Day 14

Weekly Truth

from the Prayers in Scripture reading plan

Matthew 7:7-11

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week we will continue memorizing our key passage, Matthew 7:7–11. Last week we started with verses 7–8, and this week we encourage you to keep going! Try adding verses 9–11, where Jesus reminds us that God delights to answer our prayers.

“Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Who among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.”
—Matthew 7:7–11

@Morgan Benner praying for you and your dad! My dad recently started going to church and I know how special it is to have that. I pray you all feel Gods presence with you guys.

    Happy Sunday to all.
@Martha Hix: praying for you and a lovely Thanksgiving trip to Colorado. May you have a blessed time much more that you expect.
@Jennifer Loves Jesus: praying for your mother’s successful chemo treatment, strength to overcome, and open heart/mind to know more about the Lord.
@Rhonda J: yay for the “surprise” small ground leading experience. God is good.
@Morgan Benner: praying for your dad’s healing & full recovery.
@Mari: praying for your toes & foot healing so you can run properly again.

Be blessed today dear sisters. And remember to seek FIRST the Lord…not last as the last resort. It makes a huge difference to any experience.

But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. Psalm 4:5
The LORD will give strength to His people. The LORD will bless His people with peace. Psalm 29:11
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest”. Matthew 11:28

I will continue to Ask, Seek, and Knock knowing that my God will answer whether it be Yes, No or Wait. Happy Sunday sweet sisters! Thank you for praying for my daughter as she enjoyed the Winter Formal dance with her friends. I’m so grateful for these sweet girls as they are all believers of Jesus. I’m grateful both my kids have made “wise” choices in who their close friends are.

@Kelly(NEO) thank you for asking about my mom. Her recovery from surgery has been slow as expected but she is healing. She’s going back for another round of chemo on Monday and another in 3 weeks. So the holiday season isn’t going to include what she loves traditionally. All in all I pray mostly for her heart to trust fully in God. This is as we learn will be the only unchanging experience of peace. I share my devotional notes from this study every day and she shares it with Roger (new husband after being widowed by my fathers passing in 2017). They sit on the porch with coffee each morning and tell me God blesses them through me. For that I am so thankful! May God bless you!

A beautiful pray to pray today.

  7. Jennifer Loves Jesus says:

God gave me a beautiful truth this morning. As I was reading and pondering Matthew 7:11, “If you then, being evil know how to give good gifts… How much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him?”. Contrasting our imperfect goodness with the perfect goodness of God; our partial understanding with His wisdom; our goodness is mingled with sin. Yet, by His mercy we receive His perfect love through Christ. As I considered a sweet conversation with Brett about marriage and its sacramental picture of Christ and the Church, I looked up at the trees through a window. The sun was just beginning to shine on the leaves. And here was the truth of God’s eternal goodness. His love and answer to prayer is like the yellow of the leaves made brighter and more beautiful with the sunlight shining on them. Beauty is made more beautiful. Shadows illuminated. Prayers answered with His full wisdom. Him knowing the goodness we need for life and freedom. Him giving us abundance and contentment in our hearts when we fully trust Him. His answers are better than what we may come up with. Today my Lord, I receive Your greater goodness. Your greater beauty. Your truth. You are the greater answer to all of my prayers. Open my eyes to see how You see. Open my heart to You alone. Bring me closer to Your heart Lord. I am asking. I am seeking. I am knocking. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages, amen. Maranatha.
