Matthew 7:7-11

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week we will continue memorizing our key passage, Matthew 7:7–11. Last week we started with verses 7–8, and this week we encourage you to keep going! Try adding verses 9–11, where Jesus reminds us that God delights to answer our prayers.

“Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Who among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.”
—Matthew 7:7–11

Love this, especially that we lean into God and that God will give us the desire of our hearts but my seeking is not in my flesh or this world butbin Him and his word, so I al aligning with his heart not mine

    Happy Sunday to all.
@Martha Hix: praying for you and a lovely Thanksgiving trip to Colorado. May you have a blessed time much more that you expect.
@Jennifer Loves Jesus: praying for your mother’s successful chemo treatment, strength to overcome, and open heart/mind to know more about the Lord.
@Rhonda J: yay for the “surprise” small ground leading experience. God is good.
@Morgan Benner: praying for your dad’s healing & full recovery.
@Mari: praying for your toes & foot healing so you can run properly again.

Be blessed today dear sisters. And remember to seek FIRST the Lord…not last as the last resort. It makes a huge difference to any experience.

But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. Psalm 4:5
The LORD will give strength to His people. The LORD will bless His people with peace. Psalm 29:11
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest”. Matthew 11:28

  9. Mari says:

I will continue to Ask, Seek, and Knock knowing that my God will answer whether it be Yes, No or Wait. Happy Sunday sweet sisters! Thank you for praying for my daughter as she enjoyed the Winter Formal dance with her friends. I’m so grateful for these sweet girls as they are all believers of Jesus. I’m grateful both my kids have made “wise” choices in who their close friends are.

  10. Jennifer Loves Jesus says:

@Kelly(NEO) thank you for asking about my mom. Her recovery from surgery has been slow as expected but she is healing. She’s going back for another round of chemo on Monday and another in 3 weeks. So the holiday season isn’t going to include what she loves traditionally. All in all I pray mostly for her heart to trust fully in God. This is as we learn will be the only unchanging experience of peace. I share my devotional notes from this study every day and she shares it with Roger (new husband after being widowed by my fathers passing in 2017). They sit on the porch with coffee each morning and tell me God blesses them through me. For that I am so thankful! May God bless you!

A beautiful pray to pray today.

  12. Jennifer Loves Jesus says:

God gave me a beautiful truth this morning. As I was reading and pondering Matthew 7:11, “If you then, being evil know how to give good gifts… How much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him?”. Contrasting our imperfect goodness with the perfect goodness of God; our partial understanding with His wisdom; our goodness is mingled with sin. Yet, by His mercy we receive His perfect love through Christ. As I considered a sweet conversation with Brett about marriage and its sacramental picture of Christ and the Church, I looked up at the trees through a window. The sun was just beginning to shine on the leaves. And here was the truth of God’s eternal goodness. His love and answer to prayer is like the yellow of the leaves made brighter and more beautiful with the sunlight shining on them. Beauty is made more beautiful. Shadows illuminated. Prayers answered with His full wisdom. Him knowing the goodness we need for life and freedom. Him giving us abundance and contentment in our hearts when we fully trust Him. His answers are better than what we may come up with. Today my Lord, I receive Your greater goodness. Your greater beauty. Your truth. You are the greater answer to all of my prayers. Open my eyes to see how You see. Open my heart to You alone. Bring me closer to Your heart Lord. I am asking. I am seeking. I am knocking. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages, amen. Maranatha.

  13. Susan Lincks says:

    Amen

  15. Rebecca W says:

Prayers for your dad, Morgan and for you as well. Have a wonderful Sunday Shes. Heading off to church. ❤️

  16. Dorothy says:

I usually read from “The New Living Translation” when I read, this is how verse 11 is stated: “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him.” This verse reminds me it doesn’t matter if I’m good or bad as long as I ask God and Christ for what I need and am a child of His, He will EVENTUALLY give it to me.
Father God, my One and Only Heavenly Father, I ask now that You be with me and all my sisters and brothers as we journey through the coming week. You and ONLY You know what is in store for us. Be at our side in the form of the Holy Spirit. Remind us You NEVER, EVER turn Your back on us even if we turn our backs on You. In Christ’s name, amen.
Sisters be blessed and know you can ask the Lord for your needs.

  19. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.” Father God, we are asking for good things. Please heal @ Morgan Benner’s dad. Please let her enjoy years of knowing her dad as a believer. Please God, spare his life so he will know his grand-daughter and she will know him. You are gracious, loving and kind, merciful and compassionate. Your will be done.

@Morgan Benner – I will continue to pray for your dad, please keep us all updated.

Friday evening I was in a very bad way mentally. And I felt so defeated, like Satan had won…But God! Praise to His name – on Saturday I woke up feeling better and set my mind to thinking on things good and lovely. (Philippians 4:8) My husband was next door at the church putting the finishing touches on Sunday’s sermon and my son was out. I was all alone in my kitchen baking and cooking for a house warming we were going to that afternoon — and I was having my own private worship service! Two songs I played repeatedly as my heart was filled with God’s presence and love – Gratitude by Brandon Lake and God Really Loves Us by Dante Bowe and David Crowder. Raising my hands to God in worship and singing my heart out, what a joy! And I thought – if my neighbors look in and see me they will think “what in the world is going on over there!” But what joy I had! God lifted my spirits through the presence and power of His Holy Spirit. So thankful that God is my Father, Jesus is my Savior and the Holy Spirit is my Comforter!!

Have a blessed Sunday all my She sisters. May you find peace and blessing in worship today as you gather with your church community. ❤️

  20. Aimee D-R says:

    Let me always ask Lord!

  21. Stephanie Berling says:

Please lift my neighbors Jim and Bonnie up in prayers. Jim was transported to the hospital early Saturday morning after experiencing multiple seizures and his heart stopping. First responders got him back but after a full day of testing in the ICU the doctors still don’t have answers about what’s going on. Fortunately our little cul-de-sac has rallied around them and their adult children have been great supports. They are not believers and this has been incredibly difficult for Bonnie to watch.

  22. Laurel says:

Continued healing thoughts and prayers for all requests listed and unlisted…as well as prayers for safe and happy Thanksgiving travels…

  23. Theresa says:

Morgan-praying for healing for your dad.

  24. Kelly (NEO) says:

As we enter Thanksgiving week here in the USA, Psalm 92:1-5 seemed to be a great passage to think on today
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praise to your name, Most High,

to declare your faithful love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

with a ten-stringed harp and the music of a lyre.

    For you have made me rejoice, Lord, by what you have done;
I will shout for joy because of the works of your hands.

How magnificent are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts!”

DOROTHY – praying for you and your sister to settle in and be at peace. The battle is not with flesh and blood, but with the enemy of peace.

MORGAN BENNER – praying for your dad’s quick turn-around and recovery.

SUSAN – rejoicing in the good report for your DIL

JENNIFER LOVES JESUS – thank you for sharing Basil’s prayer. How is your mom doing?

  25. Lynne from Alabama says:

    Praying for your dad, Morgan!

  26. Melissa Mcronney says:

    Amen

  27. Morgan Benner says:

Shes- I am asking for prayer for supernatural healing for my dad. He’s suffering from complications from a surgery. I’m so thankful for this study that is helping me go deeper and more directly to the Father in prayer. My Dad recently became a believer (after many years of prayer!!) and is now the best grandpa to my 9 month old daughter and the man I wish I would’ve had growing up. I have been overcome with the Lord’s patience, mercy, and kindness because He has used so many things that drew me in to Him and then years later my Dad. In my flesh I am scared to lose him and want my daughter to know/remember him but I am so thankful God pulled him in to believe and follow. His future is heaven whenever the Lord decides and I’m so thankful for that. Thank you for your faithful prayers over this community!
