Acts 13:27-31

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

Test your memory of Acts 13:27–31 by either writing out the full passage on paper or typing it as a note into your phone. Then recite it in full, reflecting on all you have learned in your study of the New Testament.

27 Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him. 28 Though they found no grounds for the death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him killed. 29 When they had carried out all that had been written about him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and he appeared for many days to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.

I would very much appreciate your prayers for my adult children who will speak at the service and for our family. We are all in shock and heartbroken. He was 71 years old. Thank you Martha for checking in with us in this hard, sad time. To lose someone so close to you as a spouse is hard to fathom, and I hope you will come back and read with us to distract you and fill you with God’s love and hope, and our love for you.
I always feel such a connection when women in this group share their trials and hurdles and heartaches and ask for prayers (But God), then continue with us over the months and years, and we see how God has worked in their lives, growing and shaping, and carrying them through. Those are testimonies for all of us to share in and learn from. Thank you so much SRT staff and SRT sisters! What a special place.

  8. Sky Hilton says:

I guess that all I have learned from the New Testament is that God cares about people’s feelings and wants us to come to Him before we react. And that God loves us so, so much, that he promises us that he will take away all the pain the have when we get to Heaven

  9. Annette says:

Pray for my son Hunter, he was saved as a child but got with the wrong crowd. He’s strayed so far from God and is not making good choices. I’m so worried about him. Please pray that he leaves the lifestyle he is in and turns back to God. Pray for God to soften his heart and lead him back to Him.

Praying for you Martha, it must be so hard and shocking. I hope you can feel some sort of comfort knowing the Lord is with you and sees you.

It feels like such a scary time for so many of us, but the Lord has got this, and there is an eternal home we will all go to that knows Him. We have to set our eyes on that and not what is around us albeit so hard.

Hope you all have a good day, but continue to share your hurts and sorrows, for this has become so much more than a bible study. We are true sisters for the Lord, in the Lord, and forever with the Lord. Each of you that commented throughout the study has touched us with your wisdom, insight and vulnerability. Blessing to you all.

MARTHA HIX – So very sorry for the sudden passing of your husband. Praying that you and your family feel God’s peace and comfort. He is near and walks with you on this valley.

For all who are struggling through grief – NICOLE NORRIS, MADISON, GRAMSISUE, ASHLEY, TINA – continuing to pray for your journey too.

“Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
