1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

Over the course of this reading plan, we will commit a passage from 1 Thessalonians 5 to memory, where Paul calls his readers to action. This week, focus on memorizing the first two verses and the beginning of verse 18. Write the words on a notecard and keep it near your bedside as a reminder to rejoice, pray, and give thanks throughout the day.

Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
—1 Thessalonians 5:16–18a

Adding my prayers that God’s strength will cover your weak moments Courtney. What a joy to hear you love serving the Kingdom family of God’s people. That is a cause for rejoicing.

I will give thanks in everything even when it does not go my way because I know my God knows what’s best for me. Therefore I will rejoice. And right now I am enjoying the beautiful sunlight coming in through my window. God is good! Please pray as I have some (physical) aches and pains and lots to accomplish today. But I will rejoice!

Praying for you Courtney. Keep pressing forward. Keep reading The Word that reminds you what Jesus did for you and I. One of the things I tell myself is I just can’t do life without Jesus. He is my strength. He is my everything. He is right beside you Courtney.

Happy Sunday, ladies! I’m asking for prayer this morning if anyone is led to. I have been a Christian since I was a kid, about 20 years. My husband works in ministry and I love serving too. Over the past several years, however, I have become very insecure in my faith. I’ve had friends and even a sister walk away from the church and I am terrified that I could be susceptible to the same doubts and thoughts of walking away as they all were. I know I believe in the truth of the gospel, but I am afraid of my own weakness. I don’t know what to do to get these things right with God. I need help and wisdom. Thank you, sisters.
