Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.
Over the course of this reading plan, we will commit a passage from 1 Thessalonians 5 to memory, where Paul calls his readers to action. This week, focus on memorizing the first two verses and the beginning of verse 18. Write the words on a notecard and keep it near your bedside as a reminder to rejoice, pray, and give thanks throughout the day.
Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

This past week it has felt like much has gone wrong, I’ve been trying to remember to be grateful but I can’t do it on my own. I’m excited about memorizing this one!

I love this verse! 2021 I have been challenged to count the blessings in a gratitude journal and write at least three things I’m grateful for everyday. It is amazing how intentionally choosing a habit of thankfulness has begun to transform my perspective! Today I took the time to read over what I have written so far and I found myself rejoicing! I encourage anyone who struggles to give thanks in everything to do this simple habit…it is transformational!
So exciting for next week! This week was a great reminder of God’s provision and faithfulness in my life.
It’s hard for me to rejoice and be grateful today. We found out my step-daughter’s mom was exposed to COVID (she’s getting tested today) putting my step daughter, myself, my husband and out infant son at risk. We have to stay home and stream church today. After finally going back at the end of February. I need prayer for compassion and trust in God’s sovereignty.
Our circumstances are often troubling. We can’t rejoice in them. By faith you can rejoice that God is holding you, that He knows all things, that you can pray and pour out your heart to Him,etc. Rejoicing doesn’t mean “feeling happy”. Rather, it’s choosing to focus your mind on His person, His provision, and His promises all while you’re legitimately feeling scared. Big hug!
It is easy to rejoice and be grateful today because… We’re attending church today, in person! It will be the first time in over a year. We found a service that requires masks and as I am immunosuppressed that is the safest choice. We’ve never attended this church. It is a new church plant in our area. We’ve become accustomed to online worship and have certainly been blessed by the powerful teaching we’ve found there. We’re so grateful for that technological capability. 2020 solidified the discipline of constant prayer. I can best rejoice always, pray constantly and give thanks in everything when I am walking in the Spirit, daily surrendering my will, recognizing God’s blessings and being a blessing to others.

I love these words. They make for a good positive life. Rejoicing, we don’t rejoice enough. People spend so much time thinking about what they wish would happen, their time spent rejoicing is reserved for big things. This to me is very sad because there is so much our Lord blesses us with that we miss out on His many little gifts that make life worth living. There is always something to rejoice about. And when you start looking you are able to do as the scripture says “rejoice always”.
Pray constantly, yup I have learned the same here, no matter where I am there is something I realize needs to be brought to our Lord, to be left with him. And He cares as much about our simple requests as the big ones, that is the type of Father he is. Be it a request from a friend, something I hear in ones voice, an ambulance that races by, don’t get me started that list goes on and on from patient, to family, doctors, nurses etc.there is so much to pray about, it has to be constantly.
Oh giving thanks, this is an important one, we all like to be thanked and to say thank you, it takes just a few minutes to say these words and yet they have such an impact. God does so much and it all deserves to thanked for. Even the simple things like getting up in the morning, opening the drapes and inviting the Father , Son and Holy Spirit in and thanking Him for the day and what He will be doing.
The very best about doing all of these is you develop a wonderful, positive attitude and there is no room, none what so ever for negative thoughts
