The Third Sunday of Advent

Open Your Bible

Psalm 104:24

How countless are your works, LORD!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
—Psalm 104:24

The first two weeks of our reading plan have explored the unique ways Jesus was the answer to generations of hope, expectation, and longing. On this third Sunday of Advent, we enter into the final days of anticipation for Christmas Day. This week, we’ll read one “O Antiphon” prayer each day—along with our daily reading—to guide us to Christmas and the celebration of Jesus who has indeed come to us.

O Wisdom, coming forth from the mouth of the Most High,
reaching from one end to the other,
mightily and sweetly ordering all things:
Come and teach us the way of prudence

Extra prayers, please? We have over 15K of off grid equipment in our basement. We just got a bid back for installation that is quite a bit more than we were anticipating. We don’t know how to proceed!

    Thank you, sweet sisters!

PS—- I listened to the podcast today and liked the suggestion of reading the O Antiphon and then the readings and then the O Antiphon again to kinda make a scripture sammie. What a good idea!

This is my first time ever celebrating Advent, and it’s also my first She Reads Truth study. I’ve absolutely loved doing both!!

Seven days till Christmas! Thank you Lord for the gift of Your Son Jesus. Humbly you came and gift yourself unto us in stressful situations. I am echoing another she’s prayers on health and wellness. Our family is also down with a cold/flu. On top of that our main bath faucet burst before Xmas, and we are trying to find a plumber, getting quotes and assessments. They might have to cut in the wall to remove some plumbing. And…my right eye got scratches and swollen again yesterday after being almost healed. To sit and sulk is a great temptation I must admit. Lol. BUT GOD. His grace and mercies are fresh every morning. Tangible mercies that are great. I miss you she’s. Hoping to recover from the troubles and sickness so i can join you again daily for the devotional. I really hate to be thrown off my daily routine that I have worked so hard to build discipline on, but may God’s grace come strong when I fall short despite my best efforts. Praying good health and cheery moods for all by God’s strength and kindness to sustain us through. One week till Xmas. Be blessed dear sisters.❤️

Happy 3rd Sunday of Advent! I can’t believe how fast this time is going and enjoying EVERY morning with you all. PLEASE pray as I’m attempting to attend the service in-person and by-myself. And its not because of COVID, but because of a restraining order against the man I once called husband. I don’t know if he still attends. I miss going in-person and I felt compelled to attend this morning. I miss all the beautiful services during this time. Plus a one of the students from my school is singing!

    1. Kendal Ragland says:

Mari, I’ll be praying for you ❤️❤️

The O Anitphons are something I have never heard of until practicing this Advent season with this series!! I have been a Christian for over 31 years and went to a nondenominational churches. I love the idea of it and cannot believe that no one had ever taught me about Advent season. BUT I have been very blessed and humbled by this whole experience. Thank you God for your wisdom as we read together with all the SHES!! My prayer and hope is that all of you ladies will be encouraged this Christmas and that you will lean in to Jesus for comfort if this is a time of year that might bring sadness and grief due to loss or hurt as a lot of times happens. Love and Hugs to everyone. In Christ,❤️

Come and teach us the way of prudence- I echo this sentiment today- Lord I need You every hour. I ask for the ability to discipline myself, showing good judgment in all things so that Your light shines through me! Happy Sunday She’s!

Good morning! I did not grow up in a liturgical church, so I had to look up “Antiphon”…for anyone else out there who was unfamiliar with the term, it’s “a short sentence sung or recited before or after a psalm.” Hope you all have a wonderful day!

  16. Cheryl Blow says:

    Yes, Lord!

  17. Keli Miles says:

    Amen! ❤️

This is the day the Lord has made! Rejoice, sweet She’s!

I posted a pic of the opening page of this study on my iPad (along with a cup of coffee I was drinking and a note to be blessed today) on a WW page. Hope it makes others think and look into SRT. Maybe not… many people in that group do not believe. (I feel like I’m in the middle of the “enemy camp” sometimes.)

  20. Gayle Craik says:

Lord, come & teach me. Pray my Montana kids come to church today with us. We are visiting them until the New Year.

  21. Cee Gee says:

KELLY NEO – one of my favorites especially singing it a cappella with a choir (by candlelight)! Sharing the lyrics for the first part:

    O come, O come, Emmanuel,
    And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.
    Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
shall come to thee, O Israel.

MICHELLE PATIRE – ❤ and hugs!

SEARCHING – Fervent prayers for your friend’s daughter, family, and medical team! ❤ and hugs!

ALL SHE SISTERS – I pray all are healthy again and safe as we enter this last week before Christmas. ❤ and hugs!

  22. Kelly (NEO) says:

My favorite Christmas song, O Come Emanuel, is based on the
Antiphons. Looking forward to the week ahead.

MELANIE SMALLEY – praying you have a church to go to today.

BETH RITCHASON – may God’s wisdom be “mightily and sweetly ordering all things” for you and your husband.

TAMI C – praying Chela seeks the councilor she needs to get skills for navigating life’s stressors.

A WALTON – glad to see an update from you! Bummer about the kiddos’s colds. Praying the Lord makes a way for you to visit with your siblings. Praying your dad’s knee heals up quickly.

    1. Beth Ritchason says:

Thank you Kelly. Wisdom and judgment in all things is exactly what we need. Attended

Echoing every beautiful and encouraging prayer here this week, and adding the Numbers 6 Blessing over each and every one of you beautiful Shes..

    May the Lord bless you and take care of you;
    May the Lord be kind and gracious to you;
May the Lord look on you ( and yours) with favour, and give you peace..

What an honour, blessing and a joy it is to journey with you.. Thank you, my dears.❤

  26. Tina says:

    BUT GOD..

    And only God..

I will sing to the Lord all my life; as long as I live, I will sing praises to my God.

    AMEN.
