BY She Reads Truth
Take this day as an opportunity to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.
The day is Yours, also the night;
You established the moon and the sun.
You set all the boundaries of the earth;
You made summer and winter.
– Psalm 74:16-17

This is my first visit and noticed the title for this unit is for Lent 2017. I have never done lent. Can someone tell me why she does. Also, is lent a particular denomination discipline or is it Biblical?

I am sure someone else can offer you a more in depth reply, but Lent is not for a particular denomination (however, a lot of protestant churches participate in Lent!). It is similar to Advent, except it is the lead up to Easter.
The first post in the Lent 2017 series on the website should offer you more in depth reasoning on why SheReadsTruth is doing it. Welcome to the site!

Lent is not biblical per say, at least it is not a biblical command. We are free to observe it and we are free not to. Many denominations of Christianity observe Lent, with many different traditions and practices. The 40 day season of Lent is intended for us to remember our own sinfulness and mortality. From dust we came, and to dust we will return, Genesis 3:19. We all are sinful and in desperate need of a savior. During Lent, we are reminded to repent of our sinfulness and turn back to Jesus. We remember our need for a Savior and we wait with anticipation for Easter Sunday, when Jesus Christ was risen from the grave, victorious over death. He paid for our salvation with His perfect sacrifice. So, the women at She Reads Truth observe Lent together. We study the scripture, we repent, and we turn back to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
