Numbers is reminding me that God has everything worked out. He is a God of detail, plans and order. The Israelites journey to and receiving of the promised land has been strategically and orderly outlined from who should do what, to who will live where, to the exact borders. It reminds me that God is a God of detail and precision – He knows exactly what HE’S doing: He knows the plans He has for me and has the exact dimensions and details for my life and blessings. Thank you, Lord!

Also, from Numbers – when God wants us to remove someone from our lives, we ought to remember that His purposes are two-fold. First to prevent us from being influenced to fall into the sin of the ungodly around us, and secondly, to protect us from the discipline God has planned for them.

Interesting that Herod ‘used’ to enjoy listening to John the Baptist, and kept him safe, until John’s preaching hit too close to home and called for repentance for Herod’s immoral lifestyle. It was this sin of lust that resulted in Herod’s weakness, giving in to his temptation and ordering John’s murder.

Mark 6:26 “And although the king was very sorry, yet because of his oaths and because of his dinner guests, he was unwilling to refuse her”. This strikes me as a caution. I am quick to make a promise. Or to agree to something that I don’t fully understand. But promises should be binding. I need to be known as a woman who keeps her word. So I need to be careful what I promise. If I make rash promises, I will come to regret it. Be careful what you promise. And do what you say.

It intrigued me, especially in Numbers 34, that Our God is a God of order, precision and accuracy. If only we always follow his exact orders in our lives because he knows what’s best for us. God help us
