In him I am made new. Born again. Truly alive.

  3. Lexi Beaver says:

Why did Noah curse Ham’s generations to be servants whenever it was all of the brothers who covered his nakedness when he was drunk? (Genesis 9)

    1. Brooke Parker says:

Hey Lexi!!!!! I was wondering the same thing!! I hope you’re well:) so good to see you on here!!

    2. Brooke Parker says:

Also maybe because he went and got his brothers, drawing attention to his fathers state instead of going in and covering him himself quietly. Maybe? What are others thoughts?

    3. Monica Lubag says:

I was wondering this as well

    4. Jessica Simmons says:

I was always told that it was because he saw him and then went and told of it instead of quietly covering him before anyone else saw him.

    5. Leila Maggart says:

Adam and Eve were ashamed of their nakedness with God, I think Ham was cursed because what he did shamed Noah. Ham was the only one who saw him naked, his brothers walked backwards so as not to see Noah.

    6. Susan Johnson says:

Ham dishonored Noah by telling his brothers of the drunkenness and nakedness! The brothers did the right thing to honor their Father by not looking on his nakedness

From some preachers sermons on this, I’ve heard that there is something implied that Ham had actually done something sexual to Noah. Massbible.org. Has a post on this. It’s kind of a long read but it gives you so much cultural and time context.

I think you’re right from what I’ve studied.

      2. Briana Fulton says:

Same. I read a lot online after I read this chapter and I’m pretty sure he did something sexually which is why Noah knew it when he awoke.

    8. Brianna Christian says:

I’ve done some studying from commentaries and they seem to believe ham slept with Noah while Noah was passed out drunk. If you study hams descendants this seems to fit the picture because of rampant homosexuality (sodom and Gomorrah)

    9. Brianna Christian says:

When I first became a believer and started reading the Bible all the way through I got stumped here. The punishment didn’t seem to fit the crime. But if you study older commentaries it does fit with the sexual aspect

I am enjoying reading John as I have been baptized recently. Actually last Sunday! It jumps off the pages to me and brings my baptism full circle. I must decrease so he can increase.

I love “he must increase and I must decrease” might be my verse for the year, very fitting for myself.
