Number 14:18

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.

This week we will commit to memory the final portion of Numbers 14:18, a stark reminder of the lasting effects of sin.

The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in faithful love, forgiving iniquity and rebellion. But he will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generation.
—Number 14:18

Good weekend, celebrated another grandchild’s graduation in WY and another in the northeast chose to be rebaptized. She felt the last time was because of peer pressure. This time she spent time thinking and praying about doing it. So proud of her, she is a junior in high school. Hope you all had a blessed weekend.

Tina I feel the same way. Sisters if I can please ask for prayer- my GI issues came back with a vengeance this week and I ended up getting an emergency gallbladder removal. There is still a stone in there they will go in and remove tomorrow between 7-11 am EST. Please pray for healing and that all the abdominal pain will resolve with this procedure. Thank you sisters !

The lasting effects of sin. It takes it toll on families but God can and will redeem us if we repent.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Biblegateway verse of the day – so timely, (TINA)!

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:17

  9. Kelly (NEO) says:

“bringing the consequences” but not the punishment to the following generations.

We see this in the the children and grandchildren of the Exodus generation. God punished those 20 and older with death, but provided for their children’s every need so that their “clothes and the sandals on [their] feet did not wear out” (Deuteronomy 29:5).

Lord, have mercy on us today. Show us how to bring You honor, glory, and blessing. Help us to live the righteous lives You have called us to so that all may “Know that the Lord [our] God is God, the faithful God who keeps his gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commands” (Deuteronomy 7:9).

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Amen! ❤

    2. Carol M says:

Thanks, Kelly, for these comforting comments this morning, as we ponder the “starkness” of the verse. Consequences, indeed! Loved the Deuteronomy verses that you shared…Basking in the shadow of “Our Faithful, Gracious Covenant-Keeping God!! Also, good to be called to remembrance that my actions MATTER, and my accounts need to be”under the blood of Jesus”!! Blessings for this Sunday, Sisters! ♥️

    3. Mercy says:

      Amen. Consequences vs. punishment.

  10. Tina says:

    This is really scary stuff!

What I do(sin) affects my people for 3 to 4 generations..
So my sin and subsequent punishment can be carried down through my son, his son and my great grandson son and his child. Proper scary stuff!
My son Mike, my grandson Kane and his son Lorenzo could be paying for my sin, my wrong doing..
I better start being/doing the right thing! OMG!

    I AM SCARED!
That I would be the source of their pain or discomfort in life.. their misfortunes my doing..

    BUT GOD..

Thank God this is Numbers! I do not make light of this verse, but I am thankful for Jesus! Oh boy am I!

Thank you Jesus, thank you so so very much for the cross and ALL it stands for, for me, my children, my children’s children and beyond. Thankful that that those that come after me are not accountable for my sins. Lord, may I use this verse as my guide to not sin or do wrong, even though I am covered by the blood of Jesus, as are people.
    Praise God.!
    So so very thankful..

    AMEN.

Happy Sunday my loves, covered, as always in hugs and prayers.♥️
