Romans 8:14-17

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

For this reading plan we are working to memorize Romans 8:14–17. Let’s continue by adding verse 15, a reminder of the access we have to God as His children.

14 For all those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!” 16 The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, 17 and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
—Romans 8:14–17

TAYLOR, I just missed seeing you this morning. So good to hear from you and hour exciting and hopeful news!!! Enjoy this special week and join us again soon. ❤

SEARCHING – Hahaha re: pouting! Sin entering through the eyes stood out to me, too. Like you, I am very careful about what I read and what I see on TV/videos. I have returned a lot of books after 1 or 2 pages read. Thanks for the encouraging words; I spent 7 hours decorating today and my husband was there for about 6 of those hours.

I will probably have to comment later in the day this week, ladies, but I will try to keep my morning devo on schedule.

    Happy Sunday!

Great to hear from you ERB!

    Happy Sunday She’s!

Taylor, I have missed your voice here for so long! I was hoping all was good, and glad you are back! And others, I love this big family of ours! Missing Dorthy, and JLJ, and Churchmouse and Tina, Angie, and Angie, and so many..!

The verse today was good…that we are joined with His Spirit..together. What a blessed assurance, and we are with him in our pain as he was in pain. “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” 2 Corinthians 4:17 One of my memory verses this year! Thank you for the prayers for back pain and my Chronic Pain group! I met a man coming down the front of our church…that God said to me to wait and talk to him before leaving, because it was obvious he could barely walk. So I stayed there even though my husband had pulled up the car for me. I said hi and and waited for conversation when asked if he had been before. He said it was his first time back in a long time, but he is having a bad, bad time in his life. “I have had a stroke, and I am also going through a bad divorce” shaking his head in sorrow. I said I am so glad he came to the only place that could help…to Jesus. And that I was so happy to have him there. People need our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we just can’t do it without him when life slams us down. Let us remember to be His light in any way we can to a hurting people. They need an army of God’s people to surround them in love and help carry them.

Thank you Mercy for your wisdom. Hope AZ Walker that you feel better. Teresa, prayers for your husband (which is amazing God brought that together!) and the finances!

Prayers for my dad that has had pain issues and breathing issues for decades now and spends most days in bed or the couch. It is hard when you feel like there is nothing worth living for. I pray that his spirits stay up and he feels loved by his scattered family that really doesn’t get to be around. I have not been this whole year either. The time I was scheduled to fly in March for his bday is when I broke my foot and had to get crutches, so it was cxd. Thank the Lord for technology for us to connect with family in that way.

  7. AZ Walker says:

So happy for Mari V having such a nice break on her staycation and hope sweet Taylor is having a wonderful weekend away as well! So nice to be in the word with all of you and I learned so much last week from you and the podcast. I have a prayer request. I haven’t slept in 3 days and my back is really hurting. Not sure how I strained myself or what is going on. I am praying for you Rhonda J. that you find relief and others here in pain.

Happy Sunday from SUNNY California ☀️ It’s a very sunny and “cool” morning and a short break from yesterday‘s heat. Although I’m kind of weird and that I enjoy the heat. I too, love how God works. This morning, after a very restful sleep, I said, “Happy Father’s Day, Daddy”. I miss him so much! And I so wish my children would’ve had someone like him. I’m grateful that both of my children are believers and understand that our Heavenly Father is their daddy.
My daughter and I have been housesitting, my best friend’s home, and it definitely feels like a staycation. Her home is beautiful and I’ve been enjoying my Quiet time in a new location. This was a much-needed “break“ from my normal routine. I love how God works in that way. HE knew,I needed this.

Bittersweet day … thankful for being in the family of my Abba Father as I miss my earthly Daddy. And thankful for my sisters here!

TAMI C & DONNA WOLCOTT – thank you both for sharing about handling difficult people with grace and appreciating those that, in our minds, aren’t bringing what’s needed to a situation. That is one of the reasons I have never gone on a mission trip – I have no idea whatsoever of any skill I have that would be of help for the focus of various trips. And your comments came at the end of a week where I spent (feels like wasted) a lot of hours that were needed for work – trying to answer questions about how things are organized in our neighborhood for a potential home buyer. Not my house and I am not on the board so yes, I was grumbling in my heart and wondering if this was the right neighborhood for them :(. After reading your comments, praying the Lord will guide their decisions and that I will have an open mind if they do buy here.

THERESA – that’s great news and praying for smooth travel Monday and a successful mission trip! And for financial provision as well.

SHARON, JERSEY GIRL – happy belated birthday! Hope your zoo visit was great!

    RHONDA J – ❤️

CEE GEE – praying for the stomach issues to be history! I know the Lord will greatly bless the time and effort you and the other teachers are spending to pour His love into their young hearts ❤️

MERCY – Good job! But I’m pouting because CEE GEE beat me to claiming first place on spotting that change :).
One thing that rang so true when I read your points was that sin enters through our eyes.
Jesus says in Matthew 6, 22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” NKJV
I have been much more diligent as I have gotten older about what I read, watch and expose my eyes and mind to – once you see something, you can’t unsee it.

TAYLOR – so good to see you, praying for a restorative vacation! Also praying for a reset on you getting back into and staying in God’s word. For me, I get up early and start my day with Him. Also praying for wisdom and guidance in this new relationship. How is Wendy doing? ❤️

ERB – so so good to see you ❤️ Miss your comments.

  10. Michelle Patire says:

Taylor and Erb! Good to see you both again.

:) Happy Sunday, Shes! God I thank you for my beautiful community of friends here virtually, but connected by Your Spirit. We thank you that You are a God who delights in the fellowship of Your people. May we see You as we gather today in the places You have positioned us, this season. Thank you, Jesus, Amen!

  11. Ruby E says:

@Mercy, thank you for your points and your efforts to post them. Very insightful!

  12. Brenda says:

Kelly NEO I feel the same way as my dad passed away a few years ago.

Taylor and ERB so good to see you.
Taylor praying for your season of burnout. I’ve been there and it takes longer than I think to come back. I’m a CPA so I experience this “recovery” every May and it basically takes the whole month to recover so be gentle with yourself.

She’s I am asking prayers for a safe work trip that I have this week to Memphis.

  13. Susan Crocker says:

    amen

  14. Taylor says:

Hello my lovely She’s! I have missed joining you all daily. Life has been crazy since we took our break and I have not been making time to open my Bible. I checked my journal and I have been in a season of fragmented Scripture reading since 4/24. Please pray that I can get back into a rhythm of daily reading my Bible as it is so vital for my spiritual and mental health. I would also appreciate your prayers for a new relationship. He’s a Christian and we met on a dating app! We are taking things slow and I have been praying that I would follow God’s will in this new possible relationship.

I am also on vacation in the Outer Banks with my best friends family this week! I’m praying it would be a much needed week of rest and relaxation as I have been feeling very “burned out” in my job.

I just went back and read the entire last week of comments. Lifting up all the prayer requests <3 Love you all!

  15. Jeanie Mclellan says:

    Amen

  16. Aimee D-R says:

Abba! Thank You for being the ultimate Father. Amen in Jesus name

  17. Cee Gee says:

What great timing to help us focus on our Father in heaven. Prayers for those whose earthly father is no longer with them.

MERCY – I found it. Smart lady in figuring that out! Thanks for taking the time to share those great points. Thanks for the prayers; I think the worst is over just in time.

ERB!!!!!!! – SO GOOD to ‘see’ you!!! Lots of love to you, too!

  18. ERB says:

Pretty cool that the memory verse from today includes Abba Father, on Father8s Day!!! God is BEYOND GOOD!!!! I just LOVE how He works!!!

Lots of Love and Big Blessings to all you wonderful and faith-filled ladies!!! Xoxo

  19. Rachel says:

Looking back in Genesis, we see Adam and Eve respond in fear to God’s presence by hiding in the garden (Genesis 3:8-10). And then looking forward in the NT, we see Jesus used the phrase “Abba, Father” when praying in Gethsemane when He was overwhelmed and distressed (Mark 14:33-36). What a beautiful example He gave us and what a blessing to be able to cry out to our Heavenly Father.

  20. Kelly (NEO) says:

God is funny. On this Father’s Day, with my dad departed from this live, I am rejoicing that my Abba Father is worthy of all praise and honor.

THERESA – praying the Lord will richly bless your husband and the missionaries in this trip.

  21. Elaine Morgan says:

What a great way to start off this glorious Sunday! Thank you Father! ❤️
