Romans 8:14-17

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

For this reading plan we will work to memorize Romans 8:14–17. As we are reading through the family line of Jesus, we remember that we have been adopted into God’s family through Jesus.

We’ll start by memorizing verse 14.

14 For all those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!” 16 The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, 17 and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
—Romans 8:14–17

What stands out about Abraham’s interactions with God? Hmm…The Lord said, “leave your country”. “So Abram left.” In Genesis 12:7 the Lord appeared to Abram, made a promise to him and then Abram worshiped. God spoke to Abram in a vision, Abram responded with a question. The word of the Lord came to Abram and he believed the Lord. …Abram had a personal relationship and interaction with the Lord. God spoke – Abram listened, trusted & obeyed. Our faith is that simple but sometimes we make it so much more complicated. To know God is to listen to His word (the bible) and His Spirit within us, to trust Him and obey. Abram had know idea where he was going or what God was going to do, but he trusted God with all his heart and he obeyed. Sometimes its hard for us to obey when we are uncertain of what God is doing. But that’s where faith comes in – trust & obey.

Father God, help me to trust you even when I can’t see what’s ahead, even when I don’t understand what you are doing. Help me to have confidence that all will be well, because You DO know what you are doing.

Praying for @Heidi, @Sarah D. and other requests as I read them

To me being adopted means being chosen. I am an adopted child of my earthly Dad & Mom which has always made me feel special. And being adopted by God is the ultimate gift. Praying for all of the requests spoken as well as silent. We are so blessed dear adopted Sisters.

Hi ladies!! Praying for you all!! Would love your continued prayers. I’m slightly hesitant to accept the pre-K job, but I think the main thing that is holding me back is the pay, since it will be lower and I will have to pay for the remainder of my masters degree. Thankfully I can afford it! But I think it will be worth it. An in person job that isn’t a phone job should be a nice change I think too. I’m excited to work with kids, especially at a Christian school. Gonna keep on praying, but I’m going to accept the job today!
