2 Timothy 3:16-17

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

During our study of 1 & 2 Timothy, we’ve memorized 2 Timothy 3:16–17. Practice saying the verse out loud as you reflect on all that you have learned throughout your reading of 1 & 2 Timothy.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
—2 Timothy 3:16–17

Is Paul really Timothy father? Or is it like we are sisters with the lord?

So today while listening to worship online, the choir sang a beautiful song titled “Reach”. It’s lyrics are from a poem by Lynn Unger who wrote it shortly after the Pandemic started. I have included the lyrics and also a website I found about how the song came about. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

What if you thought of it
as the Jews consider the Sabbath—
    the most sacred of times?
    Cease from travel.
    Cease from buying and selling.
    Give up, just for now,
on trying to make the world
    different than it is.
    Sing. Pray. Touch only those
to whom you commit your life.
    Center down.

And when your body has become still,
    reach out with your heart.
    Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
    Know that our lives
    are in one another’s hands.
    (Surely, that has come clear.)
Do not reach out your hands.
    Reach out your heart.
    Reach out your words.
    Reach out all the tendrils
    of compassion that move, invisibly,
    where we cannot touch.

    Promise this world your love–
    for better or for worse,
    in sickness and in health,
so long as we all shall live.

Sisters be blessed and reach out to those around you in Christ’s name and show compassion.

As my daily study of the scriptures turned into a survival strategy, my soul and heart became saturated with God’s love and truth. Today, and tomorrow, and each new day I am given, I know that being tethered to these Sacred Scriptures fuels the fire of my faith. What began as a beautiful gift from my Father (faith), has transformed my life so that the constancy of joy overflows as a gift to others. I am only a broken vessel, held and healed by God. Living Water pours in, and I receive and let it flow. When I allow my focus to stay too long on anything but God, the flow of beauty and truth is diverted in my heart. Father, let Your goodness conquer these places and correct my pride when I start to shift away from Your will. Help me to endure the hard things better, bring beauty from the ashes, pour me out as an offering for Your glory. Remind me of what You have already done, the miracles I have witnessed, and help me see as You reveal each new place to step out (or stay put) in faith. I love You Lord, You will never fail me. I cling to Your Word until… Maranatha.

Happy Sunday beautiful She’s!! I, too have enjoyed this beautiful study and shared it with friends and family who subscribed to SRT themselves. It’s a beautiful, beautiful day in sunny California. Already 60° on this early Sunday morning I’ve always been a Summer girl. Looking forward to a short walk/run while listening to worship music and then off to church with my kiddos. I am praising God as yesterday I was able to walk/run a good distance. Slowly recovering from my broken ankle. Though I’m not fast anymore that’s OK. God gave me this beautiful friend to start walking running with and we talk and share the whole time. She definitely is a blessing. And she too enjoys She Reads Truth. God is good!

I want to thank whoever it was that recommended the book “Praying the scriptures for your Adult Children, by Jodie Berndt. I love it and it has helped me tremendously with my son and my other four children in general. So thanks, again mystery She. (I should have written it down)
I look forward to our next study and continuing to grow in His word!
PS. Please lift up my husband as he has Covid. Not terribly sick, but feeling lousy and coughing like crazy. Praying it will run its course and leave quickly- without getting me!
