John 1:1-5

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

Over the past several weeks, we have memorized John 1:1–5. Practice saying the verse out loud as you reflect on all that you have learned throughout your reading of John’s Gospel.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.
—John 1:1–5

“In Him was life and this life was the light of man.” So awesome. This verse really stood out to me after the Advent study we completed before this one. So happy to have another wonderful study done with you ladies. So grateful for your prayers and insight. Bless you all!

  7. Jennifer Loves Jesus says:

The darkness will not overcome the Light. It seems that the brighter the light is shining, the darker the corners look. I am learning not to fear. As Christ shines, my path is made sure. If I turn towards a dark place, or something dark comes my way, His light lessens the power of the darkness. I can see it for what it is. If I am called to shine my light there, I will be faithful. If I am called away from it, I will be wise. Ephesians 5:13 says all things exposed by the light is made visible… and then verse 15 reminds me to make the most of my time… verse 16 reminds me to take care to understand the Lord’s will. Jesus taught us to pray, lead me… not into temptation, deliver me from evil. And so back to our beautiful memorization scripture challenge, help me Lord, to remember you created together, within your idea of family. You did not create alone, but with the Word. When I feel alone in the world, I am reminded You are with me. You created this place for me. You wanted us as your family. We are your imagers. “In him was life, and that life was the light of humankind. That light shines in the darkness.” The darkness will not overcome. Thank you Jesus. I love you. Amen.

Good morning sisters! I was reading Matthew 7 today: “Wise and Foolish Builders” The verse that stuck out to me the most was:” So, then anyone who hears these words of mine and acts accordingly, is like a wise man who built his house on rock.” If we do not listen to Jesus, and if we do not work on ourselves to change FOR Jesus… how can He help us? WE must put in the work too! We must stop making excuses and come to Jesus as we are.. as honestly as we know how. We must build our faith on rocks so the wind and other elements will not move it!

My first SRT! Thank you. I would have told you a month ago that being in scripture 3-4days a week was doing well for me, BUT 7 days a week for 5 weeks and my life is reflecting the difference. Thank you for being my accountability group SRT!

I love the book of John. I had covid pneumonia in 2020 ( before the vaccine) and was in the hospital for a week. I read and listened to the book of John several times and it sustained me and lifted me above my situation. I was enveloped by His love and grace. The Word is alive.

    I’m a Child of God.
I am Chosen, not forsaken, I am who you say I am.

Have a blessed Sunday She’s. We get to go join a beach clean-up today but it’s a chilly 60 degrees here in SWF! Cold for me! But I love being near the ocean (gulf), it really shows God’s creation!

Churchmouse, your comments today–yes and amen! I had never read John beginning to end, but doing so has been a tremendous boost to my faith and commitment to Jesus. 24. Kelly (NEO) says:

Happy Sunday Shes! I am so thrilled that so many have commented on how the dive into John has helped yoi to grow closer to God.

As Paul prayed for the Colossians, so I am praying for you “asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (1:9-14)

  25. Kristen Dill says:

    I feel the same way!

  26. Elaine Morgan says:

Thank you SRT for another great study! ❤️

  27. Pamela Aileen says:

I think John is my favorite book and without SRT I don’t believe I would have ever read ad understood enough to know this. So thankful for this ministry and that the Lord chose me for his flock. I don’t know that I have ever read scripture and saw things clearly there for me.

  28. Churchmouse says:

After I watch the news on TV I often open my Bible to read and pray. There is so much darkness in world events. It feels overwhelming. I could almost despair. BUT the simple act of opening my Bible releases the Light Who gives me the proper perspective. He gives me confidence and hope and assurance. He was there at the beginning and He will be there at the end. Greater still, He is preparing a place for me and we will spend eternity together. No more darkness. None. At. All.

  29. Tina says:

So very thankful for the Word, that has been.. and there at my beginning, my in-between, and will be for always..

Thankful that I was created through Him, and not apart from Him.

Thankful that in Him was and is life, and that He is the Light of my life, and though the darkness may come, it cannot overcome the Light, Him, in me..

Thank you Jesus. Thank you Lord God..

This little Light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, this little light of mine I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine..

Shine the beautiful Sunday the Lord has made my dears… Shine!❤
