Weekly Truth

Romans 15:5-6

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

During this study, we will memorize the key passage for this reading plan, Romans 15:5–6. In this passage, the apostle Paul speaks a blessing over his readers that expresses his desire for their collective unity. Read the full blessing aloud a few times, then try saying it from memory.

Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, according to Christ Jesus, so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with one mind and one voice.
—Romans 15:5–6

I write it out 5 times, repeat what I can remember then add words till I can verbalize the entire verse. I practice it through out the week.

  13. Maura says:

Dear Sisters, it has been an overwhelming week, but God, knowing He is working and fighting for me and my girls. Overcome evil with good is in my mind, remembering in my weakness He is strong. And that He goes before us and behind us and so we as children of God are surrounded by our Lord, the Holy Spirit we can move forward in faith. Feeling so depleted today, Encouragement and Endurance needed. Hoping to do what is needed when I feel so low on energy. Rhonda J praying a new season for your marriage, that God will open up the struggles so you can speak openly together and pray together over it all. Hugs to you. Foster Mama praying for you, discernment and His timing with everything. Bring your miracles Lord Jesus, and give us eyes to see all you are doing. Help us to stand in faith. In Jesus name. Amen.

MUNCHKIN – definitely joining you in prayer; may His wisdom and discernment be evidently clear to you (heehee…and me!)

CHRIS S – YES! It’s SO easy to offend with the “kindest” comment…I’m so happy for you both that you got to clear it up so quickly; I’m still dealing with effects of a comment made (and clarified to have been taken) 180° from what was intended!

  18. Rhonda J. says:

    Happy Sunday!

@Growing Faith, unfortunately, although we are renewed, there is lots of work and growing when we become reborn! lol. Family is harder sometimes I believe because we put on our “niceness face” all day, then we are worn out when we get home and release on our families. Or maybe it could be that we are around our family so much that it gets challenging in that way. I had just said a couple of days ago, that I have been going through a trial with my husband for some time. Although he is my love and best friend, it seems we knock heads about once a week or so that turns into a disruptive, few days of silence from him. I don’t know why the cycle keeps happening and keep fervently praying about it for what seems like a long, long time. I have been trying to find us a new church home, being new to the area for a couple of years, but it has been hard searching out “the right one” by myself. My husband is a believer, but certainly is not “on fire” and has been very lackadaisical of the idea of going to church here. Anyway, I think if we can get the Holy Spirit working with us, being our uniting force it could, of course, help our relationship get back to where it was. So I am holding tightly to this verse as well of encouragement and endurance to live in harmony together.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

  19. Aimee D-R says:

Father God let Your Word burn in my heart and guide me. In Jesus name, Amen

  20. Foster Mama says:

    Hi Kelly,

Is there anything we can pray for you?! ❤️
Indeed the weekend verses have been wonderful ones.

Prayer request: My “gut” is often good at telling me things and I have what is sorta supposed to be a very benign meeting tomorrow (Monday) morning with a social worker…but, I have an ominous feeling that “This is a BAD idea”!! In theory, she’s just picking something up and, at my request, has made time for a “quick chat” although there is SO much to say. I don’t think it is professional or considerate for me to cancel SOOOO….
Please AGAIN PRAY that SHE CANCELS if it’s God’s will and/or that He will give me wisdom and clarity of what / how to speak and to if there are things that SHOULD wait for a subsequent interaction.

  21. Munchkin says:

I have feel in my heart to share this with y’all. I have an important decision regarding work to make. I am currently fasting and I just wanted to know if y’all would join me in prayer for my decision. I want to be a decision that is right with the Lord, so I”m really focusing on his guidance and will.

  22. Chris S says:

Good morning She’s. God loves us so much that he has preserved His Word even for us today. Unity can be so hard — Monday I inadvertently offended our church secretary. I offered to do one of her jobs— long story— she has lots of health issues— she had ask me to help her, but my “offer” came across wrong. She really vented on me. She needed that too— I apologized, she apologized and I’m doing the task and turning over another of her tasks to our church ladies—- just sharing how easy it is to disrupt unity and how important it is to be willing to listen and forgive. Happy Sunday.

  23. Kelly says:

    Reading the previous verses:
“Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves. Each one of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself. On the contrary, as it is written, The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures.” – Romans 15:1-4

    Keep opening your Bibles, Ladies!

  24. Angela Ryan says:

He can give the strength to do what we can’t do in our own strength.

  25. Growing Faith says:

I’m glad SRT chose this verse to memorize. I’ve been feeling discouraged lately, wondering why I, after having been transformed into a new person by the blood of Christ, so often falter in serving my family and creating unity in our home. But bring unified with others, even those we love at much as our physical or spiritual families, is no small task. I need ENDURANCE and ENCOURAGEMENT from God. I’m praying God will give us the endurance and encouragement we need for whatever is ahead of us today.

  26. Tina says:

Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, according to Christ Jesus, so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with one mind and one voice…

Praying this beautiful verse over all here.. and having received the gift of living in harmony, that we may glorify our God and Father with one mind and one voice, in how we live.. are.. and all we do!

    Blessings dear sisters.

    Happy Sunday ❤
