Acts 2:37-41

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

As we read Acts together, we will memorize a portion of Peter’s sermon in Acts 2:37–41, given at Pentecost after Jesus’s ascension. The apostle calls his audience to repent, promising the gift of the Holy Spirit to all who turn to Jesus.

This week, let’s begin our memorization with the first verse. To help you memorize, write the verse on a note card, then underline the verbs and emphasize them as you say the first verse out loud.

37 When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, “Be saved from this corrupt generation!” 41 So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.

For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” – Acts 2:39. Thank you, Lord, for calling me to yourself.

I am struggling staying disciplined and to stay on task. My mind wonders and I get distracted very easily. I thought about cancelling my membership so I wouldn’t be wasting money if I can’t stay focused on doing the daily devotionals. But I soon realized that was Satan trying to steer me off path of my growing relationship & knowledge with God & the Holy Spirit. I am here to ask for prayers for a sound mind & sound heart. Thankful to have this guided study book with so many tools to help me fully understand

    Good morning Shes

This verse in Isaiah 61 came to mind while praying for the requests today

God sent Jesus “to console those who mourn… to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
