Acts 13:27-31

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

As we survey the New Testament, we’re memorizing Acts 13:27–31. This week, we’ll work on adding verse 28. Each day, revisit this verse and say it aloud at least two times. See if you can recite both verses 27 and 28 from memory by the end of the week.

27 Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him. 28 Though they found no grounds for the death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him killed. 29 When they had carried out all that had been written about him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and he appeared for many days to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.

It is not a fun club to be a part of. Unfortunately there are so many of us who have suffered with this. After going through with myself I have learned that no matter what, God is faithful. This looks different everyday. It may mean he helps you get through the day, or laugh for the first time again, or feel more intimate with your marriage. It may come in all kinds of forms. But I want you to know anything you feel is valid and God is going to carry you through it. Praying for you sister.

@Mafison, I am so sorry. I also had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. You are right. God is good, but losing a baby is hard. I will be praying for you all.

So very sorry, praying for peace

Raising these prayer requests up to our God! Thank you for sharing your sorrows and hurts. May you all find some comfort.

After receiving a desperate phone call from my sister and then spending three and a half hours with her, crying with her, hugging her, rubbing her back, and being there to support her, I came home and chilled. Right before I laid down I read my Beth Moore devotional, “Portraits of Devotions” and wow the last two paragraphs were what I needed to “hear”. They reminded me that my God, my Savior Christ and my Holy Spirit will never ever “drop or let go of the rope”. If you want a good devotional book that walks you most of the Bible this is the one to buy.
Sisters I have a praise in my two brothers, Richard and Arthur, after talking to them yesterday I know my son (Andrew), his fiancé (Dani), and I don’t have to walk this path alone with my sister and nephew. We have their total support.
I have a second praise in that my parents — I guess you can say it came from my grandparents — instilled in my siblings and myself that family and the family’s well being is more important than money or much of anything else. I feel this comes from the Christian beliefs we were all raised with.
Well I have rambled enough have a blessed and wonderful Lord’s day sisters.

Hi, SRT Family… me again… please pray for son Jon’s continued back pain but also for my feelings of rejection.

He asked that his dad and I don’t check in it’s him every day b/c he doesn’t want to have to reply that it’s still bad. I get how he feels, but my feelings are hurt just the same! I have many prayer warriors on this, and they’re asking for updates, and I have nothing to tell them.

The cortisone injection (1.5 weeks ago) hasn’t kicked in yet, and we had hoped it would have by now, but his herniated disc was so inflamed, it hasn’t responded yet. His girlfriend is arriving from Brazil on Tuesday on a student visa, and I want him to be able to enjoy having her stateside again.

    Thanks, sisters!

Oh, Madison. I am so sorry for your loss. The message at church today was surrounding the resurrection. You WILL see this child again someday. I am sorry it is not now.

Unrelated, in the message this am, it was said that resurrection (as we know it and of OUR doing) is not possible. Then I heard the preacher say BUT GOD, and I thought about the many things we’ve talked about here, putting BUT GOD in front of it. Sweet! What a mighty God we serve!

Maura, I’m praying for you. Hope you are doing well or as well as can be.

Oh Kelly… Thank you so much for praying please continue. I can definitely see last week she was pushed and encouraged and even though there were tears and she was afraid, she is much stronger now and knows she can do things she never thought she could.

Good morning ladies, I’m sitting at the lake watching the sunrise. It’s beautiful and I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to see all the beauty God has created for us. I’ve been struggling in my marriage for the past year, I moved out and I bought a house. My husband basically decided he didn’t want to be married anymore and now he’s coming around and wants to try to make things work. I’m lost and I’m not sure what to do now. I pray everyday that God helps me to give me strength and direction in my marriage. Ladies, please pray for me to help me find my way again.

  12. Donna Wolcott says:

Prayers Madison and this difficult time. May Jesus bring you and your family solice and peace. Hugs dear sister.

  13. Maura says:

Madison, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I know our sorrow can be poured out in His hands. Know you are so loved. Lord God, be near Madison, Jesus let her feel you right there beside her holding her in your everlasting arms, comfort her with your love. In your name I pray.

  14. anne jones says:

Prayers for you right now Madison. Jesus please surround her with your love and peace. Please help her to see you are always Good.

  15. Madison says:

Asking for prayer this morning as I’m going through a miscarriage. At 11 weeks I was totally shocked and devastated to find out my baby had no heartbeat. Trusting that the Lord is still good, but this is still so hard. Thank you for praying.

  16. Sundayschoolteacher says:

Thanks be to the Lord who gives us grace upon grace and has new mercies for us each day. God speaks to us each day if we will just open His word and read. Happy Sunday!

  17. SarahJoy says:

KATE and JULIE – welcome to SRT! It’s a sweet place to bring your thoughts, questions and prayer requests.
JIMIN LEE – saying a prayer for you and Daniel. God can handle your big, bold prayers and even your snowflake prayers matter. All the snowflake prayers pile up over time and can shut things down. (Both concepts borrowed from Will and Suzie Davis off of her podcast Dear Daughters.) God sees you and He loves you.

  18. Kelly says:

Praying to the God of all grace for
MISSI BURGESS (your daughter), MARI V (Alyssa), DOROTHY (Carol and Jake), KARRIE, MUNCHKIN – may the God of peace calm your anxious thoughts and bring joy to your heaviness of heart.

JIMIN LEE – praying for you and Daniel. May God show Himself strong on behalf of your children and bring a restoration to the family that brings glory to His name. Nothing is impossible for our God

Praise the Lord today, ladies, for He IS good!

  19. Maura says:

Jimin Lee, praying with you. May God give you His peace and wisdom and strength. Dorothy, praying for Carol, for hope and ears to hear and eyes to see His path for help. And for Jake, that God would do whatever it takes to restore Him mentally, physically, and spiritually. Kelly, Lindy is doing great. So thankful, they took out her appendix and it had not burst, she was released from the hospital yesterday morning. Praise God! Thank you all for your prayers. Sunday’s here May it bring His joy and give our LORD God much glory, honor and praise!

    1. Claire B says:

So thankful she was taken care of in time.
