Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry His Word with us wherever we go.
This week we will continue learning Paul’s sermon by memorizing verse 20. Over the next week, revisit this verse and read it out loud at least twice a day. Try saying it with verses 17–19 to build on your memorization from the last few weeks.
17 The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors, made the people prosper during their stay in the land of Egypt, and led them out of it with a mighty arm. 18 And for about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness; 19 and after destroying seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance. 20 This all took about 450 years. After this, he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. 21 Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 After removing him, he raised up David as their king and testified about him, “I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my own heart, who will carry out all my will.”
23 From this man’s descendants, as he promised, God brought to Israel the Savior, Jesus.
—Acts 13:17–23

Caryn, a quickie, short(ish) answer to your questions: The verse “He’s not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance” is written to the church. In the big picture, God does all things for His own glory. His ways are not our ways. We ought to be cautious against thinking that He is altogether like us. It’s a hard thing to grasp this side of Heaven because we have such a small piece of the puzzle. How do we know we’re chosen? We know by the fruit of the Spirit. An apple tree produces apples, is known by its fruit, and will not produce any other fruit. It doesn’t question or overthink its purpose, it simply manifests what’s inside. So it is with our hearts (“out of the overflow of a heart…”). If Spirit resides, He will be undoubtedly known. It will be His fruit (not our exerted efforts) that is genuinely manifested.
This verse, as well as verses like those in Romans talking about God choosing his people and hardening the hearts of people he doesn’t choose has always caused anxiety for me. Does this mean God doesn’t want everyone, and how do we know if we are chosen?

Good morning SRT sisters. My 5 year old grandson Gianni needs prayer. He has been unable to keep his food down since January, sometimes some of his food sometimes all of it. He also has asthma like symptoms, He has been diagnosed with pneumonia and bronchitis and treated with multiple medications. He has seen a pulmonary specialist and finally after a 3 month wait a gastroenterologist, who has ordered tests. The last few days he has had both the asthma and the inability to keep his food down and he is hungry and frustrated and we are very concerned. I would appreciate prayer for him and my daughter who is trying to keep it together. Thank you!
❤️Good morning SRT sisters! Prayers are appreciated this morning as my son leaves for a week on an adventure. TWO things is all I ask. His safety. AND my car. Also my daughter and I leave for Oklahoma City on Wednesday morning for a few days for my nephews wedding please pray for our safety as well.
Thank you, Kelly! This last week was really rough. I have some clarity in direction (thank you Lord!) but working through the process with others has been extremely difficult. Relationships have been very strained (hopefully not permanently damaged) from the necessary discussions. The pain in my heart feels very much like grief as these relationships show signs of crumbling – lots of tears on my part as I pray about this. Your prayers are appreciated as I continue praying for wisdom, guidance and strength to keep going.
