Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.
We are memorizing the Lord’s prayer together. The third part of the prayer asks God to guide us away from temptation and evil, so that we might walk toward His grace and love. The last line exalts God as infinite, omnipotent, and eternal.
“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

Churchmouse, you are so right that surrendering things brings peace. I need help to really get to that level where I can honestly say 100% of the time “Thy will be done”. Most of the time I can. But sometimes my desires are so strong, for example to be a parent, that I can waver when I get to that part. Side note to all, how do we know when we are praying for things that are God’s will vs not? Still kind of figuring this one out.
I grew up reciting this prayer (mainly in Spanish) and most resent and meaningful was when I, along with the ladies in my CR step study would recite it “together” at the end of every meeting. My thoughts this morning focus on “thy will be done” and “give us this day our daily bread”. I am trusting my God for His will and I’m SO thankful He continues to provide for my kids and I. 
This is the day that the Lord has made! Have a blessed Sunday sisters.

This prayer so universally known by Christians is so humbling. I always stop at “Thy will be done.” I desire to accept His will even before I bring my requests before Him. My acceptance reveals my trust that He knows best, His timing is perfect, His promises are sure. This daily prayer as taught by Jesus Himself brings me peace and contentment as I yield my will to His. Surrendering brings a deeper abiding.
The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. – Psalm 103:19
STRUGGLING – I’m SO glad to see you will continue in the next study! “This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life” – Psalm 119:50.
Maura, I did take yesterday off from reading…I needed a day of rest. But I read both chapters 13 and 14 in Isaiah this morning!
13: I too, noticed that God is preparing an army, and that He is calling out the wicked, telling them that their day of destruction is near! I’m sure the oppressed and righteous took hope in these words/promises. Darkness/Evil simply cannot win. Even when it looks as though it will, the Lord will not allow it.
14: verses 2-3 stood out to me. “…They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.” “…How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!” Verse 7 says:
“All the lands are at rest and at peace; they break into singing.”
Rejoicing in what the a Lord has done!! Set FREE the people who cried out to Him!!
Verse 32 also makes an impact!
“…The Lord has established Zion, and in her his afflicted people will find refuge.”
Reminds me of Psalm 46:1 God is ALWAYS present with us, wanting only His best for each of His children. May we always choose to find rest and refuge in Him. Praising Him even on the darkest of days… Amen!
