Weekly Truth

Open Your Bible

Daniel 9:17-18

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

For our final week, we will finish memorizing the last verse in this passage from Daniel. Here, the prophet expresses humility before God and seeks His compassion.

Write the passage out by hand, say it aloud, or test your knowledge with a friend.

Therefore, our God, hear the prayer and the petitions of your servant. Make your face shine on your desolate sanctuary for the Lord’s sake. Listen closely, my God, and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations and the city that bears your name. For we are not presenting our petitions before you based on our righteous acts, but based on your abundant compassion.
—Daniel 9:17–18

As my church prepares to gather for our 10 year anniversary celebration (outside, socially distant, with masks), I am thankful for the reminder that it is not our righteousness but His grace and compassion. Lord, be compassionate with us today. Love you and love my fellow Shes ❤️

This verse is so appropriate for the condition of our country…How we need God’s compassion on us during this election time with so many diverse issues in front of us daily. May we stay focused on the compassion of our Lord towards us and all who are thirsty without the living water. Blessings to you ladies today.

And so we wrap up our study of Daniel. So grateful for SRT. And grateful that this verse today reminds me once again that in the midst of the turmoil of this world, God remains abundantly compassionate. I can take every worry and fear to Him. I can ask for His divine intervention in the mess we’ve made of our society. He is faithful to answer. He is more than able to act justly. And always for my good. What a great God! Dear SRT friends, near and far, have a Sunday full of the wonder of Him.
