Psalm 119:114

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

As we read Psalm 119, we will memorize the key verse for this reading plan.

You are my shelter and my shield;
I put my hope in your word.
—Psalm 119:114

To aid in your memorization, copy Psalm 119:114 a few times below.

    I have always been able to find hope in God’s word for every circumstance in my life. I have found now that I am older I am turning more and more to God’s word to get me through.
    Sisters, I go tomorrow at 7 am CST to have my surgery on my left hand. I am left-handed so afterwards it will be difficult for a week. I know I will be in God’s hands. Have a great Sunday.

    Good Morning! I just want to express Thanks to the SRT team and all of you who faithfully post or just read along like me. It has been rich to spend time in Psalm 119. I have also been reading through the book/devotion on Psalm 119 edited by Kristie Anyabwile. All of this has been a great reminder of the importance of staying in God’s word, delighting in it and seeking understanding of it. In this unprecedented time, we have the Word, that is true , eternal and the very words of God. Yesterday I caught part of the Lifeway Simulcast and the theme verse was 2 Tim 2:16 – All Scripture is God Breathed… The messages I heard were so good and tied in with this study of Psalm 119. I think the message for our time is clear- stay in His word, and be listeners. Thanks for all of you who share your hearts in these studies.

    Thank you SRT! I really needed this deep dive into Psalm 119. It’s given me comfort and hope because … verse 53 “hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked” and I needed to be reminded (verse 89) “FOREVER O Lord, your Word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” This study has shown me that His laws really don’t limit us they set us free and I was reminded again that He is in control even when everything else seems to be spinning out of control. Thanking Him today for the encouragement I find here in this SRT community.

    My heart is full of praise and Thanksgiving to the Lord today. This is my first time to post. I’ve been reading and studying with SRT for about 2 years. I feel like many of you are “Friends”. And indeed you are Friends in the Lord to me. Thank you for your words of wisdom, kindness to others, encouragement, etc. I look forward to many years of studying, learning and worshiping together and encouraging each other. Blessings to you, my SRT Sisters.

  7. Searching says:

    Amen, Churchmouse. Praying that those who have lost hope (or never had hope) will turn to Him.

  8. Churchmouse says:

    Psalm 119:113 reads “I hate those with divided loyalties, but I love your instructions.” (NLT) When my allegiance is to the Lord alone then I can firmly proclaim vs 114: “You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my only source of hope.” He alone provides strength to make it through these tumultuous and uncertain times. His Word gives the certainty of our future. For we who believe, it is always one of hope.
