Proverbs 3:5

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize the key verse for our plan, which comes from the book of Proverbs.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding.
—Proverbs 3:5

    Great devotional!

    I think verse 6 needs to be with the end proverbs scripture because it is key ‘trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight! It brings such hope that when we trust and surrender- beyond understanding- he makes a way forward!

  61. Wylie✝️ D says:

    This was great. This day marks my first week using this app and I have loved it. The trust in the lord that I just did has helped me keep the faith. If you want to listen to a song that is like this study, I really suggest The God Who Stays by Matthew West.

  62. Gigi McAtee says:

    God knew I needed this reading plan this week and especially to fall on this verse today. I take the MCAT tonight and have been so worried about not being ready and thinking “what if I don’t get a high enough score?” “What if I don’t get accepted or offered an interview?” “What if I have to take a gap year?”But through this study I am learning to trust in the Lord and his plan. It may not be what I want right now but it is always what I need. No matter what happens today, my trust is in the Lord.

    1. Courtney Duckworth says:

      Gigi, I am a third year med student and praying for you—that you do your best and are filled with peace. It never feels great right after the MCAT (or a board exam!) but you have what it takes and your journey will get you where you need to be to become a great doctor. Good luck!

    2. Ali Bobo says:

      Hi Gigi! I’m an EM intern. I had to take the mcat three times and apply to med school twice. It was so stressful. And now I look back and see that God had his hand on everything. He consistently showed me that it was not in my own strength that I was going to get anywhere. Statistically, my numbers before and throughout med school shouldn’t have gotten me anywhere, BUT God had a plan and took me where he wanted me to be and made me DIE to any pride in my own works. It’s so hard to trust, but He has got you and loves you enough to use your life to make you more like him- even if you do it kicking and screaming sometimes. Praying for you and your heart’s submission to Him in all of this crazy!

  63. Melissa Mcronney says:

    Help me Lord

  65. Molly LaRocco says:

    I am grateful for today’s reading. There are many things I do not understand about the circumstances in my life and what is happening in the world around me. Today’s study reminds me that God is my caregiver and the Lord is my shepherd and I am in great hands. I put my trust in the Lord and all is well. Amen!

  66. Lehua K. says:

    This was a fantastic study. ❤️ Thank you She Reads Truth team, as well as all of you lovely ladies who commented and shared your insights.

    I apologize, I fell behind on my reading and just caught up. I wanted to read through all of the comments and take the time to pray for the prayer requests.

    AZ WALKER, what a great point you made with the series you mentioned, the Chosen. While there’s much injustice and hurt in the world, I am not called to do it all, nor am I meant to. I can care about causes and pray, and help in some way without becoming so overwhelmed with the brokenness of this world. I can do my part in being obedient to God’s calling in my life and to surrender my life to Him.

    TAYLOR, I appreciate your reflections and I saved the equation you gave a few days ago in my journal. Thank you.

    Looking forward to the next study

    Have a blessed Sunday ladies!

  67. Taylor says:

    Thankful that we can put our trust in a God who will hold us fast no matter what! We sang the hymn He Will Hold Me Fast today in church and it was such a sweet message for such a time as this! I will copy the lyrics below:

    When I fear my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast;
    When the tempter would prevail, He will hold me fast.
    I could never keep my hold through life’s fearful path;
    For my love is often cold; He must hold me fast.

    He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast;
    For my Saviour loves me so, He will hold me fast.

    Those He saves are His delight, Christ will hold me fast;
    Precious in his holy sight, He will hold me fast.
    He’ll not let my soul be lost; His promises shall last;
    Bought by Him at such a cost, He will hold me fast.

    He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast;
    For my Saviour loves me so, He will hold me fast.

    For my life He bled and died, Christ will hold me fast;
    Justice has been satisfied; He will hold me fast.
    Raised with Him to endless life, He will hold me fast
    ‘Till our faith is turned to sight, When He comes at last!

    He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast;
    For my Saviour loves me so, He will hold me fast.

    Have a blessed Sunday everyone! Jesus loves us so <3

  68. AZ Walker says:

    Hi Ladies – this is my first post. I have been studying and praying along with you since mid March and first I want to thank all those who SRT together and also thank you ladies for all your posts that give me such hope and wisdom and encouragement. I agree with Church Mouse from her post a while ago – and try to stay focused on the Lord! I also remember God is not the author of confusion. Last week I binge watched The Chosen on my phone (the first few episodes are free) and it showed we that with all the political turmoil during Jesus’ life from the killing of the babies to the Roman soldier occupation and red districts – Jesus did no come to get involved with any of that or take sides for injustices. He came to teach us the truth and to save us. Thank you Jesus ❤️❤️❤️

  69. Gabi Brasher says:

    This memory verse was God smiling down on me today. I tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, asymptomatic and feeling fine, just scared when I got it and how long it will be active in my body. Praying for full trust in the Lord and acknowledging that His plan has always been so much greater and sweeter than my own.

    1. Mari V says:

      Gabi I will be praying for you

    2. Wylie✝️ D says:

      I am praying for you!!!!

    3. 3arrows 4Christ says:

      Gabi, I am praying for you and anyone who was around you or came in contact with you. Bless your heart. I’m glad you’re feeling fine and are asymptomatic, but I know you’re still worried about your family, friends and coworkers. May the God of peace just surround you and comfort you during this time♥️

  70. Mari V says:

    Trust in the Lord….. these past (almost 3 years) is what it came to TRUST! On this side of Heaven we may never understand why things happen the way they do BUT putting out TRUST in Jesus is the best place to be! God has been so good to me even when my circumstances looked scary (for lack of better words)

  71. DOROTHY says:

    These last several days for me have been so stressful. Yesterday’s and today’s verses are just what I needed to hear from the Lord. My moving day is fast approaching as I said previously, I received move in paperwork finally on Saturday after 12 noon. I can’t turn my utilities on until Monday because right now it can’t be done on line. Friday at work was very stressful, Finley wouldn’t go to sleep and the family had decided to have a late dinner which meant I was putting her to sleep. I didn’t have time to do some of the things I usually do while Mom gets her to sleep. I wanted to try to live a little early because yesterday I had allergy testing and I had to get earlier than usual because I had a 30 minute drive d/t the COVID-19 (they only have certain offices open). Reading what you, my sisters, have said has help immensely.

  72. LaShawn Alder says:

    This is a everyday battle for me (a fixer and problem solver) when something do not plan out I worry. But these past weeks I have been intentionally seeking God from the smallest thing (weight lost) to the biggest worries. The peace to know, I don’t have all the answers. But the God I serve surely do and he loves me.

  73. Dayna R says:

    Churchmouse – I have been thinking the same so often lately. I want to know the truth but it’s so hard to know who to listen to. But God in His mercy reminds me to listen to Him, His word is truth! So thankful we can trust Him and so thankful for you all here reminding me of that each day. Happy Sunday to you all,

  74. Maimuna Mbeh says:

    ❤️

  75. Tricia C says:

    Churchmouse I so agree with you. I have no idea what or who to believe. You are right. Only God has all the answers. Only His Word is for real Truth.
    Trust in Jesus. He’s the only Truth. For those who don’t know Him or His Truth it must be utter despair during these times.
    I am so thankful for a source of Hope and Truth.
    Blessed Day ladies!

  76. MARTHA HIX says:

    ❤️

  77. Churchmouse says:

    What is your source for accurate information? So often I don’t know what to believe as journalists have become commentators and networking biases seem more pronounced. I cannot lean on my own understanding. My understanding could be terribly skewed. I do know a Source Who is absolutely trustworthy for He is Truth embodied. Jesus is the Truth. Trust in the Lord is perfectly placed trust. When I don’t know what to believe I turn to Him Who can be believed. I trust in this Source with all of my heart for He alone is always truthful. He doesn’t commentate. He doesn’t ruminate. He doesn’t pontificate. He promises. And His promises never fail. They always come to pass. Every word – Truth. Exactly what this world needs now.

    1. Jami Moser says:

      Amen. Thank you, Churchmouse❤️
