Job 1:21

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the gospel with us wherever we go.

This week we will memorize Job’s initial response to his suffering.

Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
and naked I will leave this life.
The LORD gives, and the LORD takes away.
Blessed be the name of the LORD.

Job 1:21

Since the death of my husband, I felt an excruciating pain in my heart, but the more I speak this scripture the more comfort and ease I begin to feel… Blessed be the Name of the Lord! THANK YOU JESUS!

  2. Mari V says:

I am reminded of the song by Matt Redman. “Blessed be Your Name”
You give and take away. You give and take away. My heart will chose to say Lord, blessed be your name.

    1. Miranda G says:

I immediately started singing that song in my head too when I read it!!

  3. Churchmouse says:

While I may have some material things to leave to family and friends when I go to heaven, a legacy of faith is far more valuable. May I spend every day attempting to do just that.

  4. Stacey Wilson says:

No matter what happens. No matter what I face. Regardless of what I have or that I have lost. Blessed be the name the of the LORD. Hillsong has a new song out. “Hold my heart now and forever / My soul cries out / Once I was broken / but You love my whole heart through / sin has no hold on me / Cause Your grace holds me now / Healed and forgiven / look where my chains are now / death has no hold on me / Your grace holds that ground / and Your grace holds me now”
This is why we praise. Not because we have stuff but because we have Him who has set us free! Blessed be the name of the Lord!!

I especially love the part the Lord gives and the Lord take away. When you God heart toward us, you know you’ll get Gods best.

  7. Lindsay Conrad says:

Puts so much into perspective. One for material things you came in with nothing and you will leave with nothing. Secondly we can be completely raw and vulnerable with God “naked and unashamed”. Great reminder that the Lord is sovereign and in complete control he knows what’s best.

  8. Indiana Christina says:

I love this verse because it, like Lamentations 3, includes what I call defiant faith: trust in, praise to, and acknowledgment of God and His goodness, greatness, faithfulness, and love in the face of hard and difficult circumstances and deep disappointment and heartbreak. It is faith that doesn’t shrink back from or pretend the pain or disappointment isn’t there; it just stubbornly chooses to focus on our God and His character and His promises. It is faith that remembers and believes that He is bigger than all of our circumstances and situations and He is so good. May we all have defiant faith in our trials and trust Him and bless His name at all times.

Well spoken Indiana :) I’m going through a difficult circumstance myself with the end to a long term relationship of 5 years and cannot confidently say I’ve healed completely from it. But I’ve been encouraged over and over to not lose sight of His higher ways :) and to keep my eyes fixed on Him… so thanks for sharing those thoughts with us!
