Matthew 5:3-6

Memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to carry God-breathed truth, instruction, and reproof wherever we go.  This week, we’re memorizing the first four beatitudes (and next week we’ll memorize the last four!).

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
—Matthew 5:3-6

Write this passage down and post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about Scripture memorization. Will you join us?

  1. Kelly (NEO) says:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer. 7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that as you share in the sufferings, so you will also share in the comfort.” (2Cor.2:3-7)

As Christ’s body, we are the ones to show His comfort to those who mourn.

Lord, be with your people who are helping those in Israel, in Ukraine, and other places who are mourning.

RHONDA J – rejoicing with you!

MARI V – keep communicating with your teacher as to how best to partner with her. If she is open to it maybe you two could have a daily or weekly “huddle” with her lesson plan and see how she invisions your help implementing it?

LINDA K – praying the Lord will give you relief or strengthen you to persevere

When I wholly rely on God, when I grieve to the very depths of my soul, when I remain submitted to the authority of the Father, and when I am solely focused on following hard after Jesus, I experience the kingdom of heaven, true and complete comfort, the joys of the earth and full satisfaction. All in Him and through Him. Praising God for these truths today!

My church has Wednesday night classes we call SLU (Spiritual Life University). The class I’ve been taking on discipleship has a new memory verse every week. Memorizing scripture is a definite way to keep God’s word in your heart and in your mind. We can do this ladies!
