The Second Sunday of Advent

Open Your Bible

Luke 2:30-31

We are using the first two Sundays of Advent to anticipate the hope of Jesus’s arrival as we memorize our key passage together. This week we will add the second part of Luke 2:30–31, a reminder that Jesus was born to bring salvation to everyone.

For my eyes have seen your salvation.
You have prepared it
in the presence of all peoples.
—Luke 2:30–31

Prayers Alyssa, that is horrible! We are in Fort Myers where Hurricane Ian came through and still recovering, your are in my prayers.

Donna, you are in my prayers, so sorry you lost two close friends in your life. Hugs

To the one that invited neighbors to a party and church first, that is awesome!! I love that. I always say it’s my neighbors I really want to reach, I like the idea of having the party afters and asking to join you before! I hope they take you up on it. I try to put on FB if anyone wants a church to go to for Christmas….but an actual invite in person would probably be better from me! We have lots of widows in our subdivision.

I wanted to share something so special with my friends here because it was such a meaningful thing yesterday at my small group! We shared testimonies (I have been encouraging them to think about it or write it down…the basics; life before Christ, how I came to him, and now!) and wow, they were so vulnerable and open. They didn’t sugar coat the life they were living far from God, but then what seems to be devastation or ashes, or hopelessness turns to a joy and peace, and a thrill to live for the Lord now! So I encourage you all to take time to think about what the Lord has done in your life and where He has brought you from! It can really be used to strengthen and encourage others, believers and not!! Your story matters! Share it sisters!! #SIS (I like that!)

If anybody would like to connect with me on FB I am Rhonda Johnson, Ft. Myers. the profile pic is of me alone in a hat. IG is FMB_Dreamer

My husband and I are from that immediate area! My husband grew up on Ft Myers beach. We’ve been in Montana for close to 7 years now, but we go back to visit family and friends…this last April we were back and could not bring ourselves to go down to the beach where we’d both grown up for our childhood, the devastation was too much to bare. Continued prayers for restoration of that area.

  8. Donna Wolcott says:

  12. Mandi says:

    Thank you Foster Mama!❤️

I just reread my comment – I definitely should have done that before hitting post! Hopefully you can ascertain the meaning of the sentence about the concert- yikes!

  13. Foster Mama says:

Great job @ MANDI, stepping out of your comfort zone to do something so beautiful. Praying it goes well.

  14. Mandi says:

Looking forward to the Advent Sunday with my church body. We have our annual Christmas concert which we have been attending since been going to as a family before we started attending this church- probably approaching 20 years. It’s always fabulous in terms of quality and a clear focus on the significance of Jesus’s birth. This year I invited our whole neighborhood to go to the concert and then to come to our house for a neighborhood party. I don’t know if very many people are going to take me up on the offer of the concert before. We do know that our elderly, recently widowed neighbor wants to come if we take him which, of course we will. Prayers appreciated for both the concert at the time of our home afterward. I’m really trying to reach out to the people near me. This type of thing is definitely out of my comfort zone though!
