The First Sunday of Christmastide

Open Your Bible

Matthew 2:10

On the first Sunday of Christmastide, we rejoice—Jesus is here! The Promised One the scriptures foretold has finally come. Though He came as a baby, He is a reigning King. This week we will celebrate what it is to live in His kingdom as we eagerly await His second advent.

When they saw the star, they were overwhelmed with joy.
—Matthew 2:10

Prayer warrior Shes, please renew your prays for my dear friends son Andrew, who is 9 and has a diffuse brain tumor. From his mom: “We are in Orlando, FL (from visiting family) in intensive care. He had a prolonged seizure and resulting extreme brain swelling. He’s in a medically-induced coma since yesterday afternoon. He is stable now and the seizures have stopped and he is responding as well as expected while sedated.
We praise God the brain did not show areas starved of oxygen on recent MRI. However, we really won’t know much more until the they to bring him out of sedation. We covet your prayers and the prayers of any other prayer warriors you know ❤️‍”

    Joy!
    .
Even in the hard places, far from all that was familiar, the maji were rewarded with joy for all they had sought-the King.

  10. Margaret W. says:

I am learning to find joy even in mothering my middle daughter through a very painful season of mental illness. She is having panic attacks and lashing out at all of us in her pain, and I believe that she has lost touch with reality. She says that she wants one thing and we try to accommodate her; then she screams at us that we never listen to her and we don’t love her. I’m proud of the maturity and grace my other kids are showing her, but it is so hard! Please keep our family and R in your prayers. We are on vacation right now, so we have a little more room to spread out. It helps, and the time in nature is healing. But watching my baby hurt and not be able to make it better—parenting adult children is way harder than I ever imagined!

Good morning She’s and happy Sunday. I just wanted to share a few things our pastor said in his message this morning. They touched my heart. He said take them into 2026. 1)Faith doesn’t deny the struggle we face but refuses to stop short of the promise. 2)Don’t take yesterday’s struggles into tomorrow’s promises. 3)Faith lives where God’s word overrules the circumstances. 4)With God all things are possible. Have a great start to your week. See you all back here tomorrow ❤️

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Good Word Catherine! I love “God’s word overrules circumstance!” Yes, and Amen!

Joy makes me think of these verses:

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
    https://bible.com/bible/111/php.4.4-7.NIV

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
    https://bible.com/bible/111/1th.5.18.NIV

We can rejoice with exceeding great joy because Jesus has come and will come back to rule and reign!

Praying for all! Have a blessed Sunday!

  15. Kerry Burkhart says:

I am feeling sad today after realizing I don’t fully grasp what “eagerly waiting for the Second Coming of Christ” really means. I don’t have the excitement and joy many people seem to have. I have a mindset that tells me to “just hang on things will get better.” I feel like a kid waiting for Santa. I have a deeper appreciation for the birth of Christ and how significant it is. I have a deeper understanding of God’s love for us. I see Jesus working in my life. It is the expectation of the Second Coming that I struggle with at the moment. Have any of my fellow Shes every felt this way?

    1. Traci Gendron says:

I think it took me awhile into my studies to feel this longing. And some days I feel there is so much to do here. There are so many that don’t know God. There is work to be done. I would almost feel selfish wanting God to come too soon. What about loved ones that are still digging in their heels against believing?

    2. Marie S says:

I’m 76 and know that seeing Jesus face-to-face is coming sooner rather than later whether it is my Spirit going to be with Him or Him returning as our King, I long to see His face and the moment that our eyes lock and we both know.

Kerry, in your prayer time, ask Jesus to give you that longing. He is faithful and true and He will not let you down.

Blessings to my sweet She sisters.

I love reading your insights and revelations and concerns even more than the She teachings. this is the first time I purchased the book, I usually just do it on line but this is going to be a keeper. next year I will insert pages and do it again. It’s a renewable blessing!

  17. Rhonda J. says:

Oh that feeling of joy when you see a “sign” that everything is going to be alright. That something that renews hope!A glimpse of Glory! Where you want to burst into song (although that is always with me..lol, and CeeGee..)!

The weary world Rejoices…the King has come! Yet, the world is still fallen, crazy-mad, absurd, and sad. But God..still has the ultimate plan that still involves Jesus. He gives us the Holy Spirit, so those that believe in Jesus can make it through with a knowing, conviction, guidance, and peace! Second we know Jesus is coming back for his! That we shall join him in the air and come back with his army. That is a star of joy to hang on to as we journey through this life- knowing that he has purpose and blessings WHILE we wait!! Hallelujah, PTL!!!

    Have a great day!

    1. Mercy says:

Amen. The weary rejoices. Strength renews in God. We can walk without fainting. By His grace.

  18. LaRae Taylor says:

    Amen

  19. Kimberly says:

Matthew 2:10 says the Magi were “overwhelmed with joy” when they saw the star. That joy came after a long journey filled with uncertainty. It was the moment they realized God had been guiding them all along.
    .
Joy precedes sight. It’s born after perseverance—not after everything is resolved, but in the assurance that God is near. Seeing the star again was enough to awaken joy before they ever saw the child.
    .
This reminds me that joy isn’t something I wait to feel once the road is clear. Sometimes it rises quietly when I recognize God’s faithfulness along the way.
    .
Every step, every delay, every detour maters…joy is found after perseverance, not before it.
    .
“They rejoiced with exceedingly great joy” – this is the kind of joy that breaks through exhaustion and fear because hope has been found.

    1. Cheryl Blow says:

      Beautiful!

    2. Nicole Burke says:

Love that Kimberly, joy in the journey!

  21. Cee Gee says:

    Warren Wiersbe:
The word translated “wise men” (magi) refers to a group of scholars who studied the stars. Their title connects them with magic, but they were probably more like astrologers. Their presence in the biblical record is not a divine endorsement of astrology. God gave them a special sign, a miraculous star that announced the birth of the King. The star led them to Jerusalem, where God’s prophets told them that the King would be born in Bethlehem. They went to Bethlehem, and there they worshiped the Christ Child. We do not know how many magi were there. From the three gifts listed in Matthew 2:11, some people have assumed that three wise men made the trip, though this is not certain.

    From King James Study Bible:
“…Significantly, they worshipped him, indicating their recognition of the deity of the One whom they were worshiping.”
May we always recognize and worship the One True Light.

    From “We Tbree Kings”:

    King for ever, ceasing never
    Over us all to reign.

    Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤

May JOY flood your soul as you worship Him today and everyday!❤
I have been so blessed in this study time with you sisters! ❤

When they saw the star, they were overwhelmed with joy.
    .
I think I know a little of this joy the wise men felt as they saw the star they had seen in the East..
    .
Due to illnesses and pre-plans, I am happy to say, I get to see my younger grands today! Whoop. Whoop!
    .
    What joy is mine today!
    .
It’s not even about the presents they will carry into the house, but their presence in Nana house, with them they will carry (gold)en smiles, and an (frank)incense of joy, and not just a myrrh-mur of love, but truckloads of love!
    .
My heart will be full to overflowing, as I know thst my grands have the power revive Nanas heart just by being..
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
His gift of Jesus, and His promise of a Messiah, Angels and stars will always be up, up there with this joy, but it truly goes beyond that.
This gift of Jesus, the Messiah, was and is and will continue to be a gift for ALL. Every single last one of us.., whoever we are, wherever we’ve been, no matter our journey, we have a star guiding us to Him, Jesus. The Messiah. Our Saviour. Our Hope..
    .
My heart is and will be overflowing today..
    .
    BUT GOD..
His greatest gift of Jesus, will always, always fill us with overwhelming joy, if we just follow the star..
    .
    Amen..
    .
Much joy and love to you all as we keep following that star whilst singing Joy to the world..❤️
