The Book of James

Open Your Bible

James 1:1-27, James 2:1-26, James 3:1-18, James 4:1-17, James 5:1-20

I’m a person who loves to talk in theoreticals. I love research and digging in and discovering new depths. I love the diligent search of finding just the right word to describe the nuanced, and also indescribable, realities of God and the world. I love considering questions from Scripture that don’t have knowable or concrete answers. I love being surrounded by people who challenge me to think deeply (and sometimes differently) so I can see things from a broader perspective. I love rich discussions about history and doctrine and parsing out ten-dollar theological words.

These are good things—desires woven into me by a good Creator. Still, these exercises are wholly insufficient if I leave them all in the realm of theory. An unused theology is a useless one. It doesn’t matter how many “right” things I think and talk about or how buttoned-up my theology is if I never actually put any of it into practice.

And that is precisely where the book of James comes and steps right on my toes.

You might not want to read James if you aren’t ready to squirm in your seat a bit. James wasn’t interested in a Christian life lived in theory. His words to the scattered first century believers called for the kind of life where belief and action exist in perfect unity. From our speech and our finances to our hardships and treatment of others, James urges us to let the gospel sink into every area of our lives. All of it. In other words, true religion puts our boots on the ground in the world we live in for the sake of those around us. It means our faith is lived out through our works and our work is done in full faith—narrowing the gap between what we say we believe and how we actually live.

Many days, this feels impossible. And yet, part of the gift of us coming to the scriptures repeatedly and consistently is the way God continues to form and shape us into a more wholehearted follower of Jesus, allowing His words to work their way out of us in everything we do. Will you join me on a walk through James as we learn what it looks like to put in the practice the ways of Jesus? Since James didn’t organize his letter in quite the linear format that we often expect, we wanted to read all five chapters at once on Day 1. Starting tomorrow, we’ll move through each passage slowly.

I’m grateful you are walking with us. My prayer is that on the other side of these three weeks you are challenged and encouraged to let these words find purchase in your lived-out faith. In a world and a culture that is ever looking to divide, may we seek to be undivided in heart, word, and deed.

Lord you are perfection, my ways cannot be your ways, I will fall to my ways and Sin, my Shepard lead me down the path that you desire for me, lead me to live in your word, to not judge others, forgive easily, repent when I loose my way. In Jesus name Amen.

I am a new believer it will be a year in July, it’s still amazing to me how the Lord guides us in the direction we need to go to learn how to grow closer to him and walk more in his image. I am right where I need to be. This study is just where I am at.

I loved reading through James. Before I started i prayed that my mind and heart be open to what I need to hear. That is the first time I was actually able to read and not be distracted by my thoughts. I took notes as I went and I am excited to learn and grow through this series.

    James 1:8-9
“ If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “ Love your neighbor as your self”, you are doing right”. “But if you show favoritism, your sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers”.

So we should love others as much as we love Christ. We should love like Jesus, because His love is true and pure and everlasting. Don’t show favoritism, because Jesus never did He loved everyone so let’s follow by the example that Christ set for us to follow.✝️✝️

This is my first study with SRT and I only happened to stumble upon it after my church started a series on James last week, which itself felt timely considering my family and I are navigating the hardest trial we’ve ever come up against. Now I can go into even greater depth on a daily basis, not just on Sundays. Thank you to Heidi for the recommended study from Jen Wilkin. I hope that will add to my study time and resources.

  37. Teresa Cooper Donley says:

As I started reading, I couldn’t help but think that we could use hours of study on almost every verse in the Book of James. There is SO much in every verse! Looking at my various Bibles, I have highlighted and made notes on nearly the entire book. It’s obviously one of my favorite books. and I look forward to studying it indepth with all of you.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Agree! ❤

    Dear Sisters,

    From my husband today:

Recruiter said there was another candidate they interviewed this past Friday and she will know today or tomorrow who they are going to move forward with.

Please pray!! I can’t handle him hearing another “no”. It’s been seven weeks of this trial. Praying the Lord will cause the storm to stop.

    Thankful for all of you!!

    1. Teresa Cooper Donley says:

I’m praying especially for good news on this job opportunity for your husband, Marina. And I’m praying daily for both of you during this stressful time. May you both feel His peace envelopes you and His strength as He leads your husband to the job He prepares for him.

    2. Cee Gee says:

Praying for patience in the waiting and trust in the outcome! ❤

  40. Traci Gendron says:

A friend of mine, who is a pastor, were talking several years ago. I told him that James is my favorite book. It is convicting. It doesn’t hold back on the fact that we can be double minded. That we say one thing and do another. That we study and walk away and forget just who we are professing to be…followers of Christ our Lord.
    .
My friend was very surprised saying that it is a very hard book. But I love it. I could read it daily. Yet I would still walk away and do what I do not want to do. .
My God what will it take for my heart to change? For my actions to become more like yours? To be slow to speak and quick to listen? I’m calling out to you God! Teach me and change my ways. Amen

    1. Teresa Cooper Donley says:

Amen, Traci! That is my prayer as well. James is also one of my favorite books for the very reason that it IS so convicting. I was just thinking that it would be good for me to read it through every single day.

    2. Heidi says:

How rude is it of my humanity to keep getting wrongfully angry when I’ve TOLD IT TO STOP *uhg*. ;) I’m with you. This book- it’s like the foundation of everything and I don’t feel like we give it the attention it deserves. Paul, you’re amazing, never believe otherwise- AND- James is the OG ;)!!

  41. Tami says:

A little late posting this list today. I will try and reapply tomorrow first thing in the AM. If you want to add a name, please leave it in the comment below my name:)

Acts 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Acts 26:18:… open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.

Jeremiah 31:16-17  But now this is what the Lord says: “Do not weep any longer, for I will reward you,” says the Lord. “Your children will come back to you from the distant land of the enemy.17 There is hope for your future,” says the Lord.“Your children will come again to their own land.”

Proverbs 20:7 The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him.

Peter 3:8–9 (CSB): 8 Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

I am intrigued by this new approach- reading all five chapters on day 1 (drinking from a firehose) and then deep dive for nuggets (slow chewing for good digestion). Thank you SRT for this new approach. The book of James is so fantastic on practical Christian living all day every day! I was so touched reading every word this morning. It makes me wonder, are these same truths still being preached? or are we only hearing soft and ear-tickling sermons? As one she suggested that she would memorize, I might do the same :) Thank you for that thought. Be blessed dear sisters.

    1. Cee Gee says:

I don’t recall hearing many, if any, sermons on James! When I did the Jen Wiljin study, I had so many opportunities to tie the James passages to SS lessons (I shhared) and other readings.

      1. Mercy says:

I did not realize Jen Wilkin has a study on James. She did difficult ones including Revelation. I like her.

        1. Cee Gee says:

Yes, I mentioned it a few times on here as I went through it. ☺ I did the Revelation study, too. So good! ❤
I recently learned of an older book that I just remembered to mention (it may interest you). When I get a little extra time, I’ll look it up and share it. ❤.

          1. Mercy says:

I need all the pointers I can get, so please share whenever you come across a good one. I love Jen’s style of teaching very much, detail oriented.

        2. Heidi says:

MERCY!! :) It’s so great- and free!! If you go to her site- JenWilkin dot NET- click “resources” from the menu , “James Study”. There’s a free workbook download and on your podcast platform you can listen to each week’s session! It was recorded through Flower Mound Women’s Bible Study (or just search her name/James… bet it comes up!). It’s a great education on James!! :)

          1. Cee Gee says:

Thanks, Heidi, for supplying that info! My brain is tired and I just assumed she knew that. So sorry, Mercy! ❤
It was a little different just having audio teaching, but so very good!

            1. Heidi says:

I DIDNT EVEN KNOW lol :) :)!!!! Haha! I listened to the podcasts a LONG time ago but opened James up a couple weeks ago and decided to listen again- and on the apple podcast episode page I saw a link for the study… duh! Late to the game- but showing up! ;)

          2. Jane K says:

            Thanks for this info, Heidi!

  47. Kim H says:

I LOVE the book of James. I appreciate the bluntness and clarity of his words, and that I can try to readily apply this guidance to my life. And then I forget, and I fail, and I have to keep coming back to remind myself how to live out my faith. I do struggle to lean on God and be grateful during trials. I do not like uncertainty or discomfort; most of us don’t. So, I’m eager to slow down and mediate over these nuggets of wisdom in the next few weeks.

My mom is still doing well with her stroke recovery and she is going back to her normal duties of watching my son today. Thanks again for your prayers for her and myself.

    Have a blessed Monday!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Great news, Kim! ❤

    2. Teresa Cooper Donley says:

what great news about your mom! God is so good! I love hearing about answered prayers.

  48. Heidi says:

James contains SO much… :) But all good, right? I enjoyed reading it all as one reading, it prevents a lot of misunderstanding that happens when we dissect verses out of context.
I especially love 1:19-27 — keeping anger in check and the call to absorb and live out the truth we hear/read/know. If it is in us, it should be flowing through us — freely and graciously.

I mentioned to someone who commented, but have been meaning to share a RESOURCE – SO many of you are great at sharing what you gain from commentaries. They are so necessary in our digging in and finding out. One that has been helpful for years that myself/many classmates in seminary used on everything –

Dr. Tom Constable’s outlines and expository notes. DON’T GET INTIMIDATED — it’s just a verse-by-verse observational detailing of the chapters. He was long retired before I was a student there, but his work has taught me plenty. He has everything published online for FREE – every single book of the bible :) You can find it all at SONIC LIGHT DOT-COM and can also read about him and his wife/their mission. It’s an incredible resource when reading through any book, really. And even the extended info you can get from his footnotes — it’s just never ending ;)

Excited to learn more from James with all of you :)

    1. Cee Gee says:

    2. Teresa Cooper Donley says:

Thank you for that resource. Heidi. I saved it. All of my seminary commentaries are on a bookshelf.

      1. Heidi says:

Jealous. I don’t have any physical commentaries! I have an account with Logos and online trusted sources like Constable… Dream goal: have my own in-house library with REAL paper-filled books!!! lol :)

        1. Traci Gendron says:

I love having the books Heidi! Now if would only find time to look back at some of the studies.

  49. Kristen Grimes says:

Good morning from Southern California! As many others have said – long-time She, but rarely comment. I read them often though and love seeing posts from the newbies and the regulars alike! It’s pretty amazing, this community, that is here. I came to SRT at a very challenging time in my life (because of my own sinful decisions) that I can now look back and see as testing of my faith that produced (is producing) endurance. Thank you, Shes, for being the community that keeps me driving towards maturity by being women of the Word every day.

I’m looking forward to James over the next 3 weeks!

Hello from Idaho!! Lots of highlights already.
So much of James is “oh I know that verse”… but I need a good tutorial on the zoom-out, big picture.

  51. Mindy Martin says:

James is a book of the Bible that challenges me on every level- from my words to my actions and every though in between. I am thankful to be here and am expectant of the Holy Spirit to speak truth into my heart so that, I can live as a disciple of the One true King-Jesus.

  52. Jess Wilda says:

Today’s reading was exactly what my heart needed. God is so good- looking forward to the next three weeks, in James!

  55. Cee Gee says:

I immediately thought of The Beatitudes when that verse popped out at me this morning! I only read chapter 1 as I want to space the reading out throughout the day. In my recent study (Jen Wilkin) we read all 5 chapters each week for 11 weeks. It really helps to do that!
    .
    James 1:12 NLT
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Also thought I’d mention this:
In the previous study- since James is a short book- I went online and printed out a couple different translations. That helped me in underlining or highlighting things as they stood out to me each week. Something new each time. It would have been difficult to do that with my Bible.

  56. Mia Faith says:

Good morning from Georgia. It’s a chilly morning here in the south. I’m excited about this study. I have not been posting much lately, but I’m here with you all. I appreciate your wisdom and willingness to share. I always learn so much from you all.

    1. Cee Gee says:

You have been in my thoughts this month; so glad you’re still with us! Two hours away from you and chilly, but beautiful here, too! ❤

    2. Tina says:

Hope you are well and that life is being kind to you and yours.. How is your granddaughter after her operation.. please God she is well and all is well..❤️

  57. Mari V says:

Happy Monday sweeties! WOW! I knew James was coming! Loved that we read all five chapters in one sitting! AND it has come at just the right time.

  58. Emily Mushlock says:

I’m pursuing something this year that I’ve never really done before – memorizing large chunks of Scripture, particularly, the book of James. I’ve never been great at memorization, but I just felt at the beginning of this year that I wanted to commit to truly ingraining His Word in my heart. I prayed about different passages to memorize, and a memory came to mind from when I was a girl. A speaker came to our church – he was dressed as a Biblical character, and he “preached” the book of James, as in he recited it. So I started off 2026 each day reading and listening to a chapter of James, focusing on a few verses to memorize each day. January and February it was chapter 1, March and April I’ve been on chapter 2. When I saw that SRT was doing James I was so excited. I love what Lindsey says here about letting the gospel sink into every area of our lives – yes Lord. Arms open. Eyes up. Listening for what He’s trying to teach me. Oh how I want to know Him more.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Emily, that’s an incredible accomplishment! Way to go! ❤
About 40 years ago, an evangelist from Oklahima (I believe) preached revival at our church in South Carolina. He had memorized the ENTIRE Bible and never read from it during his sermon; everything quoted from memory. Of course, I followed along in my Bible for verification. That was before the screens we have in churches today for Scriptures and song lyrics.
      .
You are on your way with James. Kudos, sister!

    2. Lanie H says:

that’s awesome Emily! I had the same inkling this year! I have been memorizing one verse from each book of the Bible. I just met a new friend from church that said she felt called to scripture memorization this year too! maybe God is speaking to the church as whole! know your Bible!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes I agree. I have been in the word for many years now..but it’s still hard to throw out verses and it’s locale! I really would love to memorize full passages…it just seems SO impossible…but with God, yes, we need to have it down in our heart. I did have the Beatitudes memorized, so maybe I too, will work on James!

  59. Rhonda J. says:

    Good Morning She’s!

James is always good to read again. Living out our faith. Seems so simple, yet “Hypocrisy” became such a popular theme in the 90’s and on. People called out the Christians that didn’t live as they preached, or proclaimed they believed. It turned people away from “church.” Sometimes it was a quick excuse, yet often there was some great truth in it. For if you talk a big game, but don’t live that way, well, it not only is useless but can do more damage to the name of Christians as a whole as we have seen.
We should be different from the world. Fact. We should be transformed, but oftentimes we don’t see that. It takes dedication and eagerness to get into a true relationship with God, not religion. Not just a church attender. ouch.
Not just a daily devotional. ouch.
No, if I want to know someone, I must spend time with them.
I am often amazed that professing Christians don’t read the word. (Thank you SRT, Amanda and Rachael, for seeking to make it a declaration for women to READ together daily the word of God!) It has changed my life! Christians are afraid to pray for others out loud! Christians are afraid to stand up and firm on our beliefs! How can this be? Because we love the world. And the world is louder, bigger, and more alluring.
It funny, in fact, that James didn’t recognize Jesus as Jesus. He was the non-believing brother (who would believe their sibling?!) But..after the cross and the resurrection- the truth came flooding in! That can happen to us to, even as Christians growing up (our religion) there comes a very vivid point, where all the sudden you are on your knees and you “NEED” God to be your Savior and Helper, the ONLY one that can help you. And then, if you get on board, grab onto him…and don’t let go (for many WILL let go), you will eagerly walk with him, listen to him, and learn more about him and slowly see transformation. Then one day we share that transformative power with others because we know it’s worth! We crave it and want it, and need it. It is more valuable than gold! More life-giving then water and food. And how can we NOT share that! The KEY to life! The GLORY behind our breath. We can’t wait to share it with anyone and everyone! Good news is shareable. Thank you James for your perfect little letter that still resonates today!

    A couple of great songs-
“More Like Jesus” by Once Voice
It starts off by what has been the world’s way- but it never gives us what we seek after.
And then there’s Phil Whicham’s “The Jesus
    Way!”

Looking forward to another study with Ya’ll. 11 years and going with SRT! 11 years in reading my Bible daily with Jesus.
Don’t forget it is the READING of the Word week!! 7 days of the Bible being read streamed daily! It was a great kickoff Saturday night you can watch on CBN channel. And try to catch as much as you can this week! It is a privilege to live in a free country with religious freedom. Persecution is everywhere, and has shown up more and more here. We need to turn back to God as a nation, as we know, but we GET a real way to support that RIGHT now!! Be sure to like, comment and share to show them we like this! And then National Day of Prayer is May 7th! Be sure to make an effort to go to a public celebration! It matters.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Wow, Rhonda, what great truths! The way the words pour out of you – sometimes you remind me of Paul! I hope that brought the chuckle I anticipate {wink}.The difference is I understand what you’re saying- maybe because it’s woman speak. ☺
      .
The Bible reading is available throught CBN on Youtube as well! ❤

      1. Rhonda J says:

Lol..yes, I always say I go round and round like Paul!
And yes, words pour out quite often. When I teach at jail, they(the volunteers) are astonished (as I am), what comes out from the Spirit! You can literally tell when it’s Rhonda (stuttery and nervous), or the Spirit through me with so much power and needed words! It’s definitely woman speak! :) It makes me think back to 8 years ago, when I wanted to comment, but didn’t b/c our She’s have so much wisdom, and I didn’t want to sound unwise. Well..as my nephew said so well…”just say- My name is Rhonda J and I love Jesus…”
Something about writing for me is so much easier than talking and it has grown me! :)

        1. Cee Gee says:

❤ love your nephew’s advice! ☺☺☺ Yes, I almost said that I remember when you didn’t post much! ❤

    2. Mercy says:

Hypocrisy- the yeast of the Pharisees that we must all guard. Small, invisible but spreading and defiling the whole church. Yikes! Thank you for this.

    3. Kat D says:

“ We should be transformed, but oftentimes we don’t see that. It takes dedication and eagerness to get into a true relationship with God,..”

Transformed Christians, not being hypocritical or just pretending to be believers.

  60. Wendy B says:

So looking forward to this study. Lots of verses to read through this morning as we read the entirety of James to prepare and really appreciate Lindsay’s thoughts:
“James urges us to let the gospel sink into every area of our lives. All of it…..Part of the gift of us coming to the scriptures repeatedly and consistently is the way God continues to form and shape us into a more wholehearted follower of Jesus, allowing His words to work their way out of us in everything we do.”

Yes, Lord, let it be so. As we take time to study your Word, let it sink into our hearts, minds and souls. May it guide us, lead us, change us and transform us to live the life you have called us to. We are a gathering of sisters from all ages, seasons and stages of life and places across the world and yet our hearts desire is the same and united: to live for you Lord. Give us teachable hearts, fresh eyes, bless and encourage us as we look to you as we seek to be your servants and learn more of living for you and loving you well. Amen

    1. Cee Gee says:

Joining in that prayer with my amen in Jesus’ name! ❤

    2. Tricia C says:

Joining you in prayer for this, Wendy! Amen

    3. Mercy says:

Thank you for your thoughtful prayer. Amen!

  61. Samantha Thompson says:

Going through the book of Acts throughout this next year with Crosspoint church online, James with SRT, and reading A Jesus Shaped Life by Lisa Harper, all while in the midst of purchasing my family’s business??? I think the Holy Spirit is being relentless in making sure I’m rooted in the Word and the truth at every moment. It’s so easy to get distracted from what I’ve read each morning when life is life-ing hard, but He has set me up to not forget and to rely on Him every step of the way! Praise Be to God!

    1. Cee Gee says:

  62. Rhonda J.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

sorry for the duplicate post! Wifi was messing with me this morning.

      1. Cee Gee says:

I replied to the other one! ❤

    2. Lanie H says:

thank you for the recommendation of the CBN! I hadn’t heard about where to watch that! I just dipped in and it was on judges… yikes! lol

  63. Lanie H says:

as soon as I read Lindsey’s first line, “I’m a person who loves to talk in theoreticals.” it’s me. my superlative in OT school was deepest thinker. lol. I have often struggled with james for this reason. but now as a new mom, my deep thinking and reflection is gone. Its been really hard not connecting with God in this way in this season. I’m hoping to see how my day to day “doing” can connect to God in this season. I often feel like I’m not “doing” enough for the kingdom of God, so praying this read though doesn’t exacerbate my insecurities!

    1. Cee Gee says:

Lanie, I had those same thoughts as I studied James recently (Jen Wikkins) and I join you in praying that we will all be more ENCOURAGED than DISCOURAGED as we study alongside our loving sisters here! ❤
      .
I’m only an hour away if you ever want to grab a coffee and discuss things. ❤

      1. Lanie H says:

yes! I promise I will make time one day! I was actually thinking about you Thursday, I was in Clemson treating!

        1. Cee Gee says:

Ah, man!!! Let’s make that happen! I think I messaged you my phone # on the She’s FB page. ❤

  64. Kathryn Zell says:

I just read James recently! It was a challenge for myself to read the word for readings sake, continuity and fullness.
    Excited to dig in.

  65. Kerry Owens says:

♥️ im looking forward to this study.

  66. Karen Swanson says:

“I will build my days around time with God, not just squeeze him into what is left.” A quote I read yesterday that, after reading comments about not making time with God a priority, I thought I would share. And I’m preaching to the choir….. because last night I was watching television. Just flipping channels. And I saw my prayer journal on the coffee table. The spirit finally got a hold of me and I turned off the television and prayed instead. Deeply convicted.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Thank you for sharing that, Karen; great encouragement!

  67. Sheryl says:

I am so looking forward to this study, I look forward to being challenged and encouraged!
This is a great summary of James’s teaching “In other words, true religion puts our boots on the ground in the world we live in for the sake of those around us. It means our faith is lived out through our works and our work is done in full faith—narrowing the gap between what we say we believe and how we actually live.”
    Thank you, Lindsay!

    1. Cee Gee says:

  68. Melissa Vandiver says:

Love the book of James! What a full read on Monday morning, but it is great to read it all straight through. Going to go through it with me boys also, real faith in action.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

I was excited on the day I finally got my husband to join me that we were able to read the WHOLE book of James! That was a God wink to me…because he will go back to work on Wed and would inevitably fall off after tomorrow without my pushing lol.
I love that you are doing it with your boys!!

  69. Chelsea N. says:

I am excited to dig into the book of James! I have missed getting on here to read studies. Life has been busy and exhausting this last year, I haven’t been making time to read my Bible. I’m asking for prayers for my husband and I. I don’t really have specifics to share, just we need prayers. I guess I do have one specific, finances. We can always use prayers over our finances. Prayers and hugs to everyone on here!

    1. Darby Byrd says:

      Praying Chelsea ❤️

    2. jennifer Hensley says:

Praying for your husband and for you

    3. Cee Gee says:

Chelsea, that’s so hard and can have such a ripple effect! Prayers for wisdom in sorting out your finances/budget. ❤

    4. Teresa Cooper Donley says:

Praying for you and your husband, Chelsea.

  70. Diana Patrick says:

Praying we all can be closer with God after these three weeks. ❤️

  71. Tanya Evans says:

Good morning,Shes. My new Inductive Study Bible has this section at the beginning of each new book of the Bible called Things To Do.
Mark each reference to the recipients. I marked a lot of things but over and over: Brothers and Sisters. He is talking to us! He is talking to believers in every century and all walks of life! Men and women!
Requesting prayer: I am co-leading a life group this fall. We are doing Romans. I don’t know how I missed this study in She Reads Truth but I think I might go back and do the She Reads Truth Romans Study.

    1. Heidi says:

So fun! Romans is A LOT!!!! ;) I wanted to share a resource my classmates and I used CONSTANTLY (probably too much…lol). Dr. Tom Constable was a prof from my seminary (long retired by time I was a student) and he has published online ALL of his full outlines and exegetical notes on EVERY book in the bible. He comes from a wealth of wisdom and understanding and his notes are so helpful for reading/understanding scripture. ALL of it is FREE – just go to Sonic Light dot-com and you can read about him or just access the outlines to download. It would be a great resource for you and anything you’d want to share with your group about Romans :) I’ve been meaning to post about it here for everyone, you’ve prompted me so I will for James :) Have fun learning all about Romans!! :)

      1. Heidi says:

Just realized something – if you go to that soniclight page, there is a tab “AUDIO” – click it and on Constable’s name – he has an entire audio teaching section on the book of Romans!! I imagine it is rich with content…
        Just FYI if it helps!!
        Happy studying!! :)

      2. Tanya Evans says:

Thank you! Heidi I will look for this!

    2. Cee Gee says:

Tanya, that is a huge undertaking! Keep us pisted on soecific ways to pray as you begin to prepare. ❤

  72. Kayla Bostwick says:

    Amen!

  73. LaRae Taylor says:

    Amen

  74. Rachel in AL says:

Ladies, please pray for my friend Kay. I just found out her husband has been battling over 3 years . . . something. She is unable to share any details, he wants to keep it private. The only reason I know this much is she began crying when trying to tell me that she would not be helping her daughter out with new baby. I got the impression that the disease has now reached the point there is nothing else for the Dr.s to do. My heart just aches for her in imposed isolation. Thank you for prayers!

    1. Diana Patrick says:

      Praying!

    2. Lisa H says:

Praying for Kay and her family.

    3. Mercy says:

Praying for her husband’s situation and family.

    4. Cee Gee says:

Oh, Rachel, I am so sorry. I know it’s hard for you, too, and pray for you, Kay, her husband, and their daughter as she will miss out on that special time with her mom. ❤

    5. Teresa Cooper Donley says:

Oh, how sad that she and her husband don’t feel free to share what they’re going through with other Believers. I will keep them in my prayers.

  75. Deanna Kohlhofer says:

    Can’t wait to dig in!

  76. Aimee D-R says:

  81. Sundayschoolteacher says:

Good morning She’s. Praying God uses the book of James to soak in to my soul. I need to work on being quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry. Help me to listen more intently to God and others before replying.
Thanks for all the prayers for my husband’s surgery on last Thursday. All went well. Would appreciate prayers for recovery and his upcoming Physical Therapy session later this week.
Hope all of you have a wonderful Monday. Let’s shine our lights for Jesus today.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Thankful the surgery went well and prayers for an uneventful recovery!❤

  82. Kelly (NEO) says:

Coming off the Beatitudes into James is fabulous. I have heard it said that his letter is a commentary on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). So let’s look for application of the Beatitudes in James!
    .
Welcome to our new and returning Shes.

    1. Searching says:

      Great idea! ❤️

    2. Lanie H says:

ooh good perspective! today I kept being like oh heyyy beatitudes, I heard them sprinkled in all the way through!

  83. Helen Pennington says:

      Hello Helen. ❤️

      1. Helen Pennington says:

        Hi

  84. Lynne from Alabama says:

Good morning, sweet sisters! Good to see all of you from “across the pond” and the few early birds like me in the USA. May God use this study to urge us on to be more like Him! Have a blessed day! ❤️

    1. Cee Gee says:

  85. Donna Mitchell says:

Good morning Shes. I am excited to be reading, studying and meditating on the Word with you.

  86. Jasmine says:

Good morning! I look forward to this study as well. This immediately popped in my head when I read about being a doer of faith, from the words of my mother (among many others I’m sure ;))… “Don’t just talk about it, be about it.”

Prayers for this SRT community with whatever you may need.

  87. Cee Gee says:

“It doesn’t matter how many “right” things I think and talk about or how buttoned-up my theology is if I never actually put any of it into practice.”-Lindsey Jacobi

You may remember my mention of studying Jamex recently. Like Lindsey I felt like my ‘toes got stepped on every time I read it! Our pastor many years ago had a phrase he used when he started a sermon on a tough topic:
“You better put on your steel-toed boots this mkrning!”

So, SHES, put on your steel-toed boots ’cause we’re gonna
    need ’em!!!

I look forward to your shares each day!

    Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤

    1. Mercy says:

steel-toed boots :) sweet idea, thank you for the reminder CEE GEE. I used to have one of these when going through construction sites in my real estate appraisal days.

      1. Cee Gee says:

  88. Elizabeth Dodson says:

Good morning from Athens, Greece! Looking forward to this study as I end the Easter holidays here and return to my studies in the UK.
I’m currently studying theology and fell into the trap we were warned of at the beginning of the course- that of studying the Word academically, but neglecting personal, devotional reading. Please pray for me that I would be more intentional about this!

    1. Jennifer Branch says:

Good Morning from Bucine, Italy! I am here for my sisters wedding; how nice to see others across the “pond” and studying the same word.

    2. Heidi says:

YYYYEEESSSSS!!!!! I graduated seminary last May after 3 years of study. And that is exactly what starts to happen… you’re learning more about God and church history and reading/interpreting so much scripture, you don’t even notice at first what you’re giving up. I encourage you to keep a strong boundary on yours and God’s personal time together ❤️ With all you are learning, it will be even richer than you could imagine!! :) ✨

    3. Mercy says:

Good morning from Canada, what a great adventure you have. I always want to visit :) praying for our intention to study on a deeper (doer) level.

    4. Cee Gee says:

Glad you are here! I have always wanted to go to Greece! ❤

    5. Teresa Cooper Donley says:

Elizabeth, how true it is to study the Bible academically and neglect personal study! I made that mistake when in seminary, and it really impacted my personal relationship with the Lord. I’m so impressed you were told about that danger at the beginning! I look forward to this personal study with you and our SRT sisters.

  89. Tina says:

    Good Morning!
    .
I have read through James this morning and shall continue to listen throughout the day.
    .
One thing that stood out to me and soooo reminded me of my long forgotten school motto..
    .
    FACTA NON VERBA.
    .
    ACTIONS NOT WORDS..
    .
    ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS..
    .
    With headings like..
    .
    Faith and wisdom.
    Poverty and riches.
    Testing and Tempting.
    Hearing and doing.
    Warning against prejudice.
    Faith and actions.
    Ouch, the tongue.
    Friendship with the world.
    Warning against boasting.
    Patience and prayers..
    .
I look forward to studying James.. (she says as she swallowed hard)
Am I ready to face the home truths?
Am I ready to change my ‘words not actions’ to Facta non Verba..
    Amen I ready?
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
    AMEN.
    .
A beautiful sunrise this morning, heralding in a new day, Thank you Father God.
    .
    Happy New day, my dears..
    Much love, hugs and prayers..x❤️
    .
I thought i had said thank you yesterday for all the comments in response to my lack of understanding the verse on Saturday.. I hadn’t, so
Thank you my sisters for your help in my understanding, but most importantly, thank you for taking the time to look up for me..
FACTA NON VERBA, right there, Thank you..❤️

    1. Lanie H says:

      Perfect summary ❤️

  90. Jordan Drennan says:

Good morning from Northern Ireland! Praying for you all as we start James. Pray that I would be able to complete this reading plan as I’ve not completed any since Advent and have not been getting into God’s Word as I long to!

    1. Tina says:

Morning Jordan..I will be praying for you and hopeful that we will meet here, as the early risers, each day in His Word..
      .
Blessings for today, my dear, covered in prayers..❤️

    2. Elizabeth Dodson says:

Nice to see another sister on this side of the world! I also have not been getting into the Word as I long to and will absolutely be praying for you!

    3. Cee Gee says:
