Scripture Reading: Genesis 15:1-21, Genesis 16:1-16, Romans 4:1-5, Galatians 3:15-18, Galatians 3:27-29, Galatians 4:1-7

Earlier today my phone lit up with a text message from a strange number. Curious, I glanced at the screen only to clock it as spam. I knew immediately from the promises of a free vacation that it was too good to be true. I quickly deleted the message, being careful not to click the suspicious link at the bottom.

I’m sure we’ve all received these messages. Whether in texts, commercials, or social media posts, we are inundated with guarantees of quick fixes and easy wins. Naturally, we’ve grown a little skeptical of anything that sounds miraculous.

And yet God promised the miraculous to Abram. When Abram was the ripe old age of 99 years old, God told him that he and Sarai would still give birth to a biological son. Not only would they have a son, but God was creating a covenant with Abram in which his family would become a great nation and all the world would be blessed through them. Of course, Abram had heard this before, almost 25 years prior in fact. After waiting so long for God to make good on His Word, and being far past child bearing years, Abram had some questions for God.

I find it encouraging that even though Abram questioned how God would accomplish His plan, he was still credited with having righteous faith. It seems that belief and questions can coexist (what a relief!). However, Abram’s choosing to believe God’s Word and promise is a crucial aspect of God entering into a covenant with him. We know that God did keep His Word, although it took a lot longer than Abram would have expected.

Just like Abram, we are called to put our trust in God despite any narratives to the contrary. As we bring our questions to Him, we can also walk with the belief that Jesus alone is the way to eternal life. Even when we feel like God is taking too long, we can have faith that Jesus will come back and make everything new in His perfect timing.

If our questions and fears ever start to overshadow the truth of the gospel, we can accept the same invitation God gave Abram. Go outside and look at the stars tonight. While you’re looking at the stars, remember that God once promised a childless 99-year-old man that he would have more descendants than all the tiny lights you can count. That man believed the seemingly impossible, trusting in God’s Word. And God used that man’s faith to create a lineage that would birth the Savior of the entire world. We, too, can choose to trust in God’s plan today because God always fulfills His promises.

Dear She’s! Reading and being blessed by all of your responses and so grateful for your prayers .
    Today’s devotional struck me
    concerning Abram’s age in
    particular.As Tina pointed out
I too at 66 feel the stamina, youth and vigor fading and this health crisis has brought it front and center, yet I still believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! God has promised
“unto hoar hairs I will carry you” and although at times these last few days fear has tried to take control I choose to look at the stars!!

    1. Gwineth52 says:

      Dear R
“I still believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living”
      How lovely…reciting Psalm 27:13.

I am so much like Abram and Sarai… How often do I try to help Him in my situations? I need to always remember to “let go and let God”! He will always, ALWAYS do what is best for me.

  9. Cathy Miller says:

Our God is faithful. For His purposes he may delay fulfillment but He will keep His word. Abraham’s faith was imperfect — after all, he and Sarah concocted their own solution to their childless condition by roping in Hagar as a surrogate mother. In His great mercy, He even blessed Hagar by saving her life and promising her a powerfully strong son (“…he shall be a wild man; his hand shall be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”) God knows our frame (Ps 103:14) and doesn’t lose patience with us. Despite Sarah’s harsh, mean spirited treatment, He brings Hagar through a horrible circumstance — Abraham and Sarah only wanted what they could get from Hagar, namely, the baby; Abraham didn’t even demonstrate that he had any feelings for her — this was almost a business transaction.

I love that God gives us personal promises. He knows us, and he loves us. I pray that I would rely on his personal promises. ❤️

  11. Mercy says:

Dear shes, I am coming asking for your prayers. First of all, my work situation is so overwhelming that I can hardly breathe. There is a new position that I am hoping to transition into with better leadership and chances for growth. I am applying and please pray for grace that I get selected. On top of this, my home chores are so behind and all over the place with my ADHD husband. He can’t keep up with just simple tasks, and also very aloof when I ask him to help with tidy things up. He stays home 5 days a week and only works on weekends, but the house is always in a huge mess and I have to pick up after him, and three young kids. He forgets appointments and time and is often late, even for kids school drop offs, which I have to handle while he sleeps in. I feel that he just loves to sit and scroll on his phone for it gives dopamine (i read that ADHD has this issue). Everything seems to fall on me, both work and house chores. I don’t know what to do and I feel so lonely ..and growing resentful slowly. He doesn’t understand. And I don’t understand either. I am new to ADHD and he is recently diagnosed with it, it affects my marriage, our children, parenting… that I only came to recognize…and trying my hardest to understand. My patience is running thin. And I feel that if i don’t do the house chores, things are never getting done. Thanks for listening to my rant. Forgive me, I am usually more upbeat. I need your prayers. This makes me so mad that I can hardly pray about this. Bless you shes and thank you so much.

    1. Searching says:

Dear Mercy, sweet sister, praying for you in this overwhelming, frustrating, maybe infuriating time in your work and home lives. Lord, we know You love Mercy even more than we do. Please let her feel Your love, Your everlasting arms around her as You provide the encouragement, strength and wisdom needed in these situations. We ask for grace and wisdom in the job opportunity, and for an abundance of all things needed for her to get caught up at home, for her husband’s sharing of the load to ease the enormous weight of responsibility she’s carrying. Thank you, Lord.
      .
      Love you, sister ❤️❤️❤️

    2. Cee Gee says:

Mercy, sweet sister, I am so glad you came to us with this heavy burden! I identify with some of those issues- not from adhd, but memory lapses and lack of drive. Like you I often feel as if things would not get done if not for me. So, I will be praying for your job situation and grace in getting the new position and also for med adjustments/exercises for improving your husband’s participation level. I am so sorry this has befallen you. I love you, little sis! ❤ Also, AMEN to SEARCHING’S prayer! ❤

    3. Kelly (NEO) says:

O Mercy. I’m so sorry you feel so overwhelmed. Praying God’s peace would envelop you and settle you down to accept the season you are in and if need be adjust your expectations to be what you can do and let other things go. Praying the job opportunity is one way your stress levels can come down too.

    4. Adrienne says:

Oh, Mercy, let us pray on your behalf. We are honored to do so. ❤️

    5. Rhonda J. says:

Oh Mercy friend, I am so sorry there is so much on your plate, with no help. The women always seem to keep the plates spinning in the air, even more frustrating with little to no help. Hugs and prayers. Surrender it to the Lord, and hang in there. You might have to be lovingly tough in the truth.

    6. Tami says:

Mercy I’m so sorry you are going through this. My husband was also diagnosed with ADHD not too long ago and since I have been researching it, I see how much it has impacted our marriage. I am reading a great book called “ADHD and marriage” and they also have a website with a lot of info. We are even starting an online class with them next week that will go for about 6 weeks. I’m praying it helps us to learn more about this and how to navigate it on our marriage. It definitely has had a huge impact but I feel more hopeful now with a plan of action. I’m praying for you.

    7. Truth Seeker says:

May God bless you and keep you in His Righteous right hand and give you strength.
My husband is also ADHD and very involved in his hobby work but falls short in household maintenance until it becomes severe such as a leaking roof that lets rain into our house. He will then go fix it ( Thank You God !) but then fall back into his oblivion of whatever it is he is interested at the time.
It IS a thing that needs to be processed by you and understood by you
and it is a difficulty in a marriage where we expect as wives that our husbands will do what they need to do
It may be helpful if you make out a “to do”list for your husband and mark off what gets accomplished

    8. Eileen Dowd says:

Praying, dear Mercy, even though it’s a day late but God hears our prayers!

    9. Foster Mama says:

Hi. I have written you a long response in Today (Saturday’s) comment.
Long, possibly convoluted but…I hope my care, hope, empathy, “can totally relate”, etc…will shine through:/

@TAMI, I’d love to hear more about the “ADHD and marriage” resource… perhaps on Monday:D

  12. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

“We, too, can choose to trust in God’s plan today because God always fulfills His promises.” Yes and amen, He certainly does!

    →Comfort in our trials – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

    →New life in Christ – 2 Corinthians 5:17

→Every spiritual blessing in Christ – Ephesians 1:3

→He promises to finish the work He started in us. – Philippians 1:6

→He promises peace when we pray – Philippians 4:6-7

→To supply all of our needs – Matthew 6:33
    —-
Standing on the promises of Christ, my King,
    Through eternal ages let his praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

    Refrain:
    Standing, standing,
    Standing on the promises of God, my Savior;
    Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail.
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Keep trusting God! Praying for all!

  17. Cee Gee says:

My takeaway thought after this reading: sometimes God delays. Sometimes we get in His way. Either way, we can trust His promises.
    .
Chapter 15 (snippets from Warren Wiersbe):
“‘And he believed in the LORD . . . .’ Promises do us no good unless we believe them and act on them. …
The Hebrew word translated “believed” means “to lean your whole weight upon.” Abram leaned wholly on the promise of God and the God of the promise. We are not saved by making promises to God but by believing the promises of God.”
    .
    Chapter 16
“He is a personal God, concerned about abused people and unborn babies. He knows the future and cares for those who will trust Him.”
    .
John MacArthur mentioned this passage in his commentary (my quote is from NLT):
    Abraham’s Two Children
21 Tell me, you who want to live under the law, do you know what the law actually says? 22 The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife.[a] 23 The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise.

24 These two women serve as an illustration of God’s two covenants. The first woman, Hagar, represents Mount Sinai where people received the law that enslaved them. 25 And now Jerusalem is just like Mount Sinai in Arabia,[b] because she and her children live in slavery to the law. 26 But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother. 27 As Isaiah said,

    “Rejoice, O childless woman,
you who have never given birth!
    Break into a joyful shout,
you who have never been in labor!
For the desolate woman now has more children
than the woman who lives with her husband!”[c]

28 And you, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Isaac. 29 But you are now being persecuted by those who want you to keep the law, just as Ishmael, the child born by human effort, persecuted Isaac, the child born by the power of the Spirit.

30 But what do the Scriptures say about that? “Get rid of the slave and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”[d] 31 So, dear brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman; we are children of the free woman.
    .
    Love, hugs, and prayers, SHES!

Sisters, I forgot to cite Galatians 4 in the quote by MacArthur!

  18. *Carrie says:

This is just what I needed to hear this wonderful Wednesday morning! I have faith and hope and God, but I feel like with the busyness of the world and all the tasks that we need to do, especially as mothers these things just fly under the radar and when we need them, we access them. It’s nice to be able to access these wonderful things and not absolutely need them, but simply be reminded of the glory of God and all of the things that he has promised us That he will bring to pass.

  19. Tanya Evans says:

I appreciate the story of Hagar. She was a slave but the angel of the Lord made the same promise to her. Genesis 16:10 ” The angel of the Lord said to her, I will greatly multiply your offspring, and they will be too many to count.”
The Lord even named her child and he heard her!
She was a woman,a slave, and a foreigner yet God SAW her.

    1. Gwineth52 says:

      Yes Tanya!
A woman. A slave. An outsider. Mistreated.
      BUT…
Hagar was seen. Heard. Talked with. Rescued.
      Memorialized through scripture.
      Bearer of a Promise.
Thanks be to God, who looks on high & bends low.

      1. Tanya Evans says:

“Thanks be to God, who looks on high and bends low.”❤️❤️❤️

  20. Karen Breaux says:

    Amen ✝️❤

  21. Kimberly Reed says:

What an awesome reminder of the covenant made making us (those in Christ) heirs! How often do I forget who I am-to whom I belong! The King is my Father and so many days I don’t behave as such. Thankful for grace and reminders.

    1. Kira H. says:

Oh yes! I loved the way you phrased this – I too am “thankful for grace and reminders.” May the Spirit continue to use a myriad of ways to remind us and point us back to the grace of God. Amen!

  22. Laura says:

This story has always been important to me. My heart always goes out to Hagar, who seemingly was an innocent participant in this whole mess. Used by Sarai, unloved and used by Abram. Yet God SAW her. He spoke to her! And He promised her blessing in the midst of all this mess. I related to this story so much when my husband confessed his affair to me. I felt like an innocent bystander. Often people want to point fingers at both parties, and often, I’m sure, that is the case. But I was blindsided. I was praying for healing in my marriage. I was calling out to God and seeking Him. At first, I was so confused. Why was this happening when I had prayed for God to fix my marriage? But I walked THROUGH the valley, WITH God by my side. I drew even closer to Him and He saw me. And He spoke to me several times and comforted me. I have never felt so seen and loved by God than during that time in my life. And He did fulfill His promise to love me and never leave me. He did fulfill His promise to remain with me. The situation did not miraculously get fixed. The pain did not suddenly go away and everything was sunshine and roses. But as I continue to cling to the Lord, He is making all things new, in HIS timing. And it is taking a long time. We are moving into the 9th year of rebuilding and renewing our marriage. It has been an upward climb, but one that we are doing together WITH GOD at the center.

It makes me sad for Hagar that she had to endure this pain. But to be known and seen by God is the best gift we can have. And to know that He is walking with us, no matter how much we mess things up, makes our faith in Him that much stronger.

    1. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

Amen Laura! Praising God that you chose to stay and let God work out His healing in your heart. I’m sure it could not have been easy – but with God, all is possible. Praying that God continues to strengthen your marriage relationship, and that your children will see the picture of repentance and forgiveness that is being played out in your lives. ❤️

    2. Gwineth52 says:

      Beautifully spoken, kind Laura.

This hymn was my anthem 15 years ago when I went through a scary health period. Jesus, forgive me that I can’t remember when I have sung it last…or fully committed to its lyrics.

    1. Foster Mama says:

Oops, this was supposed to be tied to @ RHONDA J’s sharing of “I Surrender All” :/

      1. Rhonda J says:

It is SO hard to Surrender all! The next small group study I picked (Jesus led) is called Surrendered! I am anxious to commit to being Surrendered, in the good, hard, and all! Love you Foster Mama!

  25. Foster Mama says:

I love reading about Abram / Abraham and his faith… often referring in my own life that God said “Go” but didn’t give him all the detailed specifics.

But…I admit, I anxious to get to my childhood Sweetie (Joseph ❤️)!!

When I was 11 yo, I decided that I was going to have 3 sons (biological, then adopted, then biological)…The third of them was to be named Abraham (and all 3 had middle name: Joseph)!!

Oh, the things we plan! Still, I always felt Jesus shining down on me in my little plans ❤️

    1. Margaret W. says:

      And did you? ❤️

      1. Foster Mama says:

        :) Nope!

I see now that (in many other ways too) God was implanting in me a profound love for caring for children “not from my body” but through fostering, not adoption.

(But, It certainly always give me a tickle on my heart when I meet anyone with the names I dreamt about)

  26. Wendy B says:

He is who He says He is. He does what He says He will do. He always keeps His promises. He was faithful then, He is faithful now. When in doubt, look to the stars.
Thank you Lord that you fulfill your promises, that we can trust you. Help me Lord, to walk in obedience to you, seeking you in all things, holding fast to your Word. Amen

Reminds me of the song “I Believe” by Charity Gayle…

I believe You are who You say You are
You do what You say You’ll do
You’ll come through, You are always able
I believe (yes) You’ve already made a way so I’m running through parted waves
Straight to You, You are always faithful
I believe (yes, in the Mighty name of Jesus), I believe ❤️

  27. Maria B says:

Good morning, SHEs! Reading today’s devotion, I was thinking how here is another example that always confuses me but really shows that only God truly knows what’s in our hearts—God’s response to Abram questioning how he would have a child in his old age compared to Zechariah’s questioning. I think the key difference seems to be in their heart posture: God knew Abram questioned out of faith, seeking reassurance of His plan, while Zechariah questioned out of doubt, struggling to believe what seemed impossible. This contrast in God’s responses highlights how He looks at the condition of our hearts, not just the words we say.

    1. Rhonda J says:

That came to my mind as well, that Zachariah lost his voice when questioning! Thanks for clarifying!

      1. Margaret W. says:

Zachariah also had many more years of revelation from God to go on than Abraham had, so there is that. But ultimately, God knew their hearts.

    2. Gwineth52 says:

      Hello Maria B
I appreciated your, and others, additional context & commentary.
Another way we listen & learn together, as Women in the Word everyday!

  28. Rhonda J. says:

Another couple of songs I love in the “wait and trust” season is by Elavation Worship “Wait on You!” and “More Than Able!”

  29. Rhonda J. says:

The way of faith..patience, trust, obeying, waiting, knowing, reliance, hope—giving our all to the Lord in earnest. Not easy…HARD. But all character building (sanctification) to be Holy as He is Holy.

Sacrifice of ourselves, free of self (flesh) and pride. We don’t like the word “surrender.” Because we are taught to be over-comers, warriors, courageous, and successful- But it is WITH God, Through God, Wisdom of God, and Direction of God. That is the way of faith, credited to Him, our Maker. All for His Glory!

Lord, keep building my faith, which comes with surrender- comes with suffering, pain, affliction and trial, otherwise it’s easy to have faith, but to trust you with everything- my finances, my health, my loved ones…YOU LORD have the best way.

    “I Surrender All”
    Verse 1
    All to Jesus, I surrender;
    All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live.
I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
    I surrender all.

    Verse 2
    All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
    I surrender all.

    Verse 3
    All to Jesus, I surrender;
    Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.
I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
    I surrender all.

    Verse 4
    All to Jesus, I surrender;
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.
I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
    I surrender all.

    1. Therese says:

      Amen! ❤️

    2. Christy says:

  31. Mari V says:

HE always fulfills HIS promises! YES, HE does! I believe THIS promise! The waiting can torturous as Abraham, being human just like us, MISTAKES and all may have felt, YET used by GOD and here we are! What we are waiting for and praying for may not always be like we had desired/wanted, BUT our God knows best. Daddy knows best! Sometimes when I get down on myself, I think about promises like this and I know, that I know I can trust my Jesus to see/walk me through it! AND then wait! Even when it’s hard! Happy Wednesday beautiful She’s. It’s youth group night, so its going to be a LONG night for. Oh…Oh…being praying for our youth as we are going on a youth retreat on this extended weekend up in the mountains. Being praying for me as I know I’m probably not going to be physically resting much, but I know it will be fun!

    1. Christy says:

Amen!❤️ Lifting you and your youth group up in prayer, Mari V!

      Amen, same!

  34. Danielle B says:

“I find it encouraging that even though Abram questioned how God would accomplish His plan, he was still credited with having righteous faith. It seems that belief and questions can coexist (what a relief!).“ yes Katie so encouraging that we don’t have to be perfect to be seen as righteous by God.

      1. Eileen Dowd says:

        Thank you, Kelly!

  38. Kelly (NEO) says:

I love the forshadowing of Gen. 15:17 that gives a picture of the New Covenant we have in Christ.
Normally both parties of the covenant would walk to the animal pieces to ratify it, yet Abram was in a “deep sleep” (yet aware) while only God (Father and Son? -the fire pot and flaming torch) passed through. We who were dead in our sin can enter the New Covenant because God (Father and Son) inaugurated it.

      .
Agreeing with you in each of these prayers! ❤

    3. Christy says:

Praise God for the New Covenant. This week’s podcast had some really wonderful insights about the connection between the Abrahamic Covenant and the New Covenant. It mentioned how God came down to use their language of covenants where a stronger party would say if we enter into a covenant I’m promising I will protect you and provide for you and the weaker party would enter into that covenant and promise loyalty and obedience. They would literally cut a covenant by cutting the two animals apart and each party would walk through the path to pledge that if they did not keep their part may what happened to the animals happen to me. So when God was the only one passing through he showed his intentions and faithfulness by saying I am going to keep both sides of the covenant for you and if I don’t keep this may what happened to these animals happen to me. So when Christ is crucified and we’re told the curtain is split in two the curtain torn is the body of Christ and so that is Christ being laid out for us and now we are invited to walk through that path into covenantal relationship with the Lord and salvation.
      .
Thank you so much for lifting me up in prayer, Kelly (NEO). I’m so grateful for all of you!❤️

    4. Gwineth52 says:

      Hey Kelly
“We who were dead in our sin can enter the New Covenant because God (Father and Son) inaugurated it.”
      Now THAT’S profound!

  39. Searching says:

So many things caught my attention but I think my main takeaway is this oft heard phrase “All in God’s timing” and Job 42:2 (NIV) “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
    .
Even after Abram questions God about inheriting the land and follows Sarai’s idea rather than God’s plan for an heir, God accounts to him as righteousness for what he does believe.
Also noticed God’s response to Abram’s question here (Gen 15:8 And he said, “Lord God, how shall I know that I will inherit it?”) vs to Zacharias’ similarly worded question in Luke 1:18 (And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”).
Only God knows our heart’s posture.

SHARON JERSEY GIRL- same re Abram being a warrior! I always think of him as old
CEE GEE – love those songs from yesterday ❤️

    1. Christy says:

Such wonderful insight! Thank you for your prayers, Searching. ❤️

    2. Kira H. says:

Thank you for pointing out that the difference between Abram’s questioning and Zechariah’s questioning is heart posture, which only the Lord can know! That was something my mind snagged on, and I am grateful for this viewpoint which helps me make sense of it.

  40. Tina says:

Who wants a child at 99??
I mean, what exactly can you do with said child at 99? I am 66 this year and my hands are beginning to feel incapable of holding a 2K bag of potatoes, let alone 7lb baby!
I looovvvee having my great grandson visit, but I need to lay down for a couple of hours when he goes home.! The stamina, strength and vigour of the younger me, disappearing as time goes by..
    .
    BUT GOD.
    .
    When He promises, He promises.
    .
No holds barred. Age has nothing to do with God’s promises, nor His bringing that promise about!
It will come to fruition, on time, at the right time, God’s good timing!
    .
At this moment in my life, my one longing, is that I may find ‘love’ again. That I will find someone who will see ME, warts and all, and still say ” ..she is good.. ”
I have given my heart and soul to God, aye, that I have, but what a joy it would be to know love this side of heaven one more time, and get it right!
You know what, suddenly, I’m thinking whether now or when I’m 99, God WILL keep His promise, because He is a promise keeper, whatever my age!!
    .
Way maker, came to mind, literally, but when I looked it up .. Promise keeper, caught my eye..
    .
You God’s is a covenant unbroken,
You made it known through history.
Your love will never be unfaithful.
Never walk out on me, never walk out on me.
I have no reason to doubt You,
Who you’ve been, You’ll always be,
And though the future’s still unfolding,
With everything I’ve seen, how could I not believe?
YOU ARE A PROMISE KEEPER. YOUR WORD WILL NEVER FAIL.
My eye are going to see miracles and victories.
    YOU ARE A PROMISE KEEPER..
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
    AMEN..
    .
    Happy Wednesday, beloveds!❤❤❤

      2. Margaret W. says:

If you’re praying along these lines, remember me! I was married for 27 years and have 5 lovely children, but my marriage was a total lie. I have never known a true, healthy, godly love except for my college sweetheart, and I was completely unready to make a healthy marriage at the time. (He has had a lovely marriage, though, and I am happy for him.) But I don’t even know if I have the courage to hope for such a love.

    5. Mari V says:

    9. Indiana Elaine says:

In response to “Who wants a child at 99??” I heard the reason women don’t have children at our age is because we would forget where we put them!!

    10. Gwineth52 says:

      Hey Tina
It’s gonna come, girl, just you wait!

  41. Julia C says:

    1) God comforts, protects, gives us hope.
2-3) Ambram has questions, but looks to God to strengthen his faith.
    4-5) God repeats His promise.
    6) Abram believed and God credited it to him as righteousness.
    7) God reminds Abram who He is.
    8) Abram boldy asks God for proof of the promise.
9-16) God again, repeats His promise, and reveals His heart to Abram.
17-20) God signs the covenant. Abram never did! It was a unilateral covenant that could never fail, because God cannot fail.

    Our God does it all!
With all His heart He loves us.
He is our shield and our reward.
I am often reminded of the Westminster Shorter Chatechism where it says that our “chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever”. Oh what a “day” that will be!

On that day we will see you
    shining brighter than the Sun
On that day we will know you
as we lift our voice as one
Till that day we will praise you
    for your never ending grace
And we will keep on singing
    on that glorious day
    (CityAlight, On That Day)

    1. Tina says:
