Luke 6:46-49

This week, as a community, we’d like to pause between plans and refresh the way rhythms we use to read God’s Word. Join us as we dig into some familiar (or not so familiar) pieces of scripture and seek our Father together by reading and processing this truth.

Today’s passage is Luke 6:46-49

First, let’s pray. Ask the Lord to open your heart and your mind and to help you focus on Him. Confess the things that might be keeping you from really truly experiencing His presence and submit your time to His will.

Second, let’s read Truth! Take your time and see what catches your attention. Make notes of what impresses you and moves you. Try to see the whole picture of what the passage is conveying. What does it say about God?

Next, reflect on what He’s saying. What does this passage mean for you and for the body of Christ? Is there anything you feel like He is personally communicating to you for your exact season, situation, or circumstance?

Lastly, let’s respond. Prayerfully and humbly, see what’s next. What do you need to do in light of what you’ve read? How will it affect your day, your life, and your walk with the Lord?

And as always, feel free to share with us in the comments below!
It is our joy to read Truth with you all.

  1. Digging deep. When we go to His word, when we take the time to look up passages, marking them, listening, recalling them through the day as we are doing, God says we are “digging deep”. I love that. I did notice something….He says whoever comes to “me” and hears “my sayings”. I really think this has to do with specifically reading scripture. I love reading and we all probably read many Christian books, which may qualify as “digging” truth, but Jesus is saying, if you want to dig “deep” come to “my sayings”. This is why I love She Reads Truth…it’s putting me back into the red words of Jesus.

Listening to God is easier said than done, even when we ASK for the help. The scripture says "Why do you call me "Lord, Lord," and not do what I tell you?". When we cry out for help, our compassionate, loving God ALWAYS answers and prompts our next move. But more often than not we choose to ignore it and do it our own way (like teenagers) than truly doing what we know we SHOULD and what God told us to.

Today I pray that before I pray for any prayer or help from my Daddy God, I will be prepared to LISTEN TO HIM and HIS SOLUTION. Just as in Matthew 26:39, just like Jesus submitting to God, even though I might be concerned, fearful or doubtful, I say, NOT AS I WILL BUT AS YOU WILL. Amen.

This passage hit me. My roots are not as deep as they need to be. Also this reminded me of a saying I heard a lot growing up and still do. God asks us why we are kind and polite to him but do not do as he asked. We used to say you talk the talk but can you walk the walk. I think at times we also try to just talk the talk with our savior instead of walking the walk we have been asked to do. I have been this way for a long time and have a new goal of making sure that my savior sees me not only talk the talk but walk the walk also. Our savior shows us that our roots and foundations must be deep and strong. Without action and doing what is asked of us this can be hard to do. This was a great passage that I really needed today.

I took time away from SRT and something called me to the site today for which I am grateful – I needed to read this passage today about digging DEEP and really digging. It means so much to me and my heart.

Graphics, thanks for the video! :)
I love this, because it shows you what a real, true, intimate relationship with Christ is in your life- an unshakable rock to put absolutely everything on! it reminds me to invest ALL of my life in God, and to give ALL of it to him- if anything is left off the rock, it will perish, just like the foolish builders' house did. Putting God's words into action makes them real, meaningful, and it binds them to our habits and roots as people. It makes His word in our hearts truly alive. It also makes me wise. Having a true, living, personal relationship with Christ makes me confident in trial and in change, because if God and a relationship with Him are the only things that truly matter at the end of the day, it puts everything else into perspective- and we will not be shaken. Lord, I thank you for giving me the chance to have a relationship with you- please help me to remember in my times of temptation and anger at you, how the things in my life that were not based in you were destroyed.
Lord, let there be more and more of you- and only You. I pray that you'd search my heart, soul, and mind for anything in my life that is not based in you or that displeases you, and help me to correct it accordingly for Your will and glory. I love you Lord! You are so good!
