Grace Day

Open Your Bible

Philippians 2:9–11

Take today to pause from the busyness of the season to catch up on your reading and make space for prayer. Consider making time for one of the ideas from your lists on pages 16–17 to practically and tangibly embody the rhythms of waiting and celebrating. Together we celebrate that Christmas Day has come, and we continue our own wait for Jesus to come again.

For this reason God highly exalted him
and gave him the name
that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow—
in heaven and on earth
and under the earth—
and every tongue will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
—Philippians 2:9–11

This is so powerful. In heaven — angels and redeemed saints. On earth — living humanity. Under the earth — the dead and spiritual powers in rebellion. No realm is excluded. This day will happen,… will bow, …will confess. There will be a universal fulfilment. We are given a peekaboo glimpse right here. It’s not yet. Many people presently still bow to false gods, ideologies, or themselves. “Every tongue will confess” does not mean every person is redeemed. False worship will be sorted out. There will be a universal acknowledgement of Christ’s Lordship. I can only imagine the magnitude of that day. God is truly to be feared. I have chills meditating on this verse. Glory and honor and praise forever be to His Name✨✨✨.

EVERY knee shall bow! EVERY tongue confess! EVERYONE is going to see this! I’m always taken when it mentions in this verse that even, under the earth. EVERYONE! I along with many others have loved and really enjoyed this Advent Study. This year I paid more attention to the Advent study book and made sure to use it! I normally only get the study book for Advent and Lent. Considering getting the subscription box, but will have to wait. I LOVE you so much! AND always look forward meeting you all here in the beautiful platform of She’s! I go back to work Monday for an all-day Pro-Act training, and students start on Tuesday! I have rested, slept in, and really enjoyed my time off, but looking forward to seeing those little munchkins. ONE last trip before I start on Monday. Heading to a couple of Beach towns, even though its rainy, wet and windy. Pray for safe travels. Trying out a new coffee shop in Monterey and then heading to Santa Cruz to continue are our own version of a Coffee Crawl. Monterey is where my daughter will attend college in the Fall. Sigh…..

    1. Cee Gee says:

❤ Oh, Mari, sounds like the perfect day for a coffee crawl!
Prayers for safe travel and sweet finds! ❤

Oh the day that Jesus gets the glory that He so deserves. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that HE IS LORD! You deserve it all, Jesus!
    .
    All the saints and angels
    They bow before Your throne
All the elders cast their crowns
Before the Lamb of God and sing
You are worthy of it all
You are worthy of it all, Jesus
For from You are all things
And to You are all things
    You deserve the glory

This is a powerful passage of scripture and a challenge to every posture of our being – heart, mind and body to be kneeling before the Lord. Everyday, for all things.

Heavenly Father, help this be the rythym of my heart, the pattern of my life to be submitted and bowing before you, confessing and praising you and giving worship in all I do. You are worthy of it all. Amen❤️

    1. Cee Gee says:

  15. Cee Gee says:

I saw 2 things in my reading that apply to yesterday’s study:
On Philippians 2:15, John MacArthur notes:
“character. “Shine” can be more precisely rendered “you have to shine,” which means believers must show their character in the midst of a dark culture, as the sun, moon, and stars shine in an otherwise dark sky (see notes on Matt. 5:16; 2 Cor. 4:6; Eph. 5:8).”

AND, the Biblegateway verse of the day- only God!-certainly applies:
    Titus 2:11-12 NLT
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,”

The WORD of GOD TEACHES US to say “NO!” That’s one area I want to experience ‘completion’ this year. I argue ‘no’ with my flesh over an attitude I very much want to conquer. Trusting that consistency in the Word continues to strengthen that NO!

I learned something new today about the name referred to here. I always thought it was JESUS. The verse says “at the name if Jesus”, but I fiund this nite in MacArthur’s Study Bible:

“2:10- at the name of Jesus. “Jesus” was the name bestowed at His birth (Matt. 1:21), not His new name. The name for Jesus given in the fullest sense after His exaltation was “Lord” (see note on v. 11).
    .
2:11-Lord. See note on v. 9. “Lord” primarily refers to the right to rule, and in the NT it denotes mastery over or ownership of people and property. When applied to Jesus, it certainly implies His deity, but it mainly refers to sovereign authority. glory of God the Father. The purpose of Christ’s exaltation (cf. Matt. 17:5; John 5:23; 13:31, 32; 1 Cor. 15:28).”
    ✨✨✨✨✨
I just came acriss this beautiful sing by We the Kingdom. I had to turn in captions ti undertand the wirds. Just a hint. ☺
“Lay down your burdens to the Giver of Life”.
That’s a beautuful way to start the new year.

[Submission will also be expressed by verbal confession. “Every” indicates a universal acknowledgment of Christ’s sovereignty, even by his enemies. Paul does not imply by this a universal salvation, but means that every personal being will ultimately confess Christ’s lordship, either with joyful faith or with resentment and despair.

This ultimate confession that “Jesus Christ is Lord” is apparently Paul’s indication of the “name” granted Jesus at his exaltation following the Cross (v.9). That name with all the dignity and divine prerogatives this implies will eventually be recognized by every creature. Of course, the Son in his nature was always deity, but the exaltation following the Cross granted him the dignity of station commensurate with his nature and far superior to his humble state while on earth.

“To the glory of God the Father” is Paul’s closing doxology to this remarkable Christology. He has never lost sight of the divine order and of the grand scheme in which the incarnation of Christ must be viewed. Recognition of Christ’s lordship fulfills the purpose of the Father and so brings glory to God.]
      ✨✨✨
I chose brackets instead of quotaion marks since so many ” are in the text. ☺
Can you imagine the sound when EVERY tongue makes that confession if it happens simultaneously?!

      1. Jennifer AndersMiller says:

I try to imagine the sound of everyone confessing Jesus is Lord. I think it will be like worship in a packed church but magnified to a number that I can’t fathom.. like to think of it as all praise and feel sick knowing some of it won’t be done with joy.

        1. Cee Gee says:

Yes, that is a sobering aspect of that moment! Thank you for drawung attention to that. ❤

Is there a community fb for Acts?

    1. Rhonda J. says:

There is an official public SRT page on FB, but it doesn’t seem to get much action and conversation, so I created a private group for us. That way we can share pictures and prayers requests, struggles, praises. And yes, discussing the current study!! (So excited for Acts!!)

Find us by searching private groups — SRT SHE’S. You MUST answer the question and put SRT to be accepted!

  17. Rhonda J. says:

The song “Here I Am To Worship” keeps playing through my head.
    Here I am to Worship
Here I am to bow down,
here I am to say that You’re My God!!

We are here to glorify Him. We are here to point everyone to him! To glorify him with our lives, our stories and testimonies, our everything! WE though think we are here to have a perfect, lots of “stuff” life, like the world. WE are not of this world, we are to live differently. We are to be a light to the world, to our neighborhood, to our family—-pointing to God! Living like we know Jesus. No fear and anxiety, no lies and gossip, no hate and shallowness, no Me—Him! whoosh! Hard for sure, but it really becomes second nature when you are in the word daily, praying, meditating, hiding scripture in your heart (which I want to continue to do!!), and walking hand and hand with my Savior every day!

Lord, let us rise putting our trust and faith in you each morning, knowing whatever may come- you are there with us. Let us ask for your daily bread each day, and thank you for your Mercy that is new every morning. As we make our way through the day let us keep you at the forefront and your name continuously on our lips. May we anticipate divine encounters or little miraculous things around us. Help us to look how we can integrate helping others or saying an encouraging word to someone, in our family as well. Help us not to grow weary and tired, run down- but to regenerate us daily in hope, peace, joy, and love!! As the day comes to an end, may we rejoice and be thankful. If we face trials let us remember that we can’t do it on our own, that is why we need strength only you can give. Let us rely on you 100 percent. Let us honor your name and bow in gratitude, for you ARE the Name above all names, Lord of lords, and King of kings! And YES—Remind us we stomp on the servants head…we have you power to defeat the evil one- let no She let that horrible one oppress us! We know the very Name of Jesus says he must flee! Hallelujah!! In His Mighty name AMEN!!

  21. Kelly (NEO) says:

I wonder if the name only Jesus knows in Revelation 19:11-16 is the name Paul is talking about?
“Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and with justice he judges and makes war. His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on his head. He had a name written that no one knows except himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen. A sharp sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty. And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

    1. Linda says:

      Interesting thought!

    2. Jane K says:

I hadn’t remembered reading that before in Revelation, even though we just finished reading that book of the Bible. That’s an interesting thought, Kelly. “Faithful and True,” though, is another name of Jesus I had forgotten. I love remembering and praying out loud Jesus’s names.

      Yes, A-Men!!
We are here to glorify God! How often we forget that. We are so blessed and busy, and Me focused. My I surrender everyday my flesh, thoughts, wants, and will…..to look to the One that is worthy of it all.
I mentioned the other day I have started to pray on my knees at the end of the day before bed, praying out loud. Then I am focused on the why, the who, the One. He hears all of our prayers…but we need to bow more I believe. Confessing often. Loving wholly. And living Holy.
