Grace Day

Open Your Bible

2 Corinthians 4:6

Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

  10. Starr Schoppy says:

God knew I needed a GRACE day. I’m just going to be boldly honest and brave here, as I feel it’s a safe space. My 16 yr old daughter is due with my first grandgiggle, a baby boy, any day now. I’m so thankful for this blessing!! I feel the enemy has been attacking me lately, though. Worry, anxiety, fear – I KNOW God’s got this, He’s got us, but that enemy is sneaky. She’s just 1 of my 5 children. My 18 yr old just moved out, and I have 3 younger boys, ages 2, 5 & 8. We are a homeschooling family as well. My 2 yr old has been, well, beyond onry. I feel like the enemy is suffocating me in any way he can. Can I just have some prayers, please? We have a good support system, but I feel like I’m bugging people and dont want to be annoying to anyone. Thank you. God bless ♡

    1. Indiana Elaine says:

Praying right now, Starr. ❤️ You have a load on your plate being a mother, homeschooling, terrible two’s and pre grandma. May God give you wisdom and peace!

    5. Tina says:

Starr, praying.. For your heart to know peace, God’s peace, that surpasses ALL understanding, so, you hold fast to the One who is your source, Give Him those worries, the anxiety and the fear, and in turn He will lighten your load, and graciously give you the calm and peace you need.❤
      .

I really want to be His light to my neighbors this Christmas. We typically bring over a Christmas sweets plate, which I still hope to do, but I am praying for a more practical way to love them this year.

    1. Cynthia from Alabama says:

I have a suggestion for you. We moved into a townhome community a few years ago and we invited our neighbors over for a Christmas party where everyone brings an appetizer or dessert and to share. My husband reads Luke 2 and we have a playlist of Christmas carols playing.

This morning’s verse brought back a childhood memory. I was raised Roman Catholic and I can still “hear” the organ playing with a beautiful voice singing: “YOU are the light of the world, may Your light shine before man….that they may see the good that you do and give glory to God.” And I believe she went on singing the Beatitudes. Though I am no longer Catholic, I still have good memories, and it was through the renewal of the Catholic Church in the early 80’s when I asked JESUS into my heart. I am SO thankful for you all and can’t wait to meet you someday! Happy Saturday from a very chilling and foggy California morning!

  21. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

Last night I attended “Night of Wonder” with speakers Christine Cane, Lisa Harper & worship leader John Reddick. All these daily readings on hope remind me of the song he sang last night – You Keep Hope Alive…

    Days may be darkest
    But Your light is greater
You light our way, God, You light our way
When evil is rising, You’re rising higher
With power to save, with power to save
You keep hope alive, You keep hope alive
    From the beginning to end
    Your word never fails
You keep hope alive, because You are alive
    Jesus, You are alive
    Death had a stronghold
    But Your life was stronger
Rose from the grave, rose up from the grave
    Yeah
When evil is rising, You’re rising higher
With power to save, with power to save, ohh
You keep hope alive, You keep hope alive
    From the beginning to end
    Your word never fails
You keep hope alive, because You are alive
    Jesus, You are alive
    There’s hope in the morning
    Hope in the evening
    Hope because You’re living
    Hope because You’re breathing
    There’s hope in the breaking
Hope in the sorrow hope for this moment
    My hope for tomorrow
There’s hope in the morning (Hope)
There’s hope in the evening (Hope)
There’s hope because You’re living (Hope)
    There’s hope because You’re breathing
    (Hope)
There’s hope in the breaking (There’s hope)
There’s hope in the sorrow (There’s hope)
Hope for this moment (There’s hope)
My hope for tomorrow (There’s hope)
You keep hope alive, You keep hope alive
    From the beginning to end
    Your word never fails
Oh, You keep hope alive, You keep hope alive
    From the beginning to end
    Your word never fails
You keep hope alive, because You are alive
Jesus, You are alive, oh, yes, You are
You keep hope alive, You keep hope alive
    From the beginning to end
    Your word never fails
You keep hope alive, because You are alive
    Jesus, You are alive

  23. Rhonda J. says:

    GM!
There are few phrases that Christians know more than “be a light,” I mean who didn’t sing “hide it under a bushel- NO! I’m gonna let it shine!?”

Let our light shine! Seems so simple and easy, …then…the flesh! That evil flesh comes over and we aren’t always the simple epitome of being that shining light for Christ! Nor is the church. We hear scandals and fallen pastors, corrupt and causing hurt. I mean, half the Christians don’t want to go to church anymore! lol.

But God, luckily he sent an eternal light for us, in the face of Jesus, our Savior. So as Christians, not only living off his example, but we have to have the POWER of the Holy Spirit in us activated! It is not by our glowing personalities that we share Christ, albeit, I thought that was it for years, decades. I don’t believe I had the infilling of the Spirit. Many Christians don’t even realize it talks of two forms in Acts of when/how the Spirit comes. We are saved at the time of believing and have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. But there is a second infilling of the Spirit, that we walk by, and do all things through, rather than our flesh. I don’t understand it all perfectly to explain, but it gives us that special sauce…we can’t fathom how we alone do things, but through Him in US, it comes alive! So lets not try to be the light on our own, lets pray the Spirit reveals Jesus’ light in us. We can’t forget the third Person of the Trinity and hide the power, the same power that heals, raises from the dead…lives in us!! Lord, use us She’s to be your light, today, and always. May it not grow dim. You are the hope for the lost world, giving Mercy and Grace to those in the dark. Help us Lord become emboldened in the Spirit to walk in unison with you. We cannot do it on our own.

I discovered an old song by Elevation Worship this morning by looking for another song “Shine A Light!” The chorus-We’ve got a light and we’re gonna shine
Jesus let Your name be glorified
We’ve got a light and we’re gonna shine
Forever let Your name be glorified
We’ve got a light and we’re gonna shine
Jesus let Your name be glorified
We’ve got a light and we’re gonna shine
Forever let Your name be glorified

And of course one of my Christmas favs (I like the Lauren Daigle version)- “Light of the World.”

Praying for the requests, and praising with the praises! Have a great Wkd friends!

    1. Cee Gee says:

❤ Looking that song up, too!

  24. Tami says:

Good morning ladies. I have had the song “Here am I to worship” on repeat all week.
“Light of the world, you stepped down into darkness
Open my eyes let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore you
Hope of a light spent with you…
Humbly you came to the earth you created
All for love’s sake became poor
I’ll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross… call upon the name of the Lord and be saved”
I was inspired after listening to the podcast to not only be intentional about making room for Christ during this season but also for others who need the love of Christ. I mentioned the other day that I start my morning devo time now by lighting a candle and listening to this song. I pray first for my neighbors (the nations) to call upon the name of the Lord and be saved, and then extend out to my family and others. As I was praying, the Lord impressed the thought upon my heart that in order to be the light TO them, I have to be intentional about spending time WITH them. We live in a small beach community and our block ends at the beach so we are in the unique position of really seeing our neighbors all the time in the warmer months, not so much in the winter. Many of them do not have extended family and/or their kids have grown so they have become each other’s families, even celebrating holidays together. (Not one is a Christian) My husband and I are more on the fringes just because we have other family obligations so we get together with them less frequently. But we have decided to be more intentional about seeing them this winter season and are planning on hosting a winter gathering with all of them. As an introvert this is not the most comfortable thing for me but I feel the Lord is calling us to this. Have a happy Saturday ladies! Thank you Searching for the prayer list!

For those who prayed for my grandson and me, thank you! We have finally received all results from our biopsies. All were good! They believe my issues were caused by some medicine I had been taking. They will retest blood levels in 3 months to make sure my levels are staying down. My 11 year old grandson had surgery to remove a mass. The mass was non cancerous. Praise God! He also will be followed with sonograms and testing for the next few years. Again thank you for praying. I can’t tell you how many times I reread your prayers. God is good!

  32. A Walton says:

Someone was asking me for an update about the land/house. It has been incredibly slow, but we finally have a builder. A quantity surveyor friend talked to the builder for us and the builder agreed to come down in price about €5,000! This is great news as we will need to pay about €4,500 here soon to the county council for our land. If we had begun works this year, we wouldn’t have needed to pay it, but things moved so slow and we couldn’t get it started. Even now they won’t be able to begin until June. We should be in it in a year, Lord willing. Would still appreciate prayers. One of my sons was sad hearing the news yesterday as this 2 bed apartment is where he has always called home. Lots of memories here, brought all 5 of my babies home here, but I feel I have waited so long, I don’t have the exact same feelings as he does, plus he doesn’t have to deal with the frustrations with this apartment. Our heat was out for almost a week, they got someone to “fix” it, but I bet they didn’t really do anything as it just went out again last night. Storm battering right now as well with freezing winds. Brrrr! Glad our electricity is still on. Will be using space heaters I guess.

    1. Searching says:

Thank you, A WALTON, for the update and good to hear there’s progress albeit slow. Praying the building goes smoothly once started! No doubt the eventual move will be bittersweet for all as you leave the apartment for your home where new memories will be made. Praying for a better fix on your heat, encouraging extra care using the space heaters. ❤️

      1. Tina says:

Adding my voice to searching prayer and thoughts..
Where two or more are gathered.. Yes, even with an ocean between us.. He is with us..
        .
        Amen.❤

    2. Kelly (NEO) says:

    3. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

Thank you for the update A Walton, it was me who was asking. I added you to my prayer list for missionary families and will be praying for you and your family on a continuing, regular basis. ❤️

    4. Cheryl Blow says:

Praying for your heat to be fixed! And for your house!

    5. AZ Walker says:

What a gift of hope for you and your family. Your little boy is going to be so excited when you get all moved in and what a blessing that the kids are so content in the apartment. Reminds of the King and Country movie when the family first moved to a place in the US with no furniture and the boys loved playing ball in the house. ❤️ You have been waiting so long and are in my prayers.

    6. Cathy McVey says:

Oh wow! So glad there is progress. What a journey for all of you. Praying your heat is fixed soon. Just think, when you have a new home where everything works, it will be so wonderful. Praying for you and your family.

    7. Cee Gee says:

❤ We’re all ‘waiting’ with you and praying no more financial surprises or delays. Prayers, too, for your little one’s sadness, that it will turn to JOY in the new home. ❤

      1. Tina says:

        Amen.❤

    8. Adrienne says:
