Day 20

Grace Day

from the People of Remembrance reading plan

Isaiah 43:2

BY She Reads Truth

Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

“When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you,
and the rivers will not overwhelm you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be scorched,
and the flame will not burn you.”

Thank you for your prayer, Julia C – it is nice to be remembered by you Shes :) I actually was struggling a little bit this morning with that, actually, now that I recall. Thank you for thinking of me. ❤️

I have been having a hard time getting myself on here on the weekends. I usually spend time working on my current Scripture memory or doing another devotional. I probably won’t make it to communion, but I love the idea! I just participated in one on Wednesday with my church worship night. ❤️

    Happy Saturday she’s.
I want to share a thought provoking devotional I read today. I can’t say I understand what the author meant, but I am starting to.

    So here it is ..

WHAT DO YOU SEE IN YOUR CLOUDS?

    Behold, He cometh with clouds.
    Revelation 1:7

In the Bible clouds are always connected with God. Clouds are those sorrows or sufferings or providences, within or without our personal lives, which seem to dispute the rule of God. It is by those very clouds that the Spirit of God is teaching us how to walk by faith. If there were no clouds, we should have no faith. The clouds are but the dust of our Father’s feet. The clouds are a sign that He is there. What a revelation it is to know that sorrow and bereavement and suffering are the clouds that come along with God! God cannot come near without clouds, He does not come in clear shining.

It is not true to say that God wants to teach us something in our trials; through every cloud He brings, He wants us to unlearn something. His purpose in the cloud is to simplify our belief until our relationship to Him is exactly that of a child — God and my own soul, other people are shadows. Until other people become shadows, clouds and darkness will be mine every now and again. Is the relationship between myself and God getting simpler than ever it has been?

There is a connection between the strange providences of God and what we know of Him, and we have to learn to interpret the mysteries of life in the light of our knowledge of God. Unless we can look the darkest, blackest fact full in the face without damaging God’s character, we do not yet know Him.

“They feared as they entered the cloud.…” Is there anyone “save Jesus only” in your cloud? If so, it will get darker; you must get to the place where there is “no one any more save Jesus only.”

-by Oswald Chambers (my utmost for His highest).

May we not damage God’s character in the darkest and blackest of clouds.

    Thank you Julia C ❤️
Thank you ERB ❤️ for our first upcoming communion across time zones.

We got real bad snow fall today, perhaps 6 inches and counting. I am praying for safe travels.

    Be blessed dear sisters.❤️

JULIA C – what a beautiful prayer. Thank you for sharing it with us. May it be the prayer of my heart, as well.
TRACIE GENDRON – my heart hurts for the loss of your father in that fire. Fears can be so debilitating for us. They’re also understandable when traumas are involved. Thankfully, God knows each of those fears, and is walking with us through them. My prayer is that God will wrap you in His comfort each time you face a fear, and will bring peace to your heart.

I am lifting each prayer request as I read it, and know that God is working in each situation. Father, be with each SRT sister, meeting the needs in their lives and allowing them to feel not only Your amazing love and power, but the comfort from knowing many are lifting them in prayer to YOU. Amen.

My sister, Karen, is still in the hospital. She learned yesterday that she has ischemic colitis and three ulcers. Please pray she will be able to tolerate food, and can go home soon. Please pray for ongoing management and healing of her condition. Thank you so much for your prayers.

As I reflect on comments made and on the Book of truth, I find the various translations and interpretations do lead to differences between many churches in what they believe and how their members worship.

I’m not surprised as God created us all as unique individuals. Each of us has their part in the body of Christ. We cannot all be the head; there are many needs for the hands and feet as well. We are not meant to compete with others for sitting at Jesus’ right or left hand. We all have sinned and should not be casting stones thinking our sins don’t count. So with different tasks and different life experiences I can understand how people are drawn to different churches and different church programs.

With awareness that God works in mysterious ways, we should look at what these churches have in common and if they are leading people to God. I think the two big questions to answer are: do they love God and do they love others?

The lyrics of Peter Scholtes keep coming to mind:

We are one in the Spirit,
We are one in the Lord
And we pray that our unity
    will one day be restored
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
Yeah they’ll know we are Christians by our love

May our words and actions make it obvious to ALL that we are Christians by our love for God and others.
