Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.”
—Genesis 1:26

Genesis 1:26- it’s letting others have power and ruling over things that live on our amazing planet, earth.
Why does God say “let us make man in our image”….I’m thinking of the use or pronouns. Using “us/our” vs “me/my”
I always take the “made them in their image” passage to be a reference to the trinity. God made man in the image of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
I’m definitely with you on the mystery surrounding how so many people can put of Adam and Eve and where Seth found a wife! Lol I guess it’s a possibility that God made wives out of their sons’ bodies just as he did with Adam and Eve. And in that case it does make me think about soulmates, etc!
great question, I was wondering the same thing! I had unsubscribed for a while and now i’m back, but not loving the “shortness” of the devotion at all…
.
Praying that this will take root in my heart!
Amen!
I have always struggled with the beginning of mankind. If Adam and Eve were the first who was Cain so afraid was going to harm him after he killed Able? They would have been his brothers, sisters aunts etc. I know Adam lived for close to 1000 years but still…It also says God made man in their image. We’re Adam and Eve just a representative of all the people? Did God create others at the same time?
@AUDREN- happy wedding day!!! Wow, may God bless you and guide you in this new chapter.
Thank you for praying ladies! The gig went well. I was able to openly share my faith. It helped one of my Christian friends showed up and kept asking my mom and I questions about music and our lives between songs. I often shared what my songs were about, too.
There was one woman the Lord led me to pray with who was sitting there listening to us for almost an hour. God definitely blessed us!
Happy anniversary tomorrow @Lehua!!!
@Rhonda- yay, glad to know it well for you, too!! Thanks for being such a good cheerleader for my music!! I’m so thankful for you and all the other ladies who are so faithful to champion each other here.
I’m glad your chronic pain group is starting back up, too. I hope that it encourages you as you walk through your own pain. May God heal and shift your perspective in times of weakness.
@Cheryl!! Thanks for the add :) looking forward to knowing you more!!
<3
Happy Saturday she’s. I am so grateful and sometimes in disbelief that we are the crown of God’s creations, made in God’s image and likeness, with dominion over the whole earth and its creatures. Praise the Lord for this position of honor He bestows on us. Which reminds me of this verse, The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind (Psalm 115:16). Glory be to the One who gives grace abundantly and generously!
@AUDREN-congrats on your wedding day. How sweet that you checked in on this big date on SRT to share with us. God bless your heart and your union.
@RHONDA – you made me laugh. I hope your small group went well, I pray your nervousness will soon be of the past.
@HEIDI – praying for open doors and a lovely time in Europe. God is SOO good.
@LEHUA – honestly I don’t know what’s the trigger of the migraine. It’s very unusual for me. I am planning to get back to exercise or high sweat work out (which I dread) lol. Thank you for your prayers and helpful suggestions. Congrats on your coming anniversary and may you have the most fantastic birthday.
@ALL SHE’s- praying for you and your families. May God’s hand cover you and your loved ones to guard from all evil, and to lead you into paths of righteousness, to deliver you from all unnecessary burdens and tears. May He refresh your life, restore your soul, and give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is the Lord, the God of Israel, who call you by name. (Isaiah 45:3).
Be blessed dear sisters.
Can anyone tell me why the devotions are in a different format this study?
Thank you AZ
Lehua- good sentiment. Happy Anniversary! and Happy Happy Birthday!! They really do make you think over our lives and how we are spending our days as we get older!! I really decided a couple of years ago I wanted to use my time more wisely for the Lord! It is much more fulfilling to follow God’s direction! (But, we all are in different seasons of our lives, so no guilt to anyone!!)
Thank you ladies, it went great! Prayers matter. God want’s us to pray for each other and lift each other up! And of course he wants us to turn to him for every need! The Holy Spirit is our guide, our comforter, our strength and so much more!!
Audren- Congratulations!! I hope you have a beautiful, wonderful day!!
Michelle P How I wish I could come here you and your mother sing! You are such a talented “young” woman and God is leading you to be his light to others just like you are to us here on SRT!!
Sharon- hope your event went well!! :)
I would still love prayers please for my chronic pain, I am set to try a new-to-me treatment this week, 3 alternate days! It would be great to have something to give some relief. Our Chronic Pain small group starts back up on Tuesday mornings and I am praying God brings in anyone who could benefit from it to turn their eyes off their pain and to our Lord! By his stripes we are healed….let it be so!
Audren – Congratulations! I hope you have a beautiful day! ❤️
Michelle Patire and Rhonda J: Praying for your events, hope it went well this morning ❤️
Heidi: So glad that you and your family made it to Europe safely!
Mercy: Praying for your migraines. As someone who also has them occasionally, it’s not fun. What are your triggers? Have you seen a doctor for them?
Mari V: I hope you’re feeling better after the counselor visit yesterday. There’s a video someone shared with me the other week called “I Have a New Name” by Hosanna Wong. It really spoke to me. I encourage everyone to watch it.
Have a beautiful weekend sisters ❤️ I have two special days coming up – anniversary tomorrow (19 years!) and birthday on Tuesday… there’s a lot on my mind as I’ve been reflecting on my life so far. I’ve been praying for help with prioritizing, focusing on Jesus and having gratitude for my blessings, and the self-discipline to follow through on things and not let them pile up.
As I think about this verse, what struck me is that even before man existed, God spoke to Himself and said “let US make man in OUR image” (emphasis mine). He has always been relational. It really shows me how much He values relationships, especially since we are made in His image. How special this relationship can be when we choose to abide in God! ❤️❤️
Praying for everyone on this beautiful Saturday morning. I hope Rhonda J’s and Michelle Pattire’s events go well today! Rooting for you! Praying for those suffering with anxiety and depression and need rest. Praying for Cee Gee, Heidi, my daughter and all those traveling on big trips and weekend trips. Also praying for all of us and all Christians who follow God’s truth to shine and be bold but kind!
❤️
❤️
Lord, help me see all people as made in your image. We all need(ed) a Savior.
Michelle Patire I found you on Facebook, thank you for sharing. I love all the studies they continue to grow me. I don’t comment much.
Audren, congratulations and best wishes. Enjoy your beautiful day.❤️
Audren-congratulations! So happy for you! Praying for a wonderful day!
Rhonda- your sisters here are all standing in the gap for you today. So excited for this opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus today! Praying He uses you in an awesome and powerful way!
Shabbat shalom my sisters!
Just wanted to put here that today is my wedding day:) it is a good reminder that I need to see my fiancé and every other human as who God has made them to be, not what I perceive of them.
On the pod this week, I believe I understood Dr. Glahn to say this could also read as “make man as our image” meaning to represent God. A higher call to represent Him well.
Oh man. My comment never posted yesterday. It was “awaiting moderation” but I guess it was denied. Stinks. I don’t remember all I wrote. I was happy to see @Heidi’s testimony encouraging @Theresa and her husband’s situation. Praying for you both!
I also remember writing to @Rhonda J saying that often our nervousness leads to more dependence on God, so it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe it is good to know your weakness with what God calls you to do, Rhonda. That way His Holy Spirit is that more evident. I pray He does grow your confidence.
My mom and I are playing a coffee shop gig this morning. Those of you who follow me on social media have seen that, probably. Our heart is for people to hear Jesus in our music and minister to their hearts.
My car is also doing things so my dependence on Jesus is evident, too!! Blessings to you all!!
Made in the image of God…Father God, please equip me today to be Your image-bearer.
@Rhonda – prayers for your morning study!
Happy Saturday, sisters!
Have a blessed weekend!
Let us make man in OUR image – never realized the use of the word OUR. Just proof of the trinity long before and proof God
Amen
RHONDA – I want you to know I’m praying for you and your small group this morning. Praying that God gives you the words to say and abundantly blesses your time together.
Amen
Reflecting today on being made in God’s image. It’s something I typically gloss over in scripture but what a powerful truth. Every person on earth is made in the image of God. May I keep that knowledge front of mind in my interactions.
Good Morning She’s!
I am so sick to my stomach this morning, in wait for my small group start! lol. I don’t know why I get so nervous when I love talking and being an extrovert, yet I get Moses stuttery when I have to “stand up” to talk! Why did I sign up then? Faith. Following God’s prompting! Which by the way, there has been A LOT this past few years of leaving my comfort zone to serve and share Jesus! But it is also a love and desire! I decided I wanted to live boldly in my faith and sped time that makes a difference for Him, rather than casually going through life with only Sunday showing my desire for God! I know today will be lots of fun, and for his Glory, I’m just ready for me to get past the nerves!!! My verse has been….”The Lord will accomplish my concerns…” (That’s all I memorized..lol).
I am made in His image. ❤️
Made in the image of God – Lord, please guide me to live like I represent You.
TRACI GENDRON – I have wondered what He is thinking as well. I’m shocked and heartbroken by the world these days.
Looking forward to the day when I will reflect the true image of God and not one mared and stained with sin.
@ HEIDI, I hope you open SRT on Grace Day. If you DO make it to ROME, I recommend ask about the Mamertine (Mamertinum) Prison!! Many Romans don’t realise they pass it every day but, it is believed both Sts. Paul and Peter were held there!!
