Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.
But he was pierced because of our rebellion,
crushed because of our iniquities;
punishment for our peace was on him,
and we are healed by his wounds.
—Isaiah 53:5

Thank you Jesus! You paid the price for me to live. You are my King and my Savior! There’s Victory in Jesus!
Thank you, Jesus, for healing us by bearing wounds –
Amen
Holy Spirit guide me in this day to do the will of the Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen
This morning the phrase “punishment for our peace” jumped out at me. So often, I reduce the concept of peace to just a feeling. I think of peace as being the absence of anxiety and worry. A feeling of calm and relaxation where I can breathe deeply and rest knowing that I’m secure. What God spoke to me today though is that while all of that is true, the peace that Jesus brings is so much more. Peace is the opposite of war and without what Jesus did for us on the cross, we would remain at war with God; falling short of His holy standards and unable to approach His throne. We would cycle through times of opposition with God, when our sins were many and our hearts hardened, and times of repentance, where we were following God once again. The punishment that Jesus endured in our place, in my place, put an end to that cycle and created a permanent path of peace between humanity and God. Now we can boldly approach His throne in repentance. We can call on His name knowing God is not at war against us, we have a permanent peace treaty established by Jesus.
Have a wonderful Saturday, sisters!
