Grace Day

Open Your Bible

Isaiah 56:5

Take this day to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

“I will give them, in my house and within my walls,
a memorial and a name
better than sons and daughters.
I will give each of them an everlasting name
that will never be cut off.”

He opens His arms to all of the broken and hurting (all of us), and He says you are welcome at my table, you are welcome in my family.

What wondrous love is this, O my soul!

Oh, but Tina, reading it in context is even more mind blowing!

    56:1-8
This is what the Lord says:
Preserve justice and do what is right, for my salvation is coming soon, and my righteousness will be revealed.

2 Happy is the person who does this, the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.

3 No foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord should say, “The Lord will exclude me from his people,” and the eunuch should not say, “Look, I am a dried-up tree.”

4 For the Lord says this: “For the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, and choose what pleases me, and hold firmly to my covenant,

5 I will give them, in my house and within my walls, a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters. I will give each of them an everlasting name that will never be cut off.

6 As for the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to become his servants—all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold firmly to my covenant—

7 I will bring them to my holy mountain and let them rejoice in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be acceptable on my altar, for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

8 This is the declaration of the Lord God,who gathers the dispersed of Israel:
“I will gather to them still others besides those already gathered.”

All those outside of the covenant, the marginalized and oppressed, the “unworthy” are gathered with God’s covenant people.

Thanks be to God, our merciful and faithful Redeemer!

When I read this verse and the verses preceeding it, I thought how beautiful they were. God welcomes the foreigners, he gives special recognition to those who have been prevented from having children, he takes the shunned and brings them to himself.

  8. Tina says:

    SERIOUSLY!!

Say what? Tell me again! Read it to me again! Say what???

“I will give them, in my house and within my walls,
    a memorial and a name
    better than sons and daughters.
I will give each of them an everlasting name
that will never be cut off.”

This verse has so absolutely made my day..
You know in a world where you are known as so and so’S mother, auntie granny, friend, daughter, the job you do ..(and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that) and your given birth name is sometimes forgotten, what a beautiful verse and reminder that ACTUALLY, to the Maker of the universe, He didn’t just create you/me in love and hope, and then left us to be, He gave us a home, a place where who we are, to Him doesn’t change, no matter who, what, where we travel, and a name that is beyond the descriptive names we acquire in our lives. Ohhhhh,

    But God…

And if that wasn’t enough.. this is an eternal, not just gor Christmas, forever and ever name, that will always lead us home, and to Him…❤

    Thank you God. Thank you..

All praise and Glory to Him..

    Amen..

Happy weekend wrapped in love, hugs and prayers, sisters…❤
