Grace Day

Open Your Bible

Hebrews 4:15–16

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

This verse is such a good reminder to me to not run from but to run to God when I have sinned. I know Christ resisted every temptation while on earth, but it is easy for me to forget that He faced every temptation also. With that confidence, I know I can go to God whenever I sin without shame because Christ went before me, He knows how I feel, and He gave the ultimate sacrifice so I will be forgiven. This gives me hope and peace.

Day two of the flu and in need of a grace day. Time slows down and prayers speed up. This is a time of need and so I go to the throne of grace for myself and others. How comforting to know He understands and intervenes on our behalf. He knows all our weaknesses yet does not respond with condemnation. He responds with sympathy for He has been where we are. This grace day is a good day to rest in Him. Just rest. I can do that today.

Can anyone tell me where to find the prayers Rachel read on the podcast from the Book of Common prayer?

I was looking, too! It’s in the show notes from the last podcast episode.

Oh, how I need God’s mercy and grace.

So grateful that I can approach the throne of grace with boldness and for the promise of mercy and grace to help in times of need.

This verse gives me hope. Not only do we serve a God who has been through all the human stuff, but proves it is possible to do so without sinning. It says He was tempted which meant it affected Him, but He still didn’t fall which means I can, too.

Today, I needed the reminder He is relatable. We can find comfort in Him. This attribute of God is one that fades away from my memory. I am either thinking ‘He is Holy’ or I am not thinking of Him at all. Thankful for a day to mediate on his comfort!

One of favorite verses. Just to think because of God’s grace we are able to come to him with confidence knowing He will be there to help us in our time of need.
