Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading. Each Saturday, we will read a section from God’s response to Job in chapter 38.
“Can you fasten the chains of the Pleiades
or loosen the belt of Orion?
Can you bring out the constellations in their season
and lead the Bear and her cubs?
Do you know the laws of heaven?
Can you impose its authority on earth?
Can you command the clouds
so that a flood of water covers you?
Can you send out lightning bolts, and they go?
Do they report to you: ‘Here we are’?”

I am new back to She Reads Truth. I feel very uncomfortable asking this but I wondered if you could please pray for me… I have gone through a season of walking away from God as I got sucked into meditation/yoga/spirituality through my struggles with anxiety. These methods were suggested to me as ways to cope but it ended up leading me into new age spirituality and away from God. It caused a lot of confusion for me. Anyways, I am repenting from all of this but could use prayer to be strong and not be swayed by deceptive teaching. I am really ashamed by how I got sucked in to all of this. Thanks

Welcome back Elizabeth. You’re going to love it here. Please do not be ashamed. We are all here walking this journey together. I personally have grown so much from the studies here at She Reads Truth And the wisdom of these wonderful ladies here as well.
Elizabeth, i pray that the power and sheer awesomeness of Christ gives you strength to remain faithful always. I too had been sucked into that rabbit hole , and for me it developed a horrible sense of “pride”. God wiped that pride right off my face 2 1/2 years ago and it has been both the worst, and the best thing to happen to me.
Stay strong in your faith in God. Prayers lifted for you!
I have a niece who is currently deceived by these same practices. Bless the Lord that you see them for what they are, praying my niece will too. Rest is His sovereignty, you may have walked away, but He didn’t.
I empathize with you Elizabeth the deception is sutle and looks so good on the surface but as I’m sure you have found out it dethrones our Loving Father in our hearts. God is forever faithful to us. When my faith turns to wandering it helps me to reflect on His Faithfulness to encourage my faithfulness to Him
Do not be ashamed, that is from Satan. Rejoice in the God who leaves the 99 to go get the 1. You are that ONE! He loves you so much. We all get sucked into this world, but we don’t have to stay there! God’s Love is great and I praise Him for you homecoming!

Praying for you dear girl! Oh how he loves you!! Satan will try to make accusations against you to bring shame. Don’t listen to that liar! You belong to Jesus- even when you looked elsewhere. Psalm37: 7-8. I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love,
because you have seen my affliction;
you have known the distress of my soul,
and you have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy;
you have set my feet in a broad place.
You are loved by Jesus. Every day.

God is God and I am not…for that I am VERY thankful. I too was a bit weary beginning this study of Job and knowing all that was o come…but I wasn’t taking into account the meaning devotions and insightful words that would be shared by all of you dear SRT sisters. Thank you all for your continued commitment to this Bible study. Please know that your comments and sharing personal triumphs and tragedies are a comfort to me.
As I read these last chapters of Job I was reminded of this quote:
“…it is not the task of Christianity to provide easy answers to every question but to make us progressively aware of a mystery. God is not so much the object of our knowledge as the cause of our wonder.” Kallistos Ware
I love theology – learning and gaining knowledge about God and His Word, and doctrine, what the Greek and Hebrew say – all of that head knowledge. But, these last chapters of Job has reminded me that if my desire for head knowledge overwhelms my heart knowledge I will lose what is most important in my relationship with God intimacy and wonder. I pray that He will always be the cause of my wonder and not just the object of my desire.
I love how Chris Tomlin puts God’s words to Job to music in his song, “Indescribable”. You are amazing, God!
“Who has told every lightning bolt where it must go or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow? None can fathom.” The words and melody of the song Indescribable remind me of the magnitude and majesty of God. This song with these words from Job will be stuck in my head all day and hopefully every day to remind me of the God I love, worship, and serve.
I can do none of these grand things and I can name countless more mundane things I can’t do either. But nothing is impossible for our God. God can restore the loss of family and fortune as He did with Job. God can heal broken relationships and broken bodies. God can make dreams realities and He can make light shine in the darkest valley. There are so many things I cannot do but I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Because He says so.
Philippians 4:13 is my running mantra. But these past two years it has become my LIFE VERSE. Thank you Churchmouse For all your wonderful wisdom and kind words. When you come to mind I pray for you. I appreciate you.
And DO IT in our lives, LORD!

God is great. The Job story is all about God, his sovereignty and might. I’m learning to pay attention to nature and appreciate it more. Because all creation points to Him and it should tell me something
