Grace Day

Open Your Bible

Hosea 1:10

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Yet the number of the Israelites
will be like the sand of the sea,
which cannot be measured or counted.
And in the place where they were told:
You are not my people,
they will be called: Sons of the living God.
-Hosea 1:10

I took from this that you are always a child of God, no matter what worldly place you aren’t accepted. Also, that its okay to not be accepted because you can always find acceptance and favor in the lord. Be faithful to him.

I am sitting here absolutely overwhelmed by God’s grace. He is so good to me – every minute and every day. Zach Williams sings a song called “So Good to Me.” The chorus says, “How perfect are your ways. How endless is your grace. Forever I will sing your praise. You are, you are so good to me.” I will be singing this song all day.
    Have a blessed weekend.

I *think* it is about the remnant of Israel. How often Israel is almost destroyed in the OT, but God allows there to be a small portion of Israel who survives. Now, rather than not being God’s people, they are His people and called His children.

Hi ladies, I’m a little confused by this passage. Would someone care to elaborate it for me?

    1. Kathy says:

Tierra, I think that this verse is a reminder to Hosea and to us that God will keep His promises. The nation of Israel was a mess. They had forsaken the worship of the One True God and were worshipping idols. Because of that, they were suffering the consequences of their choices. God had scattered them and they were no longer a nation. This verse is a reminder of the truth that God is merciful, gracious, and loving. He does not enjoy punishing His children, but He will do whatever it takes to rescue us.
I hope this helps a little bit. Have a blessed weekend.

        Kathy,

When I have no name, no place in the world, I will be called Daughter of the Living God.

This verse reminds me I am not one of a few but one of many. When my faith seems under attack I feel alone but that could not be further than the truth. Believers are everywhere! Just because I can not count them… is exactly the point! There are sincere faithful Christians all across this globe seeking to serve the One True God as best they can in their circumstances. Today I commit to praying for the church universal. May she be strong and mighty and ever faithful! Stand firm, sisters and brothers. We are His army.

Dearest ladies, it is easy for me to read this verse and just skip over it thinking it is no big deal but I couldn’t be further from the truth. This verse gets to my heart and proves me wrong. The reason this verse is so important too me is because it gives us our identity. We, who belong to the one true God, are His. We are made new in Him. If Jesus says that I belong to Him, then no matter how loud the lies or failures in my life, nothing can keep me from knowing and believing that I am His. There is such comfort and a sense of identity and belonging in this verse, especially for anyone like me who grew up in a family of divorce with issues of wanting acceptance and love. It can be so hard to comprehend that God does still love me today and tomorrow and the day after that. His love has no limits. I need to be often reminded that I am His when I am so easy tempted to believe the lie “Just wait, soon the other shoe is going to drop and God won’t love you anymore- will it be one more sin, one more screw up, or one more failure that pushes God away?”. But that isn’t God, that’s satan, and boy does he love to kick us around. But I know who my God is and who I belong to. Thank God for His constant care and atoning love. My heart is full of gratitude! Praise and glory to God our Father!

    1. LT says:

Amen, Jennifer! Thank you for this reminder..His love never fails!

I needed these words at this very moment. Thank you Jennifer. I have struggled this last year with how God can still love me in the midst of the turmoil we are in as a family. Satan is brutally attacking the love God has for me by breaking my heart to the point of almost putting me into a fetal position to take my eyes of the One true LOVE of my life. God always reminds me that He will never leave me, but there are days I feel like He changed His mind because of my own lack of trust. Today is one of those days. God knew what I would need to read today in your comment. I love that He works that way.

        1. Jennifer says:

Dearest Jo, sister in Christ, you are loved. Dont give up fighting. You are dearly loved. God is faithful. I believe only He will gather you in His loving arms and heal all your broken pieces. There are days here on earth when we think we can’t take anymore or how can our hearts break into even smaller pieces…. God is faithful. I dont understand our trials but God doesn’t leave us alone. You are not abandoned. You are precious and dearly loved.

          1. Jo says:

            Thank you sweet Jennifer!!!

My background is like yours and I’ve often believed the lies. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the subject.

All week I’ve been humming the old song, “His Name Is Wonderful”. I especially love the phrase, ‘He’s the great Shepherd, the Rock of all ages, almighty God is He. Bow down before Him, love and adore him’.
So many words to describe our Lord.
