I’ve always read this story as a story about forgiveness unto others. But today it struck me as a story about repenting. Every time I wander away from God, I feel scared to come back. Like I can’t possibly ask for forgiveness AGAIN. Like he’s probably so tired of hearing me time after time. But how quickly does the father welcome the son home? Not because he has to, but because it gives him JOY that his son is back with him. What a great God we serve.

We all feel like that. Thank God He isn’t human and he is long suffering (not ever-suffering) but he never changes!

I think this Study challenges us to interpret the Bible for ourselves. Despite our severe limitations the Holy Spirit will show us what we need for each day! Be encouraged!

The father does not spare one second. He immediately opens his arms with love to welcome his wayward son. No conditions, guilt or shame are placed on him. The son does not have to jump through hoops or pass a test, he just has to come home. Lord, help me to have that kind of grace for for others, just as you do for me.

My plan was to get up early to a quiet house and do my quiet time before everyone gets up. I dosed off between coughing all night and fell into a deep sleep AFTER hitting the snooze button. The LORD knows I needed rest and sleep. Got my hot mocha ready and wouldn’t you know I spilled the entire thing on my moms carpet!! She said ” that’s ok mija (what she calls me) the LORD blessed me with this home and I’m so glad you have this place to stay . Yes I too am grateful for Grace day as well. And I’m so grateful for my mom whom is a great example of someone who LOVES JESUS!

Grateful for Grace Day. It’s been a busy few days and it feels good to be able to sit quietly and ponder this past week’s parables. Thank you SRT for including such a day. Pondering and praying.

I just read today in another study that I am currently doing, that “we’ve lost the art of treasuring and pondering”. We are so hurried with the pressures of life and now with the holiday season upon us, it can get even crazier, that our treasuring and pondering can get totally forgotten. I too am grateful for grace day, to slow down, breath and treasure the quiet and ponder what God is trying to teach me through these parables. Thank you SRT, for making grace day a part of the schedule. Sometimes we need rest scheduled.

I’m thinking of a family, well-established, many members and one son is lost and the grief has been real. This moment is a spark of long-awaited joy. The household is lit up. The father has called this a party day in honor of his son and the choice he has made to come home. Everything is set in motion at the father’s command. This precious opportunity to rejoice will not be wasted. This is joyous living at its finest; a family restored.
