Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40:1-31, Isaiah 41:1-29, 2 Corinthians 1:3-7
Over the past six months or so, I have faced significant discouragement and uncertainty. At times I felt like a little kid lost in the grocery store, wandering up and down each aisle searching for my mom. The image found in Isaiah 40:11 of God as a gentle shepherd, protecting and leading His sheep, has had a profound impact on me as I’ve felt so lost.
In chapters 40 and 41, the prophet Isaiah painted a picture of God as a faithful and comforting God. Not only was He with them in their time of exile, but He promised to also bring them out of it. Isaiah described in great detail all the ways in which the Israelites sinned and turned away from God. But in chapter 40, Isaiah reminded them of the comfort of the God they served. He said that Israel’s time of hard service was over and that her iniquity had been pardoned (Isaiah 40:2). God instructed Isaiah to speak tenderly to the Israelites. His voice was no longer condemning but comforting.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray. But in our wilderness wanderings, the God of all comfort and compassion has promised to gather us in His arms and lead us down the right path. Isaiah 40:11 says that God “gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them in the fold of his garment.” When God picks up His people and brings us back home to Him, He does not hold us at arms’ length. Carrying us in the fold of His garment implies a deeper, more intimate relationship. Just as a shepherd knows His sheep (John 10:14–15), God knows His people and desires for them to be close to Him. His promise to lead us gently reminds us that we can trust Him completely, even when the path ahead seems treacherous and unclear. Only when we fully surrender to the comfort and guidance of the Shepherd can we take hold of the promise that He will guide us.
Despite the hardships and uncertainties the Israelites faced, God comforted them with hope, reminding them that in His faithfulness He had a plan to redeem them from all their wrongdoing and bring them back into right relationship with Him. God’s comfort is not just a feeling to lean into during times of fear or uncertainty. His comfort is a reality grounded in the truth of who He is—our faithful, sovereign provider.

We have a kind and wonderful God! Not only is He there to comfort us when the going gets tough, but He gives us wings to soar! I had a job interview today that I don’t know the outcome of yet, but I do know that it’s God breathed and in His hands. His generosity of getting me the interview and holding my hand through it – what an amazing God. To Him be the glory!
Sisters, in case you missed my reply to Kelly – I emailed SRT early this morning that Day 26 had not posted to SRT website or app so hopefully the glitch will be resolved soon. As others have noted, the devo and scriptures are available on the HRT website. ❤
Thanks for sending the email, sistet! ❤
Thank you Searching!
Thank you!
Hello Shes
I have the study book. I have the scripture readings.
But I see how MUCH I miss the devotional & community conversation for inspiration & incentive. Maybe I am addicted. Wayward, superficial & performative.
Pity the Pharisee in me!
Leaning into the “inflections”.
Not the teachings.
Much to muse on today without those “handles”.
Same!
The Christian path is best undertaken in fellowship! As long as you’re taking the Lord’s
Word in, there’s nothing wrong with wanting some community and encouragement alongside!
Read over in He Reads Truth! Very good!
Just want you to know I’m praying for all and for blessings over you and your families!
We have hope even when we are struggling to feel hopeful. Our hope is no based on how we feel but it is God who we can always count on!
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Thanks for posting Day 26 scriptures, mine are missing as well….thought I did something wrong in the app and accidentally removed myself from the reading plan ;)
Jen why is it missing?
No idea. I’m guessing a glitch in the app but the website didn’t have it either. I have the reading guide so that’s how I knew the verses.
Praying for you Jenna. May God lead and guide you heal any wounds and bring abundant life to your home.
Is anyone else missing day 26 for Friday? The reading is chapter 42, 43 and 44:1-23 if that helps anyone.

I love that God leads with justice and comfort.
Thank you for pointing this out! I felt the same but didn’t think about the context. So many of these verses I’ve heard all my life but they certainly pack a greater punch reading everything in order.
I know most of us here can testify that our GOD, our JESUS brings about comfort at just-the-right-time! Right when we need it! A reminder! Assurance! Comfort! Our JESUS letting us know HE has us! I am again moved to tears! Literally. First I am praying for Ellen our writer today. Praying that whatever discouragement and uncertainties she’s facing will resolve for her. But, trust me it caught me attention! Isaiah 41:13 stood out SO much to me this morning (stay with me), “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, DO NOT FEAR; I WILL help you” THEN read in 2 Corinthians 1:6 “If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation” And as Ellen mentions today (paraphrasing) same God who comforted the Israelites back then is the same God today. Love that last line. “His comfort is a reality grounded in the truth of who He is-our faithful, sovereign provider” AMEN! I’ve mentioned earlier this week that I was going back to the courthouse to fill our paperwork in attempts to revisit the court order as some of things that the Ex was suppose to do, hasn’t. Its SO scary even walking up those steps. Today I go back and find out if I go back to court or not. This morning, knowing I was going back to find out, my stomach is in knots, I’m shaking, crying. As I started this devo this morning, I was crying and telling my Jesus, I don’t want to do this! AND then read His WORD and the above scriptures that stood out to me this morning as a reminder, my JESUS goes with me and IS with me. I go at noon today. On a HAPPY note to end, yesterday was my birthday, and felt so celebrated by friends and family especially the two, I love most in this world, Caleb and Alyssa! They made it EXTRA special and sweet! They were also VERY generous if there gifts as I know they were well-thought-out! God is good!
We love you and so glad you had a wonderful and special birthday!! We celebrate you as well!!
Mari – I feel for you. After being married 48 years I left my husband 3 years ago. It had been a hard marriage but I was committed to staying in it. Then he did something and it was like the Lord said, “I release you.” I have lived between my 2 daughters for the first year and for the last 2 years I have lived with 90 year old mother of a friend who lives out of town. It has been a miraculous provision for both of us. BUT each time a court date comes up I am exactly how you described yourself today. My bold prayer is that we can settle this without going to trial which is set for July 10. Isaiah 41 has a few “court” references that really spoke to me today. Praying for you that you don’t have to go back to court again. I pray you know God is with you, holding your right hand.
Happy birthday to you Mari. Thankful you had a great day with your people.. praying continued blessing over you dear heart..
Much love ❤️
Happy belated birthday dear Mari. May the joy and comfort of God be with you, and many wonderful blessings be poured out.
Happy belated birthday Mari!
Such a blessing to hear how God used the scripture and devotional to comfort and prepare you for task yesterday.
Happy belated Birthday, Mari! May the encouragement and strength of the Lord fill you.
My goodness- I don’t see my comment! Did it not get posted again!? The devil really doesn’t like me yesterday and today!
Oh no…..dislike greatly when that happens. Maybe go back and rewrite?
Oh no. Write on an ms word first Rhonda and then paste over. This has happened to me so often and i had enough with it.
Yeah, my husband gave me the knowing look when I gasped loudly in frustrating yesterday….like…I’ve told you to write, then copy and paste!
oh haha… bombastic side eye. What did you write? I am wondering now!!!
Yes..I GOT to remember that word! Bombastic!!
Wiersbe said that the book of Isaiah interestingly is like a miniature Bible. That it has 66 chapters, and the Bible has 66 books. And that the first 39 chapters of Isaiah can be compared with the first 39 books of the Old Testament with God’s judgement of sin. The 27 chapters of the second part may seem to parallel with the 27 books of the NT and emphasize the Grace of God. Today’s scripture opens with John the Baptist’s ministry and at the end of Isaiah the new heavens and earth, and points to Jesus in between which is what we see in the NT! He goes on, but it’s amazing how everything overlaps and proves itself to be true.
I loved that it talks about in 2 Corinthians how at our affliction and trials we our comforted by our Father so in turn we can comfort others that go through what we have!! It’s amazing how God uses our stories to be able to share to help someone else!! We have to keep our eyes open to see, and be led by the Spirit! But, oh, how it blessed them and us.
❤️
❤️❤️❤️
In response to your comment that shows after Mercy I wish I could post the mind blown emoji. Wow that is so interesting.
Oh Rhonda, feeling your distress..
But God…❤️
♥️
HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY MARI V!
I’ve always loved chapter 40 of Isaiah! The nations are nothing in comparison with God. “Nations are like a drop in the bucket; or fine dust (speck of dust) on the scales” (v.15). “All nations are as nothing before him” (v. 17). “[The Earth’s] inhabitants are like grasshoppers” (v. 22).
Verse 12: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand
or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand?
Who has gathered the dust of the earth in a measure or weighed the mountains on a balance and the hills on the scales?”
God.
Only God is able to measure our oceans and seas in the palm of his hand and the heavens, or the universe with the span (tip of thumb to tip of pinky) of his hand. There are so many stars and galaxies in the sky (I think this is one of the reasons why I enjoy the night sky so much) and God is not only able to mark them with the span of His hand, but he also named all of the billions of stars (v. 26). Maybe not in the complete literal sense, but still, he created them, just as he created this entire world and holds it all in his hands.
Then the chapter ends with the famous verses from 28-31:
“Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth.
He never becomes faint or weary;
there is no limit to his understanding.
29 He gives strength to the faint
and strengthens the powerless.
30 Youths may become faint and weary, and young men stumble and fall,
31 but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint.”
I just love this chapter so much! This chapter fires me up every time, getting me excited for Heaven and the day when I get to see God face to face.
We see some more of this language in chapter 41 as well, about the nations being like dust. But yet also an encouragement to Israel that out of all the nations God chose Israel. ” I brought you from the ends of the earth and called you from its farthest corners. I said to you: You are my servant; I have chosen you; I haven’t rejected you.
10 Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand” (vs. 9-10).
I find verse 10 a great verse to cling to. We don’t need to fear because God is with us. This big God who holds the universe in the span of His hand, and the waters in the palm of his hand is with US, helps us, and holds onto us! He can give us strength, peace, comfort, love, joy…..and the rest of the fruit of the Spirit.
Then, in case there are still any doubts the rest of chapter 41 goes on to tell us even more of what God is capable of doing.
This song, “Behold your God” that comes from Isaiah 40 came to mind as I was reading.
Yes!!! Amen and Amen!! Fires me up too!! OUR God is absolutely, overwhelmingly–AMAZING!!
❤️
Aw….thank you!!!
You’re welcome. I hope you were able to have a wonderful day in the midst of the craziness.
You are not alone Blessed Mama, in the excitement of one day being in His presence.. oh stop these feet from dancing…❤️
❤️
He is our comfort!! Thank you everyone for your prayers! Feeling a lot better today! Praying the rest of this sickness is gone fully soon! My fiancé and I are both in full time ministry and we plan on leading our families in worship (many of whom don’t believe) at our wedding on Friday! No matter what we will still give Him all the glory! The Lord is sovereign and our protector!
How exciting, Lauren!!! Prayers for physical health and strength to be the ministers to your family as you desire. May God bless your most unselfish act; you are definitely NOT a bridezilla! ☺❤❤❤
Have a beautiful and BLESSED wedding!! How exciting! And that you both are in ministry…I know you will be used in mighty ways!!
Praying Lauren for a full recovery, and congrats on your coming wedding. How beautiful that you want to use this occasion to lead family members to the Lord.
Oh Lauren what joy! I think the joy of a marriage couldn’t dampen the excitement you must feel in your heart. Hoping you absolutely feel better for tomorrow and that the love and joy of the Lord you feel will for sure felt by your family members.
Happy wedding day!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m writing this on Friday – your wedding day. May it be blessed with all the joy and happiness you’ve always dreamed this day will hold.
I loved the ot reading, so comforting that He does not change
What a great devo and Bible reading plan! So much to chew on.
.
Jesus carries His flock in the folds of His garment- that reminded me of a mom carrying her baby in the swaddling band strapped to her chest. Such a beautiful image!
.
I take comfort in reading of the power of God and how He called out the idols. May I be as successful in recognizing worthless idols and calling them out.
.
Snippets from NKJV Wiersbe Study Bible
God is greater than anything on earth. Creation shows His wisdom, power, and immensity. He is greater than the nations and their gods. He founded the earth and sits on the throne of heaven, and nothing is equal to our God, let alone greater than our God. The next time you are tempted to think that the world is bigger than God, remember the “drop in the bucket” (v. 15) and the “grasshoppers” (v. 22; see Num. 13:33).
…God is greater than anything in heaven. …
God is greater than the circumstances within us…
This is the song that came to mind as I read. I haven’t heard it in quite a while:
Our God by Chris Tomlin
Water You turned into wine, opened the eyes of the blind
there’s no one like You, none like You!
Into the darkness You shine, out of the ashes we rise
there’s no one like You, none like You!
Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God, You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God! Our God!…
And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?
And if our God is with us, then what could stand against?
And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?
And if our God is with us, then what could stand against?
Then what could stand against?
Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God, You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God! Our God!
.
Love, hugs, and prayers, sisters! ❤
Now off to read your comments! ☺

He is our comfort, our hope, our Shepherd, our guide, Provider; He is all we need; He is everything!
❤ amen!
You know how scripture says there a season for everything? There’s a season for blessings, too! But I have to admit, I’m not always comfortable in that season. I don’t feel I deserve a season of blessing, or that somehow now I’ll have to pay for it in someway or another. It’s hard for me to accept blessings without thinking that I now owe someone something. Maybe because often times in my life good things were given to me with conditions attached. I really want to receive God’s blessings without fear or discomfort. I want to truly understand that simply because of His love, I receive blessings. So enjoy.
I also struggle to remove this blockage in my mindset. Like you said, I tend to think nothing is free and I will be expected to pay back (from upbringing and poverty mindset). May God help us.
Before when I’d read passages from Isaiah, I would usually read these chapters filled with God’s comfort and hope. I usually shied away from the chapters we’ve read previously filled with discipline and destruction. But this time around, having read them in order and seeing the full scope and purpose of the book of Isaiah, I felt a sense of deep comfort and peace reading the verses today that I never felt when I read them before. Before they just felt nice, but now that I understand what the Israelites had experienced because of their sin, and now being met with God’s unfailing love, grace, and comfort as He pardoned their sin, it gives me a deeper understating of God’s character, and also thankfulness that He has pardoned my own sin.
Very well said, Maddie! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. ❤ I realized that is pretty much my experience and didn’t think of it before reading your comment. ☺
Yes, well said Maddie- I agree!! What is light when we haven’t seen the dark? What is freedom when we haven’t experienced bondage!! It makes the phrases I love so much, that much impactful…mourning to dancing, graves to gardens, ashes to beauty!! Thank you Jesus for the valleys and the mountains. We may not like the storms, but there is always victory in YOU Jesus!!
Thank you for pointing this out! I felt the same but didn’t think about the context. So many of these verses I’ve heard all my life but they certainly pack a greater punch reading everything in order.
“God’s comfort is not just a feeling to lean into during times of fear or uncertainty. His comfort is a reality grounded in the truth of who He is—our faithful, sovereign provider.”
Amen. What a beautiful word today following these beautiful passages from God’s Word. So much, rich truth of the character of who God is in these chapters abd He does not change or fade. He, and who He is, is forever.
‘The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God remains forever.’
He is strength, power, ruler, forever, comforter, lifted up, glory, good news, protects, carries, leads, provider, counsels, directs, knowledge, justice, enthroned, everlasting, trust, helper, Redeemer, shepherd, worthy…..
I’m sure I’ve missed some, but this is our God. Thank you, Father that you are all things❤️
Yes, Amen!
Amen and amen, Wendy! ❤

Praising God this morning that He is my redeemer – the Holy One of Israel. He is always with me, He is there to strengthen me, help me and uphold me – but the key is, me allowing Him to be my help. There have been to many times in my life that I’ve tried to do it on my own and have struggled greatly, if only I had just leaned into Him and let Him carry me – it would have been so much more bearable.
—
Thank you Father for always being ready to gather me in Your arms and carry me close to Your heart.

The hymn Leaning On The Everlasting Arms comes to mind…
What a fellowship, what a joy divine
Leaning on the everlasting arms
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine
Leaning on the everlasting arms
Leaning, leaning
Safe and secure from all alarms
Leaning, leaning
Leaning on the everlasting arms
What have I to dread? What have I to fear?
Leaning on the everlasting arms
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near
Leaning on the everlasting arms

Have a blessed Thursday sweet She’s.❤️

Today’s devotion was so timely. Sisters, if I could ask for prayer, it would be for a deeper sense of connection. Like the devotional described, I’ve been in a bit of a wilderness season for the past couple of months—not unhappy and without any major struggles, but feeling a bit distant. It’s like tuning into a radio station and catching the signal, but with some interference. Maybe this is just a season, but my heart longs to draw closer to God. That’s why I’m continuing to seek Him, knowing that true peace is only found in Him. Thank you, sisters.
Praying for you this morning Maria, that you will draw near to Him and feel His presence and peace surrounding you.❤️
I understand what you’re feeling Maria. Praying over you right now.
He is right there with you, Maria! He still loves you and wants to comfort you. Praying for a breakthrough real soon. I know that feeling and am honored to pray for you! ❤
I understand too Maria. I was just talking to a friend about this today – and now your comment! I feel numb – I’m reading, learning, trying to pray, but God feels distant.
“Father of mercies…”. Thank you for that today, Jesus.
I pray we may be open and trusting to God’s tender love and care for us.

This morning I sit here not only in awe of the God of comfort from our scriptures today, but humbled by His relentless pursuit of me these last many months that led to the peace only He gave me three weeks ago when I found out about my lesion. I know there were so many times of not understanding what He was doing and my desire for earning and striving kicking in, but I can testify that He was there all along. Fellow Shes in the midst of your storm I hope you know you are not alone. I’m praying for you and the Shepherd has gathered you in His bosom.
Yes, Danielle B
Please be gathered up…preserved, protected, provided for…

God’s got all the “this & that” that disturb us.
He handles IT!
Praise His Holy Name.
I can absolutely attest to these verses.. it is only through Him that i have been able..
.
He helps us in all our troubles, so that we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles, using the same help that we ourselves have received from God. Just as we have a share in Christ’s many sufferings, so also through Christ we share in God’s great help.
.
My youngest son, Charlie’s friend, Jack died in His sleep when they were at secondary school, 18 months after Julee died. My pain was as raw as the first day, but I also knew I had to go and comfort Jack’s mum, or at least, be with her in silence..
The first time I sat outside her house unable to get out of the car let alone, go to the front door. I wept!
The following day, I prayed God would give me the strength to go and hold Jack mums hand.
I got to the front door, I knocked, she opened the door and I just hugged her for the longest of times. Said nothing, except that I would be back the next day..
Thst was all I could manage..
It was enough.
I had made contact. I had let her know, without words that I was there for her should she need anything.. or someone to talk to.
.
The song ‘I didn’t know my own strength keeps playing in my mind.. BUT let’s face it.. it absolutely was not in my own strength that I got out of my car that second day..
.
BUT GOD..
2 Corinthians 12:9 says ..
.
But his answer was: “My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ’s power over me.
.
I so love these words, because, that has not been the only journey of seeking Father God’s strength in situations where I was not able or equipped to deal..
The LORD God has been faithful, so many times, in so many ways, and whilst I hold onto Him, not just in those times, His comforting arms and strength is all I need..
All praise and glory to Him who gives us what we need as and when..

Thanks be to God…
.
I’d like to end with the fist part of the 2 Corinthians verse..
.
Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father, the God from whom all help comes!
.
A double AMEN to that!
.
Happy Thursday my dears, Be blessed knowing you are NEVER alone.. The God who loves us more than we can ever imagine is closer than we know..
Much love, Tina ❤️
Amen, Tina. No doubt your presence was more comforting than any words, as it spoke the silent message of love.
Love to you, sister ❤️

When my daughter was stillborn many years ago, the most meaningful condolences were from those who had experienced the same thing. It was so comforting to know someone truly understood my pain. I’m sure the mother you reached out to felt the same. Bless you, Tina.
Thank you for sharing these tender thoughts ❤️
“Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father, the God from whom all help comes!” Yes and Amen!
