I decided to pick one of the Rid Your Self of things to focus on this week. I am picking anger. I seem to have a lot of anger towards certain situations these days…so hopefully these thoughts will be tamed starting today! :)

Studying this passage was an eye opening, grand experience in my journey of studying the bible. I got a dictionary out and defined those words that I thought I knew: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, love. It's so easy to assume you know what these mean, which makes it easier for you to assume you are using them in your life. Yet after a little research you quickly realize you don't know the meaning of those words and they aren't present in your life. And lucky for us, the bible and god are there to show us how and remind us that we need to. Awesome. Also, after researching love, I came to the definition of affection: 1. fond or tender feeling 2. a disease (ha!).

So if you're studying this passage I highly recommend hitting up the good ol' fashioned dictionary.

Hey ladies (Kacia, Maggie, Jessi, and Raechel)
I was wondering if i could get someone's thoughts on a question I have been sort of wrestling with. (anyone else can chime in too:))
I was always taught not to use curse words/swearing. But I have noticed in the online christian blogging community that several bloggers use this language quite often and even warn their readers that they will come across the use of this language on a regular basis.
Today's verse for this reading plan clearly states to put away earthly nature and that included 'filthy language'
I just struggle with Christians using this language as if it is okay.
Now, I know we are not perfect and I can't say i never ever swear because I have/I do. But I think there is a difference between losing your temper or something of that nature and using this language as if it is uplifting or encouraging language.
I have tried to be descriptive because I am hoping you can hear my heart here.
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated!
    Thank you
