Moses’s parents placed their faith in the unchanging character and power of God, believing in Him in the middle of the evil that surrounded them. By faith, we remember that we are valued and beloved by God and can trust His character and good plan for us even in the brokenness of this world.

What aspects of God’s character stood out to you, challenged you, or encouraged you from today’s reading?

  1. Jenna Livingston says:

    If Moses’s parents hadn’t been less by faith how could this have changed what happened to his people? Faithful parents open so many doors for their children to be used by God!

  2. Naomi Erhardt says:

    I can’t imagine having to give up my baby… But God used Moses to free his people!!! What an incredible full circle story.

  3. Claire Rouse says:

    He is consistent!

  4. Latoddra Mason says:

    Amen

  5. Patsy Coghlan says:

    God always keeps His promises!

  6. Indyia Ford says:

    What stood out to me was God telling us that as long as we believe and have faith in him, we shall be blessed

  7. Kat says:

    What stood out to me today is God’s protection. Psalm 118:8-9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

  8. Amy EB says:

    Sometimes I have trouble processing circumstances where it seems like God lets bad things happen to good people. He had a covenant with the Israelites through Abraham but he still let them be enslaved by the Egyptians. But what stood out to me in this reading was His faithfulness. They were still His people. He saw their suffering and he had a plan to lead them out of that situation. God was faithful to His people, and some of them, including Moses’ parents were faithful to Him. Because His mother had faith that her little baby would be ok, she helped set in motion the events that would free her people.

    To stand on Bible and God

  10. Jackie Tuckerman says:

    Especially during this crazy Election Day, I chose to not be afraid and trust the One true King. The faith of Moses parents are a good reminder of Who we really serve.

    1. Adrienne Butler says:

      Exactly what I was thinking. people fear the party elected. Uhh they not the one I fear. As for me and my house, we will serve GOD!!

  11. Sarah Martin says:

    God is faithful and kind even in the hardships of life. Oh how he loves us!

  12. Linda in NC says:

    Thank you ladies for kind birthday greetings. We had a quiet day and then went to dinner with our son and dil.
    God is Sovereign over all even our election. That’s sometimes difficult to remember when we are anxious for the future of our country. Father, in the days ahead, show us your mercy and grace no matter the election results. Bring peace to our families, nation, and world through Your Son Jesus. Amen

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Amen, Linda! ❤ Great to hear you had a good birthday and family to celebrate it with you! Love and prayers!

  13. Natasha R says:

    Moses was saved and cared for by women who feared the Lord more than they feared men – the midwives, his mother, his sister (perhaps even the Pharaoh’s daughter?). This fear of the Lord gave them the courage to defy earthly authority and do what is right. May I follow in the footsteps of these women.

  14. Erin S says:

    What stood out to me:

    1. Protector: God ensures that Moses is hidden and eventually rescued. God watches over and protects his people, even in dangerous situations.
    2. Soverign and All-Knowing: God is in control, God’s plans can’t be stopped by human actions.
    3. Compassionate and Caring: God values human life and stands by those who honor him.
    4. Faithful: God Remembers his promises and remains faithful to his people.

    1. Karen Bruno says:

      Thanks Erin,
      These characteristics of God are a good reminder for us in any circumstance.

  15. Jennifer Anapol says:

    I love that God protects us and knows intimate details about us. We are seen and loved by him. I pray that I would rest in that love today. I pray that I would rest knowing that God is in control of the election results, and he is the one who is still in complete control, no matter who wins.

  16. Michelle Feneide says:

    ❤️

  17. Kimberly Z says:

    I appreciate all the insight about tomorrow relating to today’s readings. Like many I am anxious for the outcome. Praying for all parties involved that we can just move forward peacefully.

    1. Kris says:

      Me too!! (about the peaceful moving forward). I’m truly praying for BOTH candidates and their families to have protection and safety!!

  18. Linda G says:

    Definitely His faithfulness

  19. Hannah Mousaw says:

    In this season I babysit once a week for a little girl whose family I met through church. Although I don’t have children of my own yet, this experience has taught me so much about a parent’s love for their children. I can only imagine Moses’ mom’s love for his son, and the faith it took to entrust him to God’s care. I am also reminded this morning of God’s love for us— the kind of fatherly love that cares so deeply that he knows even the amount of hair on our heads. Although the world is not good, God is good and cares for his children. This is so comforting today.

    1. Cathy McVey says:

      Amen Hannah! ❤️

  20. Indiana Elaine says:

    Ladies, let’s offer up tomorrow as a day of praise. God inhabits the praises of His people. Praise for God’s protection over our country, for His Sovereignty, for His goodness, for salvation, for His Love and that He will never leave us or forsake us. So thankful for founding fathers who put their faith in God. They knew that none of us could be trusted with autonomous power. That’s why they created three separate but equal branches of government, each holding the other in check. This system can produce gridlock and a 50–50 political divide, it also ensures that all are represented and none can have an unfair monopoly over others. The songs “Goodness of God”. “Gratitude”, “10,000 Reasons”, “Shine Jesus Shine”, “Open Up the Heavens” and so many more to give God praise. The battle is the Lord’s. Only He can change the hearts of people.

    1. Kris says:

      I love the call to Praise! In 2 Chronicles 20 God called for the worshipers to go out ahead of the army, and when they did this, the enemies defeated themselves!! There is so much power in praise!!!

    2. Kat D says:

      If only. The people called for a king to rule over them and God gave them what they asked for.
      .
      Not all were good kings. But God is faithful even though His people were not.

  21. Mary Ann says:

    The faith of Moses’ mother, to hide him for three months, and then make a basket for him and send him to an unknown journey. She didn’t know how Moses would be saved, but she took action and did her part, and let God do the rest.

    This spoke to me so personally today! My youngest daughter has been dealing with GI issues the past two years. With the time change we just had here in the states it has really messed up the timing of her medications. She woke up this morning with a huge rash and need for steroids. But reading about Moses’ mother and her step in faith reminded me how I too, take action (build a basket) with my kids and in mothering. But ultimately God is the one who can redeem those hard moments and circumstances. He calls me to take action, but also rest in Him and His goodness.

    If I can ask for prayers for my youngest. That she remain strong and courageous, may she grow in her relationship with God and that this rash heals swiftly. Thank you!

    1. Cathy McVey says:

      Praying for your daughter Mary Ann.❤️

      1. A Walton says:

        Praying for her.

  22. Kris says:

    As many of you have said, the mid-wives were incredible people!! They went against the rulers of that day, and did what was right in God’s eyes instead. What courage!!! I fear putting a candidate sign in my front yard for fear of someone not liking it and doing something to my house. But look at these women… who truly risked their lives to do right. Father, give me courage to stand up for what’s right in Your eyes, no matter what the consequences.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      Yes, I know that feeling Kris! It’s crazy, and sad, that we have come to that- to be fearful for promoting what we favor! Let alone if it lines up with your faith, it shouldn’t be a surprise, yet still!! I want to be strong and courageous…but can I?! I even fear putting on here, as not to offend or divide..that is even crazier!?

    2. Cathy McVey says:

      I know exactly what you mean. For the first time I put a sign in my yard. For many days I fully expected to have it taken or damaged, but neither has happened. Courage is hard for me too but we have to stand up to what we know is right. I have always loved this story about the midwives. Their courage and God’s faithfulness to protect them. Father help me be courageous even when it’s not easy.

  23. Maria Baer says:

    Psalm 118 is where my mind is, on the eve of what can potentially be a momentous election. This psalm is a powerful reminder on the eve of an election that God’s presence and authority are constant and unchanging. That regardless of the outcome, God is the ultimate foundation, the only one who truly matters.

    1. Indiana Elaine says:

      I so agree and sometimes psalm 118:8 is considered the middle verse in the Bible and so appropriate for today: “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.”
      ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  24. Cee Gee says:

    Like some of you sisters mentioned, I thought of the weaving of the basket and the trust and pondering going on there. Reminded me of Mary as she pondered things in her heart.❤
    .
    Being honest here: the characteristic of God that challenged me today in this read and in many other circumstances is SOVEREIGNTY.
    God could have (in His sovereignty) changed the heart of the new king thereby removing the threat to the Hebrews. However, God (in His Sovereignty) made a situation where the trust and faith of the Hebrew people became witnesses for Him. When things happen that we question-just don’t understand- we have to remember that God has a plan for all people to come to a saving knowledge of Him. Sometimes the trials of the faithful are the witnesses that speak to those hearts. As the Roman soldier said at the foot of the cross,
    “Surely He was the Son of God.” In His Sovereignty, God chose to secure our salvation through a way that we struggle to comprehend, but we TRUST Him with our whole hearts even as we humble ourselves to His Sovereignty – under God! That’s an important reminder with our election in the US tomorrow and the following days of certification of votes, etc. Thank you, sisters, from afar for praying for our nation! I heard this song over the weekend. While it was written with America in mind, the words are true for all believers in any nation. Under God by The Booth Brothers – partial lyrics:

    Under God, Freedom has survived
    Under God, we need to recognize
    We’re dependent on His goodness
    Indebted to His care
    Maybe more than any people anytime or anywhere
    Still our only hope and prayer is Under God
    When we pledge allegiance now, it’s Under God …

    Under God, America’s been blessed
    Under God, brought through every trial and test
    We are sheltered by the mercy He chose to give
    In privilege and abundance, this nation lives…Under God.
    .
    Love you all and am blessed by your sharing! ❤

    1. Sophie M says:

      Thank you for sharing Cee Gee!!! Beautifully said

      1. Cee Gee says:

        ❤ thanks for that encouragement, Sophie! ❤

    2. Tami says:

      “Sometimes the trials of the faithful are the witnesses that speak to those hearts.”
      That really spoke to me. Thank you.

      1. Cee Gee says:

        ❤ Thanks, Tami, for sharing that! ❤

      2. Laura says:

        Me too! I wrote that quote down to remember it when trials come my way. So powerful!

        1. Cee Gee says:

          ❤ Thank you, Laura! Y’all bless my heart! Love you all! ❤

  25. Stacey B says:

    Good morning, I would love prayer for healing from chronic illness and flare up this morning.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤ Prayers for comfort and decrease in this flare up, Stacey! Hugs and love! ❤

    2. Cathy McVey says:

      Prayers sent up for you Stacey.❤️

  26. Rhonda J. says:

    Oh, I erased my whole long comment! Hmm, maybe God said it would step on too many toes…or MAYBE it was the devil! lol. But what stands out clearly to me is CONVICTION.

    Conviction is not just what we believe, BUT HOW strongly we believe it. What we would do to adhere to it. Will we obey God when we HAVE to choose?

    These women put their faith into action when leaders told them something else. How can we not compare that to what is going on today in our own world? Just because it hasn’t come to you yet, it might. Think of all the ones in scripture that stood on truth, and protected others that were going to be killed, maybe even themselves. I think of Daniel, and the 3 boys that were convicted. Ester was convicted to save her people. Moses’ mother was convicted, and the midwives as well to stand with the values of our Lord. Are you convicted? Am I? Do I stand for babies in the womb? Do I stand for Israel when she is being attacked? Do I stand for kids in America that are being blinded and taught against God’s word? Do I stand against the very thought that men can be women? How have we gotten here? The greatest nation built on trusting God.The U.S is not mentioned in end times. And Revelation tells us men will be lovers of themselves, prideful, what is right is wrong, and what is wrong is right. SO I am not fearful or anxious, I am grateful that WE are awake and aware!! So thankful we have the great Hall of Faith to read and know it’s okay. We are protected, we are loved, we will be saved from the pits of Hell. God has covered us in the blood.
    Thank you Jesus, I am overwhelmed by that truth. But we still have to put our warrior boots on, and sharpen our armor! Have our lamps lit, ready for our groom to come! Awake in the garden with Jesus, on watch and in prayer!! Standing in long lines to use our right to vote. Don’t sit on the fence, don’t be idle. Put your faith in action!

    Missing Mercy, Erb, Taylor, and others. Are you with us? And you know who popped in my head the other day…Sarah H! And I miss Churchmouse and JenniferlovesJesus, Chris, and some others! Oh how I love this community. We are important to each other-encouraging and strengthening, sharpening, loving…and most importantly praying for one another.

    “So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
    I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

    “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤❤❤

    2. Indiana Elaine says:

      Amen!!!❤️❤️❤️

    3. Kristy says:

      My same thoughts this morning. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in nobles!

    4. Cathy McVey says:

      So much truth here Rhonda!! Thank you for sharing this.❤️

    5. Laura says:

      I stand with TRUTH and will be bold: through my vote, through my speech, through my actions and through prayer. God is all powerful and will win in the end, but He calls us to join us in this fight and I will be strong and courageous in Him!

  27. Susan B says:

    On the eve of election day I want to suggest the Revive Our Hearts podcast. Today and tomorrow are prayers by different people for our country and the election.
    Father, our times are in Your hands. You know the beginning and the end. However this election turns out, we know that You are in control. We ask for Your peace and to stand boldly for Your truth. Let us all be shining lights in the midst of darkness for Your glory. In the mighty Name of Jesus, Amen

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      Yes, amen! Thank you, I will look for that!! I went to a “call for prayer for our nation” in our little small community yesterday. It’s always disappointing that not many people show up. But it was beautiful, knowing we can still come together and pray to God to save us! We know there will only be a remnant, but that can be pretty large when we think of the millions of people there are!

    2. Kris says:

      My small church is praying and fasting today for the election. Such an important time in our world… we were called for such a time as this. To believe and have faith in our GOD to keep us and reign in our lives.

  28. Barb D says:

    Ladies, such Spirit-filled and inspiring insights you all share today. ❤️ God bless your week!

  29. Mari V says:

    Happy Monday sweeties! I almost overslept! Read the the verses and jumped right in here.. I don’t have time, but just want to say I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!

    1. Victoria E says:

      Love you too Mari V!

    2. Cee Gee says:

      Love you back, Mari!!! ❤

  30. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

    Praying for our nation and for tomorrow’s election. Whatever the outcome – Do not fear. God is in control, no matter who is in office – He is on the throne!

  31. Cheryl Blow says:

    The faithfulness of God for the Hebrew midwives! They trusted God and he blessed them for it. They had families!

    Moses family putting their baby in a little basket. I looked up what lives in the Nile, crocodile and hippopotamus to name a few. They had great faith not only for protection from Pharaoh but also for protection from what lived in the Nile.
    I always struggle with “worst case scenario.” If I had been in their shoes, I would have been struggling with putting him in the basket!
    BUT God, because of their faith, had a plan and He needed a child who would become a man that God could use! I try to always remember this when I teach my 2&3’s at church! Which one will become a missionary, preacher, teacher, or mighty warrior for God?

    Sorry I went on and on! Love you all, praying for all! We are blessed!

  32. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

    What stood out to me today about God’s character? God rewards the faithful.

    Exodus 1:17-20 ~ The midwives feared God and obeyed Him rather than the king of Egypt. Because they feared God, He was kind to them and gave them families of their own.

    Exodus 2:8-10 ~ Moses mother was rewarded by her son’s life being spared and by being able to raise him in her own home, until he was older.

    Psalm 31:19 ~ God greatly stores up goodness for those who fear Him.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    In this world, things may not always go well, there is heartache, sorrow, loss. But one thing is sure – God rewards those who are faithful. Those who keep believing, keep trusting, and keep obeying. We may or may not see the reward in our life time like the midwives and Mose’s mother did – but we will see it, if not here, in heaven. Don’t lose heart. Praise be to the Lord for he shows his wonderful love to us!! (Psalm 31:21)
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    @Linda in NC – Happy 81st birthday!! God bless you!!… I am so sorry to hear that the procedure could not be done. Continued prayers for you and Gene while you wait.
    @Kelly Neo – praise that the training of the new employees is going well!
    @all my sisters – praying for all your requests!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Have a blessed Monday!
  33. Lauren Hayner says:
    The faith of Moses’s mother hits me harder than ever now that I have a child. Do I really believe that God loves my children more than I do and will take better care of them than I can?
    1. Brenda P says:
      I had never thought about it this way….
  34. Maria Baer says:
    Write a short prayer about the eve of this elecrion
  35. Adrianne says:
    What aspects of God’s character stood out to you, challenged you, or encouraged you from today’s reading?
    What stood out to me was the part of our reading today that I hadn’t caught before. That God had rewarded the midwives who did not kill the firstborn male Israelites as directed to by pharaoh. That always encourages me; the characters who seem slightly innocuous in the story, but are actually real hero’s. These women saved a lot of children and were rewarded by our Lord.
    I wasn’t challenged by God’s character in this passage at all. I was challenged by my own brain not realizing a pretty important couple of people who only got a couple of lines in today’s reading but were significant to saving whole linages of people.
  36. Michelle P says:
    Real love is sacrificing yourself, putting yourself on the line, for the life of another. We see that in the midwives and in the parents/sister of Moses. As someone who hasn’t had kids of my own (yet! lol), I know I don’t fully comprehend the love a parent has for their children. My heart is curious how enormous and deep it is, to love someone who is your own…
    But like the midwives, I can imagine putting myself on the line for the life of a newborn boy. These stories shows the infinite value of human life. Every life is valuable to Jesus. That’s why He paid the price with His own life, for each one of us!!!
    Their sacrifice of their own lives for these children displays the gospel to us ❤️
    Happy Monday, ladies. Love you all. ❤️
    1. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:
      Amen! ❤️
  37. Amanda Biamonte says:
    God honors good character
  38. Wendy B says:
    God is who He says He is. He does what He says He will do. He is our provider and makes a way when there is no way. The faith, trust, courage and obedience Moses’ mother and the midwives displayed and carried out is really something else. In going against the ruler and rules of the day they risked so much and yet, they did so. What an example and encouragement they are and what a mighty God we serve.
    I am in Canada, but we are watching and praying for all that is going on with the election. May the Lord’s peace fill your hearts as you await the outcome. Our Lord God is on the throne ❤️
    1. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:
      Thank you for your prayers for our election…and for God’s peace to fill our hearts!…It’s all in His hands.
    2. Indiana Elaine says:
      ❤️
    3. Cathy McVey says:
      Thank you Wendy for praying for our election. God is in control, we know that but sometimes it’s hard to keep that in mind. We definitely need God’s peace to fill our hearts.❤️
      1. Pat Plopper says:
        ❤️
  39. Holly Stokes says:
    God is steadfast. His faithfulness. His WORD. All we must do is choose to believe. But don’t just say that you believe, LIVE like you believe, and ACT like you believe. Moses’ parents had faith that God would spare his life, and they acted on that faith. So powerful!
  40. AZ Walker says:
    The courage, righteousness and faithfulness of Moses’ parents and the midwives saving all the newborn baby boys encourages me. Max Lucado has a good podcast today about staying united as Christians and with our families and friends as we go thru the election. Praying for our nation, kindness and love in our communities and your requests.
    1. Indiana Elaine says:
      ❤️
  41. Tanya Evans says:
    God keeps his promises! In Genesis 15:13: ” Then the Lord said to Abram,Know this for certain:your offspring will be resident aliens for four hundred years in a land that does not belong to them and will be enslaved and oppressed…In the fourth generation they will return here…”
    400 years.Moses was born! Moses was going to be God’s agent of deliverance. He was born in a time where there was a death edict for Hebrew babies. He was a type and shadow of the Messiah who was to come to deliver his people from the bandage of sin. When Jesus was born there was also a death edict for Hebrew boys. The enemy can Never stop God’s plan.
    1. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:
      “The enemy can Never stop God’s plan.” True that! Yes and Amen! ❤️
    2. Laura says:
      This is what I prayed this morning as I was thinking about the election and feeling anxious. The enemy can NEVER stop God’s plan.
    3. Cathy McVey says:
      Amen!!❤️
  42. Carol J Mylin says:
    Today I am thankful for answered prayer, and also have another request. Several times we have prayed for our prodigal family… Scott and Deb, who have turned from their faith… (still say they believe, but aren’t showing much fruit). Have been praying for a chance to “listen to their journey”, as I’ve prayed I’ve also been impressed to show them God’s Love… we’ve been (not always patiently waiting) for an opportunity to ask them to share, and on a quick trip to OH for granddaughter’s play, the appropriate time happened! They also expressed how much they sense our love and their love for us, before( and after) the conversation. Nothing has changed, but it feels good to have “the elephant out from under the rug”! We assured them that we love them.
    The prayer request for them to know Jesus intimately, hasn’t changed. In addition, Deb, who had a double mastectomy following chemo for early stage invasive/agressive cancer(actually two different places and types in one breast)., is on Tamoxifen, and experiencing pain in her back… could definitely be a side effect… trying not to be terrified for her! Please join me in prayer for this dear family!
    Thank you sweet sister-friends!
    1. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:
      Carol I am so happy for you that the conversation happened, and privileged to be a part of it through prayer! Praise God for opening the door, that we have prayed for!! Continued prayers for Scott and for Deb, especially for her health. ❤️
    2. Victoria E says:
      Carol praying for Deb!
  43. Karen Y says:
    Thank you to all of the She’s who posted regarding the fear and worry of Election Day and the after effects. You have reminded us of where our heart posture needs to be and given us truths to focus our thoughts on. God’s got this.
  44. Carly Lewis says:
    As our country is on the doorstep of an election, let us remember that the One True King is the one in control, and he will reign despite what earthly leaders are in positions of power. Join me in praying for our nation this week— so many people do not know the peace of Christ that passes all understanding, and many will be facing huge fears and insecurities. May we love them, and may we have the opportunity to speak peace to them.
    1. Lauren Ruhe says:
      Amen to this, Carly.
    2. Jeanette Armbrust says:
      Amen! I too was grateful for this message on the eve of election day!
    3. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:
      Yes and Amen! ❤️
  45. Danielle B says:
    As many commented already, the acts of the midwives caught my attention. I’ve known this story most of my life, but missed them in their faithfulness. It makes me think how had God shown up to them that they responded in faith to Him?
    I so appreciate your comments this morning.
  46. R says:
    As any Mama I worry about my children,but today’s readings
    remind me that God loves them more than I
    ever could! My daughters are grown now ensconsed in careers and families of their own and despite my worries they are walking with the Lord and He has been faithful! The faith of Moses’s mother challenges me to remember that God has my children ever before Him and I can trust His word that declares ” great will be my children’s peace!
  47. Amy Butcher says:
    This hit me today, and was a good reminder of God’s faithfulness. Frankly, I’ve been feeling stressed and upset by this election season, and it’s hard not to get disheartened by all of the division and brokenness I see. Regardless of who becomes our presidential leader, it’s encouraging to me to remember that God is faithful and God cares. God doesn’t abandon us.
  48. Donna Simmons says:
    I am amazed at the mid wives courage to trust in God over man. Like ps 32:20 God protects and conceals from human schemes
  49. Nikki Smith says:
    I so often think of fear is a paralysis or stopping of action—but fear in God is a call into action. When we believe in God, we are called to action and called to live out our faith by loving God and loving others.
    1. Laurel W says:
      Nikki—great point!
    2. Kris says:
      LOVE THIS!
  50. Jody Striker says:
    Gods faithfulness stuck out to me too. I was also impressed by how these God fearing women, the midwives and Moses’ mom, refused to obey the evil decrees of their day. May God give us the strength and courage to be as strong, standing for righteousness, today.
    1. Laura says:
      Yes and amen! We need to be strong and courageous in the Lord to stand for truth!
  51. Sara Gedde says:
    Loved the reminders of worthiness. Needed it!
  52. Sarah Carmona says:
    I think I just realized for the first time that Moses’ father was a Levite and his mother was a Levite woman. The priests were chosen from Levite males! Is it possible that Moses’ father was a Levitical priest? The tribe of Levi was held in special regard to the Lord. The LORD was their inheritance and I think it’s sweet to see that connection between the tribe and Moses.
    1. Michelle P says:
      It was through Moses the priesthood of Levites were established in Exodus 28! Though we do know priests existed in Genesis prior(Melchizedek)– it was not specifically the Levites who held this office, though.
      1. Michelle P says:
        Maybe I misunderstood your comment, lol. But all I know is God established it through Moses- pretty cool!
  53. Sheryl says:
    I am encouraged by these scriptures today because they remind me that in all the uncertainties we face we can trust God completely! We just need to follow Him and be obedient to His ways and He will take care of us according to His plan
    1. Cheryl Read says:
      Amen Sheryl! Our hope is built on Him!
  54. Ariadne T says:
    Gosh blessed the Egyptian midwives because they didn’t kill the male children. God will bless us because of our obedience to Him.
  55. Jerrica Terry says:
    Faith over fear
  56. Laura says:
    The story of Moses makes me think of Abraham’s story, when he was obeying God by preparing to sacrifice his son but God had already put into motion the wandering Ram to be at the right spot at the right moment. And as Moses’ mother is preparing the basket to place her son in the river, God is already going before her and preparing the king’s daughter to draw him out of the river. There is so much in life that does not make sense to us, but trusting God’s character and His goodness should help us to continue to obey Him even when things don’t make sense or there seems like no solution in sight.
    A quote from our pastor yesterday, “Where you worry the most is where you trust God the least.” I can get very anxious when I think about the state of our country, the brokenness of my family, the hardships of my friends. But these OT stories recounting the faithfulness of God and how He is working even when we can’t see it YET encourages my heart and reminds me of who He is!
    1. Tami says:
      Laura, I love the connection you made with Abraham and the ram already being prepared. So true! This causes us to remember that even in the midst of our struggles, God is Making a way.
  57. Aimee D-R says:
    Gods Word and Promises are truth, yes and Amen.
  58. Cat-tee says:
    Amen — please Wow me Lord, you are mighty! Continuing to pray for you and yours Aleida ❤️
  59. Tami says:
    Only 19 comments and already I’m inspired by you all! What stood out to me was Psalm 118:8-9 it is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust humanity. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in nobles. What a word the day before Election Day! Our pastor gave a great sermon on this yesterday. As Christians, we are called to be united, not divided, no matter where we stand politically. We are to cast our vote, but not cast our hope on the outcome. Jesus is on the throne amen!
    1. Cat-tee says:
      Amen!!
    2. Karen Elizabeth says:
      This is exactly what I came to post! Psalm 118 is applicable for election eve day.
    3. Sheryl says:
      Yes!! And Amen!!
    4. Carly Lewis says:
      Amen! That’s exactly what I thought of when I read these passages today, too.
    5. Indiana Elaine says:
      Amen!! Middle chapter, middle verse of the Bible for a reason!!
  60. Erica Chiarelli says:
    God is our help! We can’t do this alone, we need His strength, His help, His hope to make it through and not be shaken. We have a faithful God!
  61. Vicki M says:
    I have always loved that image of being in the shelter of God’s presence. Psalm 61:4 “I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings”.
    As I get older I find myself looking back, (which is unlike me!), remembering difficulties, challenges, disappointments, loss and what I see, what God shows me was His presence and protection over me. I may not have seen it then as I clung onto Him often more in desperation than in total trust. And yet, God honoured that feeble clinging, that showed Him a little kernel of trust which He generously heard as my recognition of Him as the Only One who redeems, restores and saves. He has indeed been my shelter; kind, generous, good. My helper who has sustained me and blessed me.
    Moses’ mother couldn’t know the outcome of hiding her beloved son. But what she did know was that God was more powerful than the king of Egypt and could be trusted. The midwives feared God more than the king and He blessed them for their trust and their actions. Their only refuge, their only help in that dreadful time was God. Moses’ parents decided to hide Moses in the shelter of God’s presence through their faith and trust in Him.
    My prayer for all of us is that in all our circumstances we would always trust and find blessings in the shelter of his wings. Amen
    1. Tami says:
      Vicki I understand the “clinging” in desperation. That’s usually where I am when going through circumstances. I’d like to get to the total trust part.
    2. Kimberly Reed says:
      I loved reading this! ♥️
    3. Donna Wolcott says:
      Thank you Vicki, for your comments at the beginning, I can definitely identify with those feelings and wonderings.
      Sisters,praying blessings on each of you for what ever is on your hearts or minds.
    4. Tina says:
      Amen, Vicki M, Amen.❤️❤️
  62. Searching says:
    God will make a way, when there seems to be no way … the song by Don Moen runs through my mind this morning:
    God will make a way
    Where there seems to be no way
    He works in ways we cannot see
    He will make a way for me
    .
    He will be my guide
    Hold me closely to His side
    With love and strength for each new day
    He will make a way
    He will make a way
    .
    By a roadway in the wilderness
    He’ll lead me
    Rivers in the desert will I see
    Heaven and earth will fade
    But His Word will still remain
    He will do something new today
    From the strength of the children of Israel to do whatever work they were told, to the faith of the midwives (love their clever reply, lively women), to the faith of Moses’ mother (no children of my own – but with any I have helped care for, I wouldn’t let them out of my sight), God was there. My heart breaks for any of the Hebrew women who feared Pharoah more than their God and did follow Pharaoh’s command (although Moses’ mother did too, in her own way she ‘cast’ him into the river, well protected to save his life).
    The verses from Luke – I could have nearly quoted vs 6-7 about the sparrows but it was 4-5 that got my attention – and should get anyone’s attention! Praying for the lost!
    1. Dee Dee says:
      Love this song,Searching! It became special to me after losing my son Christian! He truly does make a way, thanks for sharing.❤️
      1. Carol J Mylin says:
        ♥️ Remembering with you, Dearest Debbie! That song also “took me back”… Love to you as you remember Christian, and see God’s guiding hand in your life today! ♥️
      2. Tina says:
        ❤️Sending some heartfelt love and hugs dear Dee Dee. Holding you close in prayers..❤️
    2. AZ Walker says:
      I love this song, thank you for sharing!
    3. Lynne from Alabama says:
      Dear Searching—I always love your song suggestions! We must of grown up on the same music! I sang in the choir and praise team from the time I was a kid up until about seven years ago when I started having vocal cord issues. I love to sing and music has always played a big role in my walk with the Lord! Thanks for reminding me of all these great songs! ❤️
    4. Cee Gee says:
      Amen!!! Beautiful song! ❤ Love you, sister!
    5. Tina says:
      What beautiful words in this song.. thank you sweet Searching for introducing me to it..❤️❤️
  63. Nicky Winterton says:
    Although Pharaoh was the one making all the noise, and taking all these terrible actions against the Israelites, he had no effect on God’s plan. The Lord is a rock, and is faithful for ever and always to those who love Him. Even when the noise of the world gets me down, I pray that I will remember the everlasting and firm love of our Father in Heaven, and know that He is always over and above everyone and everything of this world..
  64. Kelly (NEO) says:
    “The midwives, however, feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had told them; they let the boys live. . . . Since the midwives feared God, he gave them families.”
    What courage and conviction to obey God over the rulers of this world. Shiphrah and Puah must have been heros in the eyes of the Hebrews for their names to be enshrined in Scripture!
    .
    These passages tell me that horrific things will happen in this life. God sees and hear the cries of His people in the midst of their suffering. He may not bring them out of it. But His purposes will be accomplished nonetheless.
    .
    My hope is in God, not in favorable outcomes.
    .
    Have a blessed day, ladies
    1. Carol J Mylin says:
      ♥️
    2. Tina says:
      ❤️My hope is in God, not in favorable outcomes! I love this, Kelly!❤️
  65. Tina says:
    What aspects of God’s character stood out to you, challenged you, or encouraged you from today’s reading?
    .
    Talking to Abbi this morning she was talking about being anxious about today, although, there is nothing too strenuous going on. I said to give all to God as He already knows what today looks like and that she will get through and be victorious..
    It’s talking to Him, God.
    It’s trusting that He hears, sees and knows you.
    It’s trusting Him..
    It’s giving your day, every aspect of your day to Him..
    .
    Moses’ parents trusted, believed, had hope in God and His care for their son..as they weaved the basket that was going to hold their son..
    Reminds me of my crocheting projects.. usually shawls for expected babies.. I pray as I do, God’s care, loving arms around them and grace. I pray hope and joy and God’s peace into the shawl..
    I imagine Moses’ parents wove love and prayers into his basket too..
    .
    My prayer today is that my whole being trusts and receives the hope for my life in Christ Jesus.. the prayers of those who have gone before, and on whose prayers for my life, I stand..
    I am here.
    I am wanted.
    I am loved.
    I am free.
    I am hope-filled.
    I am saved.
    I am redeemed.
    I am forever loved by God..
    .
    If God is for me, WHO can be against me…
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
    Happy Monday !
    Much love, as always covered in prayers..
    Tina ❤️
    1. Searching says:
      Amen,amen,amen. Thank you, sister, for your touches-my-heart prayer. Love you❤️
      1. Kelly (NEO) says:
        ❤️
    2. Cat-tee says:
      Amen ❤️
    3. Jess says:
      Tina, our youngest son arrived to us from foster care at 7 months old with only a crochet blanket and a bottle. The blanket had been hand made and donated to give to a little foster kiddo. Our son is now 5 and still carries this blanket with him and is not willing to go to bed without it. He wraps his little fingers through the little holes and he calls it “ma”. I had never considered that someone probably was praying for the little one who would receive this blanket as they created it. If their prayers were anything like yours, this blanket has absolutely been a source of protection and joy for this little one. A reminder that the prayers even of strangers are powerful.
    4. Cheryl Blow says:
      Amen!❤️
    5. Cee Gee says:
      Amen! ❤❤❤ love back to you! Rainy and chilly here – a fireplace would be wonderful!
    Fear not Ladies!
    The Lord is for us; we will not be afraid.
    Amen.
    1. Kimberly Reed says:
      AMEN!
  67. Tricia C says:
    Remembering to give it to God in the good and bad. He already knows the future. He’s got whatever I may be going through.
    And I like what was said about how Moses’ mom trusted in God for Him. I need to trust in God for my children and grandchildren
    Have a blessed Monday, Sisters. ❤️
  68. Adoma says:
    I wonder what thoughts went through the mind of Moses mother as she diligently and lovingly crafted his basket. She may have wondered if she would ever see him again. She may have not known that he would be returned to her, or that he would be one of the greatest leaders of Israel, or that he would see God face to face.
    But the one thought that probably calmed her heart was that God is.And with that alone, she was able to put her infant on the river and go back home.
    We may not know the future,so we get worried by circumstances. Its time though, to let God be God.
    1. Tricia C says:
      Yes! Amen!
    2. Kelly (NEO) says:
      Great reflection
    3. Searching says:
      Thank you, ADOMA.
      Reminds me of a sign I have: Don’t worry about tomorrow … God is already there.
    4. Cat-tee says:
      Wow, yes!
    5. Sheryl says:
      So good! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
    6. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:
      Great thoughts, thanks for sharing!
    7. Tina says:
      I am cirtain through her thinking ‘Mama Moses’ worried and flapped and for sure wondered.. but i bet she came to the same resolve as me these days..I may not be able to… BUT GOD.. AMEN.❤️
  69. Mary says:
    aspects of God’s character that challenged me – He is faithful to His people; He honours and protects those who fear Him (the Hebrew midwives); He rewards acts of faith; He is fair and kind (the passage from Luke really shows this!). What does it mean to fear God today? as I deal with what’s in front of me, I should not be sluggish but commit to it as though I am working for the Lord
    1. Kelly (NEO) says:
      Amen
  70. Aleida Polanco says:
    Definitely His faithfulness and that He is a God that can always be trusted. When we put our faith in Him, especially by giving Him a precious gift like a child, He takes that gift and transformed it into something so beautiful and so much more than we could ever imagine. As I read what He did with Moses because his mother trusted Him, it reminds me to place my son and daughter in His hands everyday. I ask Him to Wow me because I know that He is able❤️
    1. Tina says:
      Amen, Aleida.. Amen!❤️
    2. Searching says:
      So good, ALEIDA – praying for all.
    3. Kelly (NEO) says:
      ❤️
    4. Tami says:
      I needed to hear this! Wow me Lord! You are able to do abundantly more than we can ask or imagine.
    5. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:
      Amen! Continued prayers for your family! ❤️
    6. Cee Gee says:
