Though dying, Jacob still worshiped the Lord with his full body, showing his faith in the God who is faithful through generations. Faith expressed through worship turns our hope toward God Himself, knowing that He will do as He has said even if another generation sees the fruit of our faithfulness.

How does this part of Jacob’s story help or equip you to respond to God in faith today?

Just because I don’t see results of my faith, trust and prayers doesn’t mean God isn’t hearing and working. His promises will be kept even if not seen until later generations

This passage is a reminder to remain faithful all of your days.

I come from a long line of what people call “generational curses”. I feel hope reading scriptures like this because with my children I have prayed and worked to create lives for them.

I think it points out that God really has the wheel. And what He wants to happen will be done. I do still have many questions, but in the face of how God is inscribing Himself and His Son’s name on His people and lineage is amazing. Also I love how it talks about God taking away shame. Shame one of the heaviest burdens we bear on a day to day basis other than sadness, can be lifted through faith in God and His forgiveness of our sins.

  10. Natasha R says:

What a life Joseph lived! He deceived his father, had conflict with his brother, had two marriages (the first one being unexpected), had feuding children, lived through famine …. And through it all he kept his eyes on God. And he did see God’s goodness in the land of the living, because his family survived the famine and he was reunited with his lost son. So on his deathbed he blessed and worshipped. All our lives are complicated, with high peaks and low valleys, triumphs and trials, strengths and stumbles. Mine has been wild! And my desire is that, like Jacob, I will be blessing and worshiping on my deathbed, knowing that God has and will fulfil His promises. ♥️

This reading is encouraging me to be continue to be a light to my children. I am so happy that my oldest daughter accepted the Lord when she was 4, just last year! I pray she will continue to grow in him and show her younger sister how to follow after him as well. I pray I can continue to show show you are to them.

  12. Jennah Berry says:

Needing some extra prayer today. My past has been creeping up and my intrusive thoughts run wild. All the prayer would be so appreciated ❤️❤️

    1. Cathy McVey says:

Praying for you Jennah. Remember, the past is the past. God has covered you and thrown these things as far as the East is to the West. It’s Satan that continues to bring them up. I recently posted a song by Megan Woods – “The Truth” . It is a beautiful song and speaks about who we are in Christ not our past. I know sometimes it’s hard to not get pulled into it though. https://open.spotify.com/track/5WcF82ipHJa8vQMMrjdbF4?si=YPviDx_rQSSZsxmYD0BKwQ. This is the link. Hopefully it works.

  14. Amber Cleveland says:

If you look to and lean on God you can have peace in all aspects of life. This doesn’t mean that things won’t be hard or trying but it will make things worth going through.

  15. Hannah Mousaw says:

“…the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day” – How beautiful and comforting is that?! I love how the picture of God as Shepherd illustrates his faithfulness despite our shortcomings.

  16. Traci Gendron says:

I have been struggling with sadness lately. Tanner died on 11/13/21. Everywhere I look I think of him. The feeling is heavy lately. Does this ever lighten? The more time goes by I feel the harder it gets. More time has passed since I was with him last. That is hard to handle. Strangely the beginning of this road felt slightly easier because it wasn’t farther away from him being here on earth. I didn’t expect this.

    1. Kris says:

I recently read in a book that we often ask the wrong question. We ask “why did he die?”, but we can be asking “why did he live?”. When we look at the blessing someone was, rather than the suffering they went thru, we can see God’s goodness and purpose for the life lived. Tanner received his ultimate healing when he left here and went to Jesus. What joy we can find in that. The longer time goes on, the closer you are to seeing him again when you get to heaven. I can’t imagine how hard this is, but I would like to encourage you to find comfort in knowing Tanner is in good hands, you will see him again, Tanner is whole and free from any limitations. I pray God will pour out His comfort on you in the way only God can.

      1. Cathy McVey says:

        ❤️

      2. Tina says:

I love that question.. Why did they, our loved one, live? Warms my heart to think that way!❤

    2. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

My heart aches for you Traci. I can not imagine.
I have a very close friend that lost her son 10 years ago in a horrible accident, he was 14. She posted yesterday that she just lost her dog – the one that they got for her son just months before he died. It was her last “connection” to him and her dog’s death brought fresh heartache.
I think healing comes – although there will always be a whole in the heart. And yet, with the healing there will be certain seasons, anniversaries or memories that chip at and reopen the wound that once again brings fresh sorrow.
I have never lost a child, but you are not alone in your heartache – sadly there are many who have and are walking the same road.
I pray God’s grace and healing for each of you. May God carry you through this time, just like He did before. May He strengthen you, comfort and keep you.
Many hugs and prayers for you today. ❤️

    3. Tina says:

Traci, you have been on my mind, these past few days, as I realised Tanners anniversary was coming up. I am sorry for your sorrow and heartache..Praying peace for your heart, and sending you hugs, lots of hugs covered in love..❤

    4. Cee Gee says:

Praying for you, csweet sister! Maybthe God of ALL comfort cover your heart with peace on those extra hard days. Love and hugs! ❤

  17. Tanya Evans says:

Prayer request:I need a new battery for my car but I just paid the rent Car keeps dying.

Comment:”Jacob describes God in three ways. God of his ancestors, Abraham,Issac, and. Jacob. Israel- Jacob was no innovator, pioneering some new religion, he was heir to revelation made first to his grandfather and handed on through his father to himself for the benefit of every future generation.
Secondly, this God was also Jacob’s personal God, who had led him all his life to this day. Despite Jacob’s many failings and conduct he was aware his life had purpose and meaning because God had taken his hand. Jacob had spent his life shepherding, and was not slow to recognize the Shepherd care of God in his own experience. All this comes from The Bible Speaks Today.

    1. Kris says:

Father, I come before you on behalf of Tanya, Your daughter. You see she is in need of something, and we are completely depending on You to be her Provider. You have promised to take care of Your children, and so we come boldly into Your presence with faith that You will meet this need. We are so grateful for Your provision and care in ALL things, even car batteries. Thank You for loving Tanya so much that You took this burden off of her and found a way to provide for her need. We give You praise and thanks for Your goodness and faithfulness.

      1. Tanya says:

Thank you for that prayer! Getting a new battery installed now! I was frustrated because I had to spend 198.00 at the dealer for a diagnostic and an oil change which could have gone toward a battery. They wanted to charge 310.00 for a battery. God is good and shows up.

  18. Vicki M says:

I don’t think I have much to add to all your wonderful insights. I was just reminded of when my son was a baby I used to sing the hymn ‘Abba Father let me be’ replacing the me with my son’s name while I rocked him. I have yet to see the fruits that prayer blessing but I’m trusting that God has him and in His time …
These are the verses that stood out to me:
“I never expected to see your face again, and now God has allowed me to see your children too”. Gen 48:11. Abundant gracious mercy
“… the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, the Angel who has delivered me from all harm…” Gen 48:15 God’s faithful guiding and protection
“I am about to die, but God will be with you and take you back to the land of your fathers”. Trust in God’s promise
Thank you Father that I have tasted your abundant mercies, been guided in your faithful protection, and can trust in your promises. Amen
    “Abba Father, let me be
    Yours and yours alone
    May my will forever be
    Ever more your own
Never let my heart grow cold
    Never let me go
    Abba Father let me be
    Yours and yours alone”.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤ what a sweet memory!

  19. Audren Phalen says:

It helps me remember that its not about me. What is about me is how I react to life, that is what I can control. The choice of acting in faith or acting in what I want.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      yes, Amen!

  20. Cee Gee says:

GRAMIESUE – I just went back to yesterday’s comments and saw your most excellent praise report! Hallelujah dancing with Tina! Thank You, God!!! ❤

  21. Cee Gee says:

How does this part of Jacob’s story help or equip you to respond to God in faith today?
Now that I am 70, I am more aware that what I will leave behind (material things) when I die will not amount to much. My focus and desire should be on the spiritual blessing – truth, lessons of faith, being an example of integrity and other godly traits, planting seeds of the gospel, etc.- rather than material things.
The death bed is our last opportunity to right any wrong or clear up any relationship issues with those on earth and with our Heavenly Father.
On that sombre note I remembered an old hymn, Make Me a Blessing. Here is the chorus:
    Make me a blessing,
    Make me a blessing,
    Out of my life
    May Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.
    °
May we each be a blessing to someone today! ❤ Love, prayers, and hugs!

    1. Cee Gee says:

SEARCHING – Thank you! I was using the sentence before (all for God’s glory) thinking you were just saying, “Can I get an amen?”!!! Lol ❤ Thanks for helping this old sister out!

    2. Rhonda J. says:

Oh that’s good! Yes, that sums it up!

      1. Cee Gee says:

    3. Traci Gendron says:

      So good. Thank you

    4. Traci Gendron says:

There is a book called, “Everything Goes Back in the Box”. I try to remind myself of this.

      1. Cee Gee says:

❤ thanks, Traci! I will check that out! ❤

    5. Tina says:

Make me a blessing.., I love the words in this song! ❤

      1. Cee Gee says:

Tina, I haven’t sung that song since I was a youngster (and haven’t thought about it) that I can remember, until I wrote my comment today. Funny how God triggers memories! ❤

  22. Cheryl Blow says:

I think this shoes the power of what speak over our family. Our prayers make a difference in their future. At a recent birthday party for two of my grandkids, we shared what we saw in them. Leadership, adventurous, fun, joy, and more. I think it is important to speak life over our children and grandchildren.

And keep praying. There is a song out about doing just this!

Love all your insights! Praying for all.

    1. Cee Gee says:

Cheryl, I was typing my comment as you posted this. I can see we were on a similar thought train this morning. Love your comment and it is something I am very cognizant of. Thanks for sharing. ❤

    2. Rhonda J. says:

Oh what a great idea to do at the grands parties! I will try to remember doing this in bday cards! One friend once said that they keep a Bible to gift to them at a certain age, but they had put prayers over them in it through the years. I made a “10 year old memory book” for each of my granddaughters and put pictures birth through 10…and put questions, and Bible verses through our! I hope it speaks truth over them and anchors their faith when it matters.
This also brings to mind my mom’s birthday party several months before she passed away. We had gathered the grands and we went around and told her what we loved about her. Then a few months later she was asked some questions and what she what want to leave as an example…and she said “I want each of ya’ll to believe in Jesus so we can all be in heaven one day!” I don’t know that many walk with the Lord today, but I hope that blessing brings them back at some point.

    3. Kris says:

This is a quote I read in a book:
” One of the plainest truths about both towns and individuals is that they usually don’t turn into what we tell them to be, but what they are told they are.”

  23. Katie Gossett says:

I love in Isaiah how God says that Jacob’s children are the work of his (God’s) hands, and Jacob will no longer feel ashamed when he is in the midst of them.

This motivates my own prayers for my children. That they will belong to Christ, and be the work of God. Just as Jacob says of Ephrim and Manasseh, “They are mine”, let Jesus say of our children, “They are mine”.

  24. Maria Baer says:

Yesterday the one verse of Hebrews 11:20 stood out to me, and today it continues to be in the back of my mind as we read today’s scriptures— “By faith Isaac invoked future blessings in Jacob and Esau.”

The stories of Isaac, Jacob and Joseph blessing their sons always make me pause because, in this modern world, it feels that blessings like these men bestowed, are something “those people did,” underscoring how a simple blessing shows that we are looking forward to God’s promises being fulfilled beyond our own life. I read a commentary that said about this story that “blessings are a legacy of faith and hope, urging each generation to look beyond present challenges and trust in God’s enduring promises. This chapter highlights how blessing others roots future generations in faith and hope.”

on the younger Ephraim, giving him a greater blessing, it illustrates that God’s plans do not always align with human expectations or traditions (usually the eldest son receives the greater blessing). Jacob’s faith in God’s promises is clear, as he speaks of God’s faithfulness to him and trusts in God’s continued guidance for his descendants.

Also, it’s interesting how Jacob blessed the youngest son, because to me, that act emphasizes that God’s plans don’t always align with our expectations. It helps us acknowledge God’s hand in our lives, allowing God’s will to shape future generations, even when it diverges from traditional paths.

    1. Tricia C says:

Maria, I love this! Thank you for sharing!

    2. Carol H says:

      ❤️

    3. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, Maria, so good! Loved to look beyond present challenges and trust in God’s enduring promises.”
Thank you! Continued prayers for you. How are your children coping with losing all their stuff?! That can be hard I imagine?!

    4. Cathy McVey says:

Oh this is so good Maria. Praying for you and your family. Your faith is so strong. Hoping your insurance and all that goes with that is all coming together. ❤️

    5. Tina says:

This is so good, Maria! Thank you!

Continued prayers for you and yours covered in much love and hugs.❤

  25. Kris says:

The thing that stands out to me is that these men had faith in GOD, not in themselves. Our faith isn’t in our ability to do everything right, but in GOD’s faithfulness to His word, His ways, His precepts, His ordained order. So, I can have faith in God because God is faithful, not because I act right all the time. Faith is based on God, not on me.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      yes, amen!!

    2. Vicki M says:

“Faith is based on God, not me.” May I always remember that! ❤

  26. Jackie Tuckerman says:

Worship is key to our walk. There are times when my prayers feel dry and weak. Yet I can put on a praise and worship song and be renewed. God is always worthy of worship. He will lift me even in my dry times

    1. Sarah Matthews says:

      ❤️

    2. Tricia C says:

      ❤️

    3. Rhonda J. says:

I agree, I listen to praise and worship constantly and it is keeping my mind on HIM all day, through the good, the trials, confusion, doubt, whatever the day brings…I keep my mind on Him!!

  27. Blessed Mama of 6 says:

How does this part of Jacob’s story help or equip you to respond to God in faith today?

God’s ways are not our ways, and are so often upside down from our thinking.
    Sidenote:
It has always struck me as being kind of odd that it was Joseph’s sons who received the blessing, not Joseph himself. For being the favored son, he did not receive the honor of having a tribe of his own. I guess one could look at it in the way that he received two tribes instead of just one, but still, after his death, his name isn’t the one that is mentioned when it comes to the tribes of Israel.

  28. Mari V says:

Our God was/IS faithful then, and remains faithful today! I Trust Him. I have Faith in Him. OUR God will remain faithful till our last breath. When I don’t know the answers, I know my God does. LOVE, love, love that Jacob got to see his beloved son Joseph and his sons before his death. God is SO good! Even when we don’t “feel” Him…He is with us! HIS are the footprints in the sand! Happy Thursday sweet She’s! I’m so excited as our school is giving us tomorrow OFF. I’m sleeping in!!! Also please pray as I’m taking my car in tomorrow for a routine oil change, but I’m going to let the shop owner know about a couple of other things and HOPING it won’t be too expensive or something minor that the mechanic can just fix.

    1. Vicki M says:

Praying for a very inexpensive visit to the mechanic, Mari. God is faithful indeed!

  29. Erica Chiarelli says:

God kept him in all his travels, made him fruitful, blessed him regardless of himself…God is good ♥️ Jacob saw this, saw God’s faithfulness and great love for his family and blessed the next generation..he never thought he would see Joseph again but God allowed him to even see Joseph’s sons!

  30. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

“knowing that He will do as He has said even if another generation sees the fruit of our faithfulness”

We labor, we work hard, we serve, we pray, we are faithful- and at times, I’ll admit – “I wonder, where is the fruit of all that labor?” Maybe you have wondered the same.
    *********
But God — He is faithful!
    This scripture came to mind:
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
    *********
Don’t lose heart sisters, don’t grow weary — we will reap the good we sow, in due season…we may not live to see the results, but it’s all in God’s perfect timing.
    **********
@Aleida — praying for Victor this morning!
    ********
Last night my husband and I were asked to participate in a “mock interview” with a church that will soon be interviewing candidates for a pastor for their church. It helps the search committee to practice their questions & later get critiqued by my husband (who is also a pastor). Jeff has done this before, but I’ve never been involved. This time the committee asked for me to be there as they feel it’s important to get the PW’s perspective too.
Can I just say how stressful that was for me! I wish I had thought to ask you all to pray for me. I hate being put in the spotlight, it is the MOST uncomfortable place — I absolutely hate it! I am much more gifted in writing than in speaking, and boy did it show last night. I was so stressed, I felt so ignorant in my answers and so embarrassed. Of course my husband said, “you did great!” But I know I didn’t. It was a zoom meeting so I felt like I had all these people staring at me, expecting a real insight on being a pastor’s wife. It lasted for 90 minutes, it felt like an eternity! I couldn’t wait for it to end!
After it was over I was so disappointed in myself. I wanted to be a good representative for the Lord. I wanted to shine for Him, I wanted to, by my actions and countenance and spirit show the joy I have in serving Him. Instead, I felt like a complete failure and this morning all I can do is beat myself up…I know this has nothing to do with today’s reading, but I just needed to share with my sisters here — how much we need each others prayers and words of encouragement. Thank you for always being here and always listening.
    Love you all! ❤️

    1. MemeFaye says:

Sharon, I’m sure you did not fail with your answers. You share such great insights the Lord has placed on your heart, that i’m sure that wisdom was shared. We pray for your peace of mind and spirit!

    2. Mari V says:

Oh sweet Sharon….You have such great insight and YOU are such a blessing to all of us here I’m sure all of us can agree here that YOU did great! And what a blessing to partake in such important interview even if it was “mock” for the present time.

    3. Cee Gee says:

Sharon, you sound just like me, sister! When under pressure whether it’s in SS, life group, whatever, I freeze and what I manage to get out-if anything- is not my best ir wisrst answer. I always replay what translired in my head and really have to shake my finger at myself to just let it go! ❤ I am thinking that what they saw in you may help them be more empathetic with wives in an actual interview. Maybe God felt some of the committee could use a lesson in that and trusted you with being a part of that learning experience on their behalf. Love you AND your wisdom and praying God fills your heart with PEACE over this as you remember this was your FIRST time to do something like that! ❤

    4. Lynne from Alabama says:

I know it went much better than you thought, dear Sharon! I hate zoom meetings. I would rather address a large group in person than have a group of people staring at me on a screen! You seem to be the perfect PW and I am sure they saw that! Much love!

    5. MI Sherry says:

I also hate being put in the spot. My brain fails to respond under pressure. Give me time to formulate my answers and type them, but speak on a whim? Nope! I’m still learning, but I try to remember that the Holy Spirit can translate my mis-spoken and mixed-up words and speak to hearts, so the listener can understand what I was trying to convey. Trust Him!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Same!! I freeze when put on the spot!! And even leading a group, it has been a leaning on God! At alter call…I get anxious because I don’t know what they will come to ask, I had rather it be authentic in conversation, but I have learned to trust God.

Sharon, it is over, so don’t look back at it and analyze…of the “I should have” and “why didn’t I” I’m sure they saw exactly what was needed!

    6. Foster Mama says:

I agree, my sister, that we are always harder than ourselves than others….choose to believe your husband. ALSO…., do those who did the interviewing know you are “more gifted in writing than in speaking”?! If so, it may expand / tweak their interview such that they will capture other treasures in the couple they are considering won’t lose out on an amazing PW in their next candidate ❤️ My guess is you were an important part of what happened last night.

Still, I’m praying for you!! As all my sisters know…I am the queen of “beating myself up”(if I could earn money from it I’d be a millionaire LoL)…it can be so debilitating and steal your day. Praying it won’t.

      1. Foster Mama says:

Oh wow!! So many responses since I started typing…such pressure, eloquent, well-written words, my sisters….SUCH a blessing, this group of women ❤️❤️❤️

    7. GramsieSue says:

      Oh sweet Sharon,
We always look back and wish we could have said or done something differently. And I’m sure you’re being too critical of yourself. Just know, God takes it all and uses it for good. Whatever you think wasn’t good, God makes good.
      So don’t beat yourself up!
Covering you in hugs today! ❤️

    8. Tricia C says:

I’m right there with everyone else, Sharon. We always tend to be harder on ourselves. Praying that you give yourself some grace today. ❤️

    9. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

My sweet sisters, thank you for your kind, encouraging words! I am going to try & put it behind me and let it be a lesson to me – always ask for prayer back up, be honest – but be yourself & lean dully on the Holy Spirit to guide.

All of your insights have been so helpful, thanks a million times over!! ❤️

    10. Vicki M says:

Echoing my sisters. I appreciate your insights here and your vulnerability. Sometimes just being ourselves is the best thing we give rather than prepped answers. As you bless us here, you will have blessed the interview there. You will have done much better than you think!

    11. Cathy McVey says:

Oh Sharon, just as others have said, I’m sure you did better than you think. We are always hardest on ourselves. You always have the best insights and words for all of us no matter the situation. Look at the number of years you have been a preacher’s wife! I think that must be the hardest thing to do. Sending prayers and blessings your way. By the way, I think Zoom calls are the hardest!! ❤️

  31. Julia C says:

I love what Jacob says in Genesis 48:21 | “Look, I am about to die, BUT GOD will be with you and will bring you back to the land of your fathers”. He could say this because he experienced the fulfilment of God’s promises in the past:
    – I am with you (Genesis 28:15)
    – I will be with you (Genesis 31:3)
    – God has been with me (Genesis 31:5)
    – God will be with you (Genesis 48:21)
Our stories may be different. God’s specific promises to us may be different. But God’s promise of His presence being with us, is for us all ❤️

Praise God for His ever presence – in every generation!

    2. Holly Stokes says:

LOVE this. Thank you for sharing your heart with us this morning!

Jacob has quite a different view of God at the end of his life than he did when he deceived his father, when he lied to his father regarding finding game so quickly “the Lord your God brought it to me”. And at the end of his life he is worshipping God and proclaims “The God who has led me all my life long to this day, who has redeemed me from all evil”. God did a work in Jacob’s heart and life and He does it for us as well! Praise God He doesn’t leave us as we are when we choose Him, but grows us to become more and more like Him!

  34. Linda in NC says:

A day behind as usual! Had to jump on to comment on yesterday. I really needed the Psalm 37 reminder. God’s got this.
Had a checkup on Tuesday. Blood work results shows I’m anemic, explains why I’m tired, but means more tests. Also my heart murmur seems to be more pronounced = echo needed. Gene’s surgery to place suprapubic catheter is tomorrow (12 EDT). I was reminded to bring my burdens to the Lord and leave them there! Prayers are much appreciated. I continue to lifted your concerns sweet sister she’s. My heart is particularly close to my fellow caregivers as I personally know what your path is like. Love y’all!!

  37. Danielle B says:

Seeing where Jacob is in his faith on his dying day, helps me understand that it is not our past or our sin that defines us in the eyes of God. This is the same Jacob who deceived his brother, But God in the end he sought his shepherd and he wrestled with God. My choices don’t need to be what keeps me in shame. I can confess and seek the shepherd.

  38. Searching says:

First verse got my attention with Jacob pulling together what little strength he had left to stand up and worship. May we all realize the importance of worshiping the Lord our God no matter our circumstances – in exuberant youth or nearing our sprint into heaven. Reminds me of a song I’ve mentioned before, Look For Me At Jesus’ Feet (Booth Bros version is my fav).

In Jacob’s blessing of Joseph’s sons, my first thought was ‘here we go again’ as he reversed the order of the sons for the blessing – even as Joseph protested. And yet, Jacob was led by God in this – and we know there’s no thwarting God’s plan. May we earnestly seek God’s leading, following Him even if discouraged by others.

I saw in one commentary a comparison of the similarities between Joseph’s life and the life of Christ. Bears more looking into as I don’t recall seeing that comparison before

LYNNE FROM AL – praying, sister! ❤️

My thoughts were along the same likes as you today, Searching ❤️ I could picture Jacob struggling to sit up, clearing his throat, and using what strength he had to pray a blessing over his grandchildren/legacy.

      1. Carol J Mylin says:

        ♥️ Love this picture… perhaps because I’m 78?!?

    2. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

With all the mention of Jacob leaning on his staff and worshipping, I got a little confused because I hadn’t read that. I went back to chapter 48 two more times, still didn’t see it. Then I looked at the previous chapter. In the NIV it’s in chapter 47:31. I’m guessing that in other translations it is the first verse of chapter 48. – mystery solved!

    3. Mari V says:

I too, have heard of similarities between Joseph and Jesus. Briefly that Joseph was a small picture of what Jesus was like. Makes me want to dig a little deeper.

  39. Sarah Carmona says:

I had the time and dug in this morning! I hope you all enjoy the following findings ❤️

The text tells us that the Jacob’s faith was firm while he was a dying, so that he poured forth no murmurs, but plentiful benedictions as he blessed both the sons of Joseph.

He also spent time worshipping by expressing gratitude (Gen. 48:11) and sharing his testimony (Gen. 48: 15-16).

The last part was leaning on his staff which showed his attitude. He could’ve done this laying down, but he didn’t. He did all of this leaning on top of his staff. This staff was a life long companion of Jacob’s and a witness of God’s faithfulness in his life. ❤️

    1. Julia C says:

      Great insight! ❤️

    2. GramsieSue says:

Such a sweet image…leaning on his staff.
My Steve walks with a cane now…leans heavily on it actually since there is still no feeling in his feet.
Makes me picture Steve leaning on his cane to bless his grandchildren. ❤️

I LOVE to kiss and hug/embrace my grandchildren, often times whispering a praise prayer to the God who blessed me with them as I hold them close.. Such a joy in My heart in those moments..
    .
“Though in his last days.. ” that struck me, from the verse in Hebrews, as I thought, does worship have a use by date?
Yes, of course he worshipped! He got to see his son whom he thought had been killed.. As one who gets to live in ‘four generations’, the worship and praise will go on until my dying breathe! And even then..
There is no cut off point to worshipping.. There is no limit to praising and for blessed assurance, there is no end to praying in faith.. Whether we see it in our lifetime or not.. ( Jacob got to see his son again, even with dimmed eyes, and he got to hold the next generation) God is Faithful.. ALWAYS.. and He will bring our faith and trust in Him through to completion.. Today tomorrow, one day Soooooooooon HE is able! He is capable. He WILL!!
    .
    Amen.
    .
Happy Thursday, y’all! As always covered in prayers and praise for all He is doing in our lives.
HE IS WORTHY OF OUR WORSHIP AND PRAISE.❤

Thinking about all the history we’ve covered in these two weeks from Cain and Abel through Abram leaving Ur to the Israelites in Egypt. God has been faithful even when His people strayed from the path. What blessed assurance we have watching God work out His plan from the beginning of time! He indeed alone is worthy of our worship!

    1. Julia C says:

      A blessed assurance indeed ❤️

    3. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, I have to admit my brain can’t keep all of it straight. I know the stories of each, but kinda have a hard time wrapping it up all together through these generations. Like- this is Joseph…that got sold by his brothers and became second in charge in Egypt at this point? I really didn’t put that Joseph with the Joseph that deceived his father and went away??? I’m confused.

      1. Hannah Mousaw says:

Hey Rhonda! Have you heard of a book called “Woven” by Angie Smith? It really helped me understand the big picture of scripture and put together all the stories in the Bible that I heard growing up. I definitely recommend it!

      2. A Walton says:

That is Jacob who deceived his father (Isaac) and went away. Jacob is Joseph’s dad. Yes, lots of stories and so many names. It is really very beautiful. I once heard it recommended from the Bible Project to read Genesis 50 times. One year I read it 15 times. It was actually really amazing. I would recommend it. Lots of things I had read before but didn’t really notice until I got into it more and more.
