  1. Thea Fox says:

    Not surprising more so reassuring in the way that the truth always comes to light if you follow God and trust him with your whole self.

  2. Stephanie Bryant says:

    This is the first time I ever saw Enoch and Methusalah ever in the Bible. So when they say you should always read the Bible for yourself, you should.

  3. Michelle Smith says:

    Not so much surprised as reminded that Jesus did not come to condemn us so I need to stop condemning myself and have faith that God loves and show that love to others through my obedience.

    1. Sarah Hanna says:

      I had the same exact take away. I’m constantly condemning myself and convincing myself that God is disgusted with me. I highlighted the part that reads, “For God so loved the world…” and the part immediately after. It’s so difficult to comprehend the kind of love and grace that God gifts us with because our humanity is so limited in producing it.

  4. Lindsey Bradley says:

    It is fascinating that Enoch had Methusallah at age 65, however, lived 300 more years after that. So wild to think about being on Earth for that long!

    What stood out to me is that without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God.

  5. Giavanna Fida says:

    Not surprised but it always hits when I read when Jesus says, “If I tell you earthly things and you do not believe. how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” The spiritual realm and heaven above is soooo far beyond our comprehension that no matter what we do we will never fulllllly understand it all. We weren’t designed to. That’s where faith comes in.

    Also I want to know soooo much more about Enoch and his walk!!!!!

  6. Crystal Pitzer says:

    ❤️

  7. Paula Olivares says:

    I liked being reminded that there is so much foreshadowing of what Jesus will do in the OT (as Moses listed the serpent up). We look at the cross and we see no longer poisoned. What a beautiful image

  8. Jenna Livingston says:

    I didn’t find either one of these things as a surprise, more of gentle reminder. 1) Jesus did not come to condemn the world only save the world. 2) The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established upon the waters. -Psalm 24:1-2

  9. Jade Gaines says:

    I’ve never actually read the full chapter of John 3, but have committed John 3:16 to memory since I was 7. I’m glad I was taught it the way I was I was because it changed my life. I wouldn’t have seen the deliverance in it if I simply read the whole chapter. However John 3:1-21 was a very realistic conversation that I have with people to this day. John 3:16 is a complete masterpiece

  10. Indyia Ford says:

    I love reading about the process of salvation!

  11. Latoddra Mason says:

    I think having children played a big part in me turning back to god. I’m thankful but I pray that my children never turn away in the first place.

  12. Michaela Hawkins says:

    This reading is so validating! Enoch walked with god every day for 300 years. That means he trusted god! Because of this, he was one of the few in the “Hall of Faith” to have something done to him. He didn’t have to do anything spectacular, he just had to trust and walk with god to be give eternal life. We just went away like *snap* as if God needed a friend. We are inheritors of the earth, but faith and trust in him will allow us to inherit His Kingdom. He loved us so much that he gave his only son so we would have the option/opportunity to accept him (full well know that some he loves will reject him and walk away). That is TRUE LOVE!

  13. Makenzie Griggs says:

    I don’t think it took me by surprise because I know God works in ways such as this.. but, I did find it validating and relatable that Enoch became faithful (or a believer) after her had his son, Methuselah. I, too, started living life very differently whenever I had my first child. I wanted her to see God’s light in me and reciprocate her light to the world. I wanted to be better for her, and ultimately, for God. To enter into the Kingdom of Heaven and see my children there. I knew I had to get right for their sake; to be the mother they deserve- the mother God planned for me to be. Thank you Lord.

  14. Melissa Richards says:

    Amen

  15. Amy EB says:

    I was surprised that the story of Enoch was so short. To be found worthy of being taken by God, it seems like there would be a huge list of accomplishments and all the ways he walked by faith and brought glory to God. He walked with God. I’m sure he did other things. But what was recorded in the Bible for us to read as we study God’s word is just that he walked with God. Something we can all strive to do, nothing specific we have to accomplish or bar we have to meet. Just walking with God through all our years.

  16. Amber Cleveland says:

    I would not say this was a surprise to me but I do have a question. I have heard many conflicting things about about being baptized. Isn’t this what Jesus was referring to when he said with water to be born again? Well the question is why is it they say you do not need to be baptized but in this it stated you do to be borne again and be saved? Am I reading this wrong?

    1. Megan Wu says:

      Hi Amber, baptism is an outward reflection of an inward decision. It alone does not save you. Belief in Jesus, God’s Son, saves us. It’s not that we don’t have to be baptized but it’s not a deciding factor in whether you are or are not saved. Imagine you are killed on the way to be baptized. That would not keep you from eternal life with Jesus in Heaven. Hope that helps!

  17. Jazz Nean says:

    Loved that Tim was on the podcast, he’s one of my favorites!!
    There is “The Book Of Enoch”, you can buy on Amazon to know more. Tim has talked about it many times on his pod cast, and The Bible Recap has talked about it as well. I forget why it is not in the Bible.

  18. Kalli Huehn says:

    Did anyone noticed how short Enoch’s life span was, comparatively? He lived 365 years, while it was more common to life 700+ years. So we are lead to believe he lived a “short life” and passed unexpectedly. Yet it was still righteous and filled with faith.

    1. Hannah Mousaw says:

      That’s so interesting! No I didn’t notice, thanks for pointing that out!

    2. Megan Wu says:

      Hi Kalli, Enoch did not pass. The Bible says “God took him”. They talked about this in depth in week 2 of the podcast which I found very interesting.

  19. Erica Chiarelli says:

    I’m not sure if anything surprised me, but just in thinking of a man who lived thousands of years ago…thousands before Jesus…and he lived a life so pleasing to God, that God took him. Where He put him, we don’t quite know. But that kind of faith is amazing! We have Jesus and His Spirit to help us live that kind of life with a faithfulness I pray I live in constantly!

  20. Candyce Abbott says:

    Hello ladies! I wanted to ask for a prayer request. I have a very important job interview tomorrow morning. Please pray that I get this job for me and my family it will change a lot for us. Thank you

    1. Tina says:

      Praying Candyee.. prsying nerves are removed and that peace and confidence replace it! ❤️

    2. Shannon L says:

      Praying for you and cheering you on!! You’ve got this, Candyce!

    3. Therese says:

      Praying

  21. Ashley Obondo says:

    We have been given the answer of how to please the Lord, simply walk with Him by obeying and trusting Him, it’s so simple and not complicated

  22. Victoria E says:

    Elizabeth Oster praise God! I also have a prayer request for a difficult conversation I need to have with someone at work tomorrow. Please pray for strength for me and understanding from the other person.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Prayers, Victoria E! ❤

    2. Tina says:

      Praying Victoria E.. it is well dear sister, go in peace, the Lord your God is with you!
      Amen.
      Hu.gs to you and yours.❤️

  23. Searching says:

    Walking with God, what a testimony to Enoch’s faith. What was that like? Maybe – good morning, God, what are we doing today?
    – am I starting the day with that question???

    Yes, KELLY (NEO) – I looked at a timeline too and was surprised at the overlap of the OT lives. Also a bit surprised that Enoch, being one of the youngest at 365 was the father of the oldest.

    Another surprising thing is how unfamiliar I was with Psalm 24!! I’ve read it before but apparently it had been a while. Especially liked vs 4-5.
    4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
    Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
    Nor sworn deceitfully.
    5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord,
    And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

    1. Tina says:

      Searching… Good Morning..❤️

  24. Lauren Hayner says:

    What stood out to me in today’s reading is the contrast between Enoch being taken by God and Jesus saying, “No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.” I came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed this, and I found comments that were very helpful. Someone pointed put the difference between God “doing” supernaturally throughout humankind versus Jesus being able to move supernaturally.

    I truly believe that God never contradicts himself even if something seems like a contradiction. I think learning to believe things about God’s character and not letting anything sway that belief is a form of faith.

    1. Jazz Nean says:

      Yes I noticed. Ty, that helps.

  25. Lisa Weiand says:

    How hard in today’s life with all there is to distract us from our Lord and Savior…. I wish we had less distractions.

  26. Allison Bentley says:

    A lot captured my attention today but mostly “by Faith Enoch was taken away, and so he did not experience death”. The action here is taken away. I believe God can take away (or add) whatever we need in our lives. I also believe that taking “things, people and places” can often be beneficial and better for our walk with God. So Lord I ask that you remove from me anything you see fit so that my walk is in step with you. Teach me to lean on you. You know my needs before I do and trust in Your plan- Amen

  27. Natasha R says:

    Enoch walked with God! That’s a #lifegoal right there. What a simple, beautiful, profound way to describe a life. This may just be what I want on my headstone when I die.

  28. Kira H. says:

    Coming into this reading I was trying to figure out why I didn’t remember Enoch’s name – what a testament to him that his story is one that is so simple and yet so profound and meaningful. Reminded me of Damaris, a woman mentioned in Acts 17:34 for believing – Janette Oke wrote a book called “A Woman Named Damaris” that first introduced me to her, and I’ve never been able to forget how much power and meaning is in that simple phrase. Praise the Lord for yet another reminder of what in our stories truly matters – believing and walking with the Lord.

    1. Tricia C says:

      Amen!❤️

    2. Elizabeth Oster says:

      I love Janette Oke!! I will have to look for that book!!

  29. Jennifer Anapol says:

    I love the fact that Enoch simply lived to please God. The author of Genesis doesn’t highlight any major accomplishments of Enoch’s, just simply pleasing God. I pray that would be my life goal!❤️

    1. Tina says:

      Praying with you Jennifer that I live my life to please God..
      Hugs.

  30. Sophie M says:

    Lord Bless you, She’s! Today is my mother’s heavenly birthday and I feel a peaceful presence over my heart.
    How beautiful is Enoch’s story! “ By faith he walked with God and pleased God.” Amen!!!

  31. Traci Gendron says:

    So simple, Enoch walked with God. Yet, so powerful.

  32. Nicole Powell says:

    When I was reading this I thought God love for us when we really follow in his steps is amazing

  33. Julia C says:

    Between the simplicity of Enoch’s walk with God and David’s confidence in ‘the God of his salvation’, I felt a bit like Nicodemus today. Being born again…

    I read in Enduring Word (and the NET translation) that the word “again” can also be translated as “from above”:
    “Essentially, this means to have new life. A theological term for this is regeneration. It isn’t simply a moral or religious reform, but the bringing of new life.” (David Guzik, EW)

    “These solemn words for ever exclude the possibility of salvation by human merit. Man’s nature is so gripped by sin that an activity of the very Spirit of God is a necessity if he is to be associated with God’s kingdom.” (Morris)

    Also from Enduring Word: “We may say there are Seven Wonders in John 3:16.
    God – The Almighty Authority
    So loved the world – The Mightiest Motive
    That He gave His only begotten Son – The Greatest Gift
    That whoever – The Widest Welcome
    Believes in Him – The Easiest Escape
    Should not perish – The Divine Deliverance
    But have everlasting life – The Priceless Possession”

    1. Tricia C says:

      ❤️

    2. Searching says:

      Love the list of 7 wonders, thank you for sharing!

  34. Lara Castillo says:

    For some reason these verses jumped out at me today- “If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven, but he who descended from heaven: the Son of Man.’ John 3:12-13.
    I will be thinking about them as I go through my day. I’ve been loving all the comments- thanks everyone who has been sharing their insights.

  35. Cheryl Blow says:

    “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬
    https://bible.com/bible/111/heb.11.6.NIV

    Without faith it is impossible to please God! And we believe He exists and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him!

    I want to please God and earnestly seek Him! I had never really notice the “rewards” part! But I know He does! We are covered daily with His live, mercy, and grace.

    Praying for all! How are our FL, NC, GA, TN ladies doing? Talking with a friend whose mom lives near Asheville and says it will be years snd things will probably never be the same! Praying for all!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Unfortunately, what your friend said is true, Cheryl. Heartbreaking!

  36. Gwineth52 says:

    Good Morning Shes
    Listening first thing to the Week Two podcast with Tim Mackie of The Bible Project “grounded”me for the readings ahead.
    Especially Mackie’s rendering of Enoch & how he was transferred from one realm (earth) to another (union with God in the Garden).
    Appreciated, too, his one line summary of Hebrews: “a great litany designed to see our lives in a larger drama”.
    There’s “much to be said” about starting the week with a preview & purpose for reckoning with the Word, “far exceeding our imagination”. Engendering the faith of our forefathers & mothers.
    Thanks be to God…& provision
    of the SRT team.

  37. Kris says:

    What is standing out to me is that we cannot please God without faith. Faith is the essence of it all. Like when Jesus talks about the wind, which we can’t see, but we believe in it and see the affects of it. We need to have faith, even though we can’t see things, but we can see the affects of faith in our lives. God is really speaking to me about building up my faith, literally putting it into practice with every day stuff, fully trusting Him to be the Husband and Father and Shepherd I need. These people in the old testament had so little, while we have bibles, podcasts, online devotionals, preachers everywhere, recorded worship music, tons of books to help us build our relationship with God… and yet we fail so much of the time. I want to be like them, simplify my focus, just lean on Jesus, stop “needing” the next best book, stop letting culture tell me what’s important…. I just want to trust in God to be my everything.

    1. Gwineth52 says:

      Preach, Kris!
      You hit all the right points!
      We do exist in the land of plenty.
      Yet find ourselves lacking still.
      If ONLY to trust His purpose, His plan.

    2. Rebecca W says:

      Me too!

    3. Rhonda J. says:

      YES, a BIG AMEN. We in this culture and living the dream, have no idea how to put our full dependency on the Lord, usually takes “earth-shattering” wake up call to tell us BOLDLY we CaNNOT control things. We need to learn to do it in ALL things, having a faith bigger than anything else. Doctors, drugs, finance, groceries, the gym. Our faith is most important, and the putting it into practice in a palpable way that shows our kids, and those around us! I feel like I’m SO preachy lately…But it is just my huge faith in God. My Belief in his Word. The Bible that shows over and over he is faithful and true!! But let it be so with each and every aspect of my day to day.

    4. Traci Gendron says:

      AMEN!

    5. Tricia C says:

      Yes, Kris!

    6. Tina says:

      Amen. ❤️

  38. Brooke Schweers says:

    I was surprised that Enoch started walking with the Lord after he was 65. It’s so sweet that God reaches down at different points of our lives and changes our heart to walk in step with Him.

  39. Cee Gee says:

    I hear this song a lot on the radio, but just listened to it while looking for the song Kim shared. I listened to the acoustic version this morning and was going to share it because it showcases the cry in his voice, but I saw this lyric one so I’m sharing it instead. This is the version on the radio. Please listen to the other one if you can.
    Simple words but so fitting as we study and learn more about God’s faithfulness through the generations, including us.
    ~~~~~~~
    Schlueter – Counting My Blessings (Lyric Video)
    1. CATHY MCVEY says:
      I love that song so much. It’s so true. It’s impossible to count all of the blessings of God. ❤️
      1. Cee Gee says:
        ❤ Amen, Cathy!
      2. Tina says:
        Amen. Cathy, indeed it is! There are blessings in each day, no matter how the day looks to us. He is faithful!❤️
  40. Mari V says:
    Good morning beautiful She’s!! Happy Monday!
  41. Rhonda J. says:
    If you are a “The Chosen” fan like me, you probably love the way they portray this passage with Jesus and Nicodemus. It’s very powerful. We find we all have such a juxtaposition of what “we think we know” and what is revealed as a truth. It’s a careful line. That’s why we have to stay in scripture and let that be our north star, the only truth, and trust in it as the definer. Not what people want us to accept as their truth. We can be taught things and be pharasies in that area, but if it conflicts with the truth, we must “see the light” and change our views.
    Have you known that to be true? In your younger years you “thought” one way about society norms, then as you had children or got married, the scales were removed? So we do grow in our wisdom. When we are in the word, and walking with Jesus, we are being “sanctified”…growing in our knowledge. Don’t Ever be TOO STUBBORN to grow and change your beliefs to be on the right side, God’s side.
    1. Cee Gee says:
      Stubborn! That would be pride rearing its ugly head. Good word, Rhonda! ❤ How are things with your neighbors after the damage?
    2. Kris says:
      Huge fan of The Chosen!!!!
  42. Sarah Ritchie says:
    In my family we have always spoken about how lovely and ideal it would be to die in your sleep, painless. That is what came to mind when I read about Enoch! Happy Monday fellow bible readers.
  43. Kim Compton says:
    Went to the Matt Maher concert last night and thought this song was a prefect for for this study
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GaSQ_1J21dA&list=PLGAOUQXuSwVRwdPywTrObgpWZG4UmwzzX&index=9&pp=iAQB8AUB
    1. Rhonda J. says:
      Beautiful song! Thanks for sharing, I have never heard it. (I’m also surprised it shared a link, I didn’t think it showed links, must be in the new update.)
    2. Cee Gee says:
      Thanks, Kim, I was thinking about what song to share just before I read your comment! I just listened to your share. It is perfect for the Hebrews study and I have never heard it either! But the first song I saw while linking “Stories” is the one I am about to share. It always pricks my heart when I hear it. Thanks for both! ❤
    3. Tricia C says:
      Wow. I never heard that song. Thank you for sharing.
    4. Adrienne Butler says:
      What song is it? The link is not working for me. I was trying to copy and paste into search bar but wouldn’t let me do that either.
      1. Cee Gee says:
        Matt Maher “The Stories I Tell Myself”. ❤
  44. Caroline Bridges says:
    Jesus told Nicodemus all of that information about heaven only to not believe it. I bet that sucks. I don’t know why that stuck out to me more than the actual Devo.
  45. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
    When I read Genesis 5:21-24, It doesn’t surprise me because I’ve read it so many times before – but every time I read it I am humbled by the way Enoch walked with God. He had such a personal, intimate relationship and faithfully walked with Him. So much so, that God just brought him home, without seeing death.
    Oh what that must have been like – to just “walk”right in to heaven!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Happy Monday sisters!

    1. Traci Gendron says:

      Love this! It would be so awesome.

  46. Adrianne says:

    What surprised you in today’s reading? Why was that surprising or unexpected?

    I think it’s super surprising that Enoch’s account is so short. We really only know that he fathered children, lived 365 years, was faithful and that because of his faith our Lord took him up with him so that he didn’t experience death.

    Enoch’s story is surprising because of its simplicity. His faith in God allowed him access to God and because of his faith he did not experience death. This one thing was rewarded with our Lord’s saving grace.

    1. Gwineth52 says:

      Agreed, Adrianne!
      Left wanting to know more about the life Enoch led so he came to be “transformed” & “transcended” unto God.

    2. Mari V says:

      Enoch’s simplicity…. love this Adrianne.

  47. Karen Y says:

    I’m surprised with verse 6 where it links believing God exists with believing God rewards. I don’t yet understand why the two are equally important to be noted by the author of Hebrews but it’s interesting to explore.

  48. Mia Faith says:

    Such great thoughts, sisters! Thanks for sharing and spurring me on to dig deeper.

    1. Tina says:

      Mia, Hello! You are often in my thoughts and prayers.. hope life is being kind to you and yours and that Father God continues to hold you close..sending love wrapped in hugs..❤️

  49. Carol J Mylin says:

    John 3:21 “But anyone who lives by the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be shown to be accomplished by God.”

    This verse isn’t a surprise, but it is always good to be reminded that any good that comes from my life is “accomplished by God”!!!♥️

  50. Vicki M says:

    I was surprised that there is so little written about Enoch. I went to look him up, thinking he is a person in the Bible whose story I had missed. But no. The two significant passages are as in our reading in Genesis and Hebrew. “Enoch walked with God”. “By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death…”. “For before he was taken away , he was commended as one who pleased God.”
    By faith he walked with God and pleased God.
    What a simple but wonderful way to be remembered!

    1. Kim Mullins says:

      Vicki, I have loved the short but sweet comment of Enoch’s life for years. It has always intrigued me too! What a testimony that Enoch walked with God and God took him!! I have had times where I wanted God to just take me too! But I know I need more refining in the fire first ♥️

      1. Vicki M says:

        Kim, I relate so much to your last two sentences! ❤️

    2. Kim Mullins says:

      24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
      *The KJV is my fav!

    3. Mari V says:

      Thank you for this insight Vicki!! His life was short and sweet!

      1. Vicki M says:

        ❤️

  51. Raquel Franco says:

    The fact that Jesus came not to judge but to save always stands out to me. It’s always a reminder to me on how to live

    1. Jody Striker says:

      I thought I had seen this before, but it struck me as new when I read it this morning. Jesus did not come to condemn, but to save. Neither should we be moving in condemnation, but offering salvation through Jesus. So good! ❤️

      1. Carol J Mylin says:

        ♥️

      2. Jackie Tuckerman says:

        ❤️

  52. Megan H says:

    The ‘taken up’ into heaven surprised me, I have never noticed that before.

  53. Anna Faith says:

    FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT DIE BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE!

    WOW! JESUS PAID THE PRICE FOR ME! I AM SO AMAZED BY THE LOVE OF JESUS! HE LOVES ME JUST THE WAY I AM!

    DEAR LORD JESUS, THANK YOU FOR PAYING THE PRICE FOR ME ON THE CROSS. BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS I COME TO YOU AND I RECEIVE EVERLASTING LIFE. JESUS CHRIST COME INTO MY BROKEN HEART. HEAL ME AND MAKE ME WHOLE AGAIN. I NEED YOU LORD JESUS. COME LORD JESUS COME. I LOVE YOU. BE THE LORD OF MY LIFE. FORGIVE ME JESUS. WASH ME CLEAN AND SET ME FREE. I BELIEVE IN YOU LORD JESUS. AMEN

  54. Carla says:

    Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? Only those whose hands are pure who do not worship idols and never tell lies. (Psalm 24:3-4 NLT) Enoch lived his whole life like this, 365 years! I know my whole life hasn’t been pure like this, but may I spend the rest of it working toward living a life pleasing to the Lord.

    1. Jill Ravensborg says:

      Which we never will do. We can rejoice that God is not looking for our hard work, He wants our belief in the One who worked so hard by being broken, shamed, and hung on the cross b/c we cannot do the work of paying the price needed for our sin. My pastor often says if you need to work at something, work hard at believing.

  55. Alli Barlik says:

    Nothing surprised me either. I forgot that John 3:16 was spoken by Jesus! I love the story of Niccodemus. He was truly one who stands out as we think of faith.

  56. Nadine Hall says:

    Something that surprised me was Jesus’ statement to Nicodemus: “No one has ascended into Heaven except the one who descended—the Son of Man.” I’ve read that verse so many times, but this was the first time I read it in association with Enoch. Both Enoch and Elijah in the OT avoided death by being taken up to Heaven by God. So, how can Jesus say no one has ascended except the Son of Man? Maybe there’s a difference between “ascending” into Heaven and being “taken up” into Heaven, but I found that statement of Jesus interesting when looking at it through the lens of Enoch’s walk of faith. I’m going to have to do some digging to figure this one out.

    1. Tara B says:

      Me too Nadine! I want to read into this further…

    2. Alli Barlik says:

      Maybe it’s the meaning of the original words? Greek/Hebrew??

    3. Vicki M says:

      I had similar thoughts and wondered about this

    4. Amy says:

      But the whole phrase is “no one has ever gone to heaven and returned”. Not just ascending but the ascending and descending is what I see in the “no one has ever” except Jesus.

    5. Donna Simmons says:

      It’s interesting the slight variations in translation. The NLT in vs 13 states no one has gone to heaven and returned

      1. Blessed Mama of 6 says:

        Thank you for this insight from the NLT!

    6. Nadine Hall says:

      I had the opportunity to discuss this with my husband this morning, and we basically came to that conclusion. Jesus is God; he is the only one who can volitionally descend and ascend to Heaven and Earth. We concluded that “ascending” is volitional: he can choose to ascend/descend because He is God. Whereas both Enoch and Elijah were taken BY God (sovereign appointment). It’s really just highlighting his God-hood which is amazing.

  57. Kelly (NEO) says:

    I wondered who taught Enoch about God. I looked up a timeline chart from Adam to Abraham. Adam was still alive when Enoch walked the earth. Enoch may have been taught who God was by Adam. Can you imagine?!
    .
    Have a great week

    1. Carol J Mylin says:

      Kelly, I just heard form Sheri’s mom, that she will be receiving Chemo twice monthly through April. I believe her prognosis is favorable, but they want to “be sure”… thanks for praying!

    2. Debbie S says:

      Wow, Kelly! Thanks for that thought! It seems completely plausible that Enoch was taught about God from Adam but I never thought of Genesis in that way. It helped bring that time to life for me!

    3. Maria Baer says:

      Kelly, I never thought of that, but in same thought, I cannot even imagine the first-hand account teachings that Adam and also Eve, provided those in his family.

      1. Cee Gee says:

        Can you imagine the conversations around the supper fire?! Father or Mother, tell us that story again about … Thanks for the visual, sisters! ❤

        1. Rhonda J. says:

          Yes, so true. How important our VERBAL story-telling of true miracles of God that we could tell our kids and our grandkids! I was once this, and then THIS happened, can you BELIEVE GOD SAVED Grandma??!!

          1. Cee Gee says:

  58. Kathy says:

    I am always amazed when I read the stories in the Old Testament about people who had such faith in God who didn’t have access to what we have today – mainly the Bible, but also churches and pastors and teachers. They didn’t have Jesus or the Holy Spirit but they still believed and walked with God. Their knowledge was incomplete but they were still able to look forward to God’s promise.
    I am so thankful that I have “seen” Jesus and that because of what He did for me on the cross I now have access into the presence of God.
    I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit who walks with me daily and who intercedes for me before God.
    Thank You, Father God, for people like Enoch who walked by faith even without having the whole story. Make me brave and bold so that I can tell others about Jesus and what He did for them on the cross.

    1. Anita McNiff says:

      ❤️❤️❤️

  59. Anna Whitt says:

    Nothing surprised me. But just reminded me how Geeat God’s love his for me. That although I am an undeserving sinner, he still sent his only Son to die for me. He is victory over son and death!

  60. Cee Gee says:

    NKJV MacArthur Study Bible 2nd Edition notes:
    Hebrews 11:6
    Enoch pleased God because he had faith. Without such faith it is not possible for anyone to “walk with God” or “please Him” (cf. 10:38).
    He is. The emphasis here is on “He,” the true God. Genuine faith does not simply believe that a divine being exists, but that the God of Scripture is the only real and true God who exists.
    Not believing that God exists is equivalent to calling Him a liar (cf. 1 John 5:10).
    “rewarder” – A person must believe not only that the true God exists, but also that He will reward men’s faith in Him with forgiveness and righteousness, because He has promised to do so (cf. 10:35; Gen. 15:1; Deut. 4:29; 1 Chr. 28:9; Ps. 58:11; Isaiah 40:10.
    Isaiah 40:10 –
    Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in power.
    He will rule with a powerful arm.
    See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Hebrews 10:8 –
    First, Christ said, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings or burnt offerings or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them” (though they are required by the law of Moses). 9 Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect. 10 For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time. …
    35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!
    36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
    37 “For in just a little while,
    the Coming One will come and not delay.
    38 And my righteous ones will live by faith.
    But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”
    39 But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.
