  1. ashley Lyons says:

    God reassured Abraham – he didn’t condemn him for his questions or doubts but guided him toward faith repeating that he would take care of him

  2. Kelsy Adhiambo says:

    “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” I felt God telling me to fear not, and to trust and obey Him, for He is my shield, and my reward, which he promises shall be very great, rests with Him! ❤️

  3. Jordan Akpan says:

    Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness” that really stood out to me.. because of the fullness of his story and his disobedience to God and trying to manufacture God’s timing. God I’d all know in md still counted his righteousness even when it seemed like he didn’t deserve it

  4. Kristi Aracri says:

    .

  5. Kelly Unger says:

    God knows all and it’s up to us to trust in him for he will carry us through anything because he knows the outcome!

  6. Sarah Hanna says:

    Again I notice how God counted his follower as righteous simply because of his faith. I’m being consistently reminded that my efforts to “be good” aren’t what make God favor me. It’s my faith in Him. My trust and belief in the truth that He loves me and has a plan for me. I’ve been doubting a lot at work and just so exhausted. These passages remind me that God has sent me where I’m at for a reason and He will make sure that that reason/purpose is fulfilled. “For I know the plans I have for you…”

  7. Stephanie Bryant says:

    God has definitely put a rainbow at the end of my rain. I was not allowed to work in my school while the school had to do somethings on their end. I was finally allowed to go back to my school. Just in a different role. And that’s ok.

  8. Jessamine Soler says:

    Genesis 12:1-3. The call of Abram was all about God and what He was going to do to and through Abram. It’s full of “I Will” statements from God meaning:
    1. If God said it, He was going to do it. He’s a promise keeper.
    2. None of God’s promises relied on anything that Abram had to do. All it required was for Abram to trust, believe and obey God’s word.

  9. Jacqueline Linton says:

    God was always with him, blessing him

  10. Carmen Chu-Villanueva says:

    God sees the whole picture. Like a coach from a football team. He sees the play. We are the players, we trust God and why he makes the decisions he does and follow. Then we win in the end because of our faith.

    1. Kat D says:

      Nice viewpoint because while our coach knows best, we have a chance of fumbling the play. We get up and try again knowing he is looking out for us to be successful.

    2. Lindsey Bradley says:

      Amazing analogy!

  11. Katie Goodson says:

    His faithfulness

  12. Indyia Ford says:

    It stood out to me that Abram uprooted himself all because of a promise made by God, he didn’t know if it was true or not but blind faith in the Lord is something that asked of us and we are rewarded by presence of the Holy Spirit just as Abram was.

  13. Nicole Powell says:

    Abram trusted God with everything

  14. Holly Stokes says:

    In Genesis 15 I am reminded and encouraged that God knows the deepest desires of our heart, and he wants to bless us. He desires for us to trust him and to obey, when we can do that He will give us the desires of our heart -Psalm 37:4.
    I am reminded of His goodness and his gentleness.

    “Lord God, what can you give me, since I am childless and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”
    Now the word of the Lord came to him: “This one will not be your heir; instead, one who comes from your own body.” He took him outside and said “Look at the sky and count the stars, if you can count them your offspring will be that numerous.”
    Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. -Genesis 15: 1-6

  15. Latoddra Mason says:

    Abram was up there in age yet because god said so he believed. Even when the factors are against us if god says it will be so then it will be.

  16. Audren Phalen says:

    An aspect of God’s character that stood out to me was His faithfulness. He could have made a nation out of any couple, let alone a couple that struggled with infertility. It isn’t Abram that that made Abram great, it is God who changed his name and made that couple into people of amazing faith.

    1. Claire Rouse says:

      I love this

  17. Melissa Richards says:

    Amen

  18. Amy EB says:

    Abraham built an altar to the Lord when the Lord promised He would give Abraham’s offspring the land they were in. Abraham didn’t have any offspring at that point. But the Lord is faithful. He keeps his promises. We don’t have to see the outcome to know our future is secure.

  19. Michaela Hawkins says:

    God is so patient. He always has a better plan. Best of all, even when you mess up or doubt like Abraham did when he gave Sarah to Pharaoh or said “how will you do this, I’m childless”…God still sticks to the plan!!

  20. Kimberly Reed says:

    Faith building!

  21. Andrea Gainous says:

    What stood out to me was God’s desire to bless his son Abraham and give him the pure desires of his heart.

  22. Anna Faith says:

    Dear Lord Jesus, Give me Faith to Trust in you and to Obey your still small voice. Guide me by the Power of the Holy Spirit. Open up the Eyes of my Heart so I can See clearly the Pathway you have called me to walk by Faith. Help me to take the Best Next Step of Faith. Open up my ears so I can hear you say this is the Way, Walk this Way. We trust to heat you, to see you, to Know you Oh Lord Jesus, Pour out Your Glory! We Surrender all. Have your way, Your Kingdom come Your Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven! AMEN!

  23. Rebekah Wilson says:

    God was patient with Abram. God told Abram he would make him great with many offspring, and Abram couldn’t understand how because he and Sarai were barren. Sometimes the lesson is found in the waiting.

  24. Adrianne says:

    What aspects of God’s character stood out to you, challenged you, or encouraged you from today’s reading?

    What both stood out to me and encouraged me is God’s covenant with Abraham because I know that through Jesus that original covenant includes me and all of the other believers in this world.

    That even back then, when Abraham didn’t know the future of the world, God did. His plan of bringing about the redemption and salvation of future believers through Jesus was already in motion.

    I also feel encouraged by how much work has been put into saving humanity and bringing us home. That even after I’m gone that plan of redeeming this world is still in motion. It just seems so big and vast you know?
    How all the breadcrumbs leads us back to the love God has for us, the love Jesus has for us and has been trying to instill and teach us so that He can bring us home. It’s just so EPIC but TRUE!! God is so GOOD!

  25. Searching says:

    Abraham believed God, he trusted God, he had faith in God, he was obedient to God. God was (and is always!) faithful to guide and protect Abraham as he “went out, not knowing where he was going.”

    In reading those words – being obedient without knowing the whole plan and destination – it dawned on me, do I ever KNOW where I am going while on earth? Know, as in guaranteed, without a doubt, this is where I’m going. Of course not, only God KNOWS. Praying to trust Him in His perfect plan.

    AMANDA NOBLE – so good to see you, and thank you for your testimony. Really impactful what your friend asked, much to think about now and in future circumstances.

    MARGARET W – praying for you in your recovery and in your role as caregiver. Praying for help in some form to relieve you at least periodically. In the meantime, praying for strength, patience and endurance for each day. Thank you for the praise report on your son’s job!

    CEE GEE – love the song reminder, we all feel weary some days ❤️

    LINDA K -your testimony of faith, trust and obedience, thank you!

    Prayer request, sisters, for a distant relative whose boyfriend died last night. I don’t know the circumstances but they had 3 children 2 and under. Praying she and her family come to know the Lord as they walk through this painful journey.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤ praying for your relative and family. How sad!

    2. Mercy says:

      Praying for your relative’s family, the young children and mama in this grief, so sorry.

  26. Natasha R says:

    God invites us to step out on a journey with Him. He reveals to us the destination (the “promised land”, eternal life with Him), but doesn’t lay out all the details. How we’re going to get there is unclear, the twists and turns of the path are hidden from us. It will surely be full of triumphs and challenges. But He assures us of his presence, guidance and sustenance through it all – and that is enough. By faith, we step out of our comfort zones and follow His will. What an adventure!

  27. Amber Cleveland says:

    Always believe and trust in God

  28. Leslie Littleton says:

    We can trust that when God sends us into the unknown and we respond with obedience, He doesn’t send us out without a plan. We don’t have to wander aimlessly and try and figure things out ourselves. Although we don’t know the plan, He does and He’s already gone before and worked it all out. He has a plan nd His plans are good.

    1. Amanda Grosh says:

      I needed to hear this today. In February, I lost my job and even though it was an extremely toxic place to work it took care of my daughter and I financially she is almost 11 and right before I found myself unemployed. She had just been diagnosed with scoliosis and needed a lot of medical care. for the past few years, I had felt a call to go back to school and finish my nursing degree that I had started when my daughter was just a baby, but I never had the courage to do so. as soon as I lost my job, my very first thought was God had given me years to come to this decision on my own but now He was choosing for me. It’s been a scary year, and most days I don’t know how we keep going but He keeps providing. I just have to remember that it’s His plan and it’s for His glory.

      1. Searching says:

        Praying, AMANDA, for continued financial provision and encouragement as you succeed in completing your nursing degree!

      2. Leslie Littleton says:

        Praying for you, Amanda. For courage as you step out in obedience and especially your daughter and her health❤️ step out in Faith. He who promised is faithful!

      3. Mary says:

        Praying for you and your daughter, Amanda, as you pursue your studies and support your daughter! God’s plan is so much bigger than ours! It would be nice to have it spelled out so we know what to expect! But then I guess we wouldn’t need faith.

  29. Jennifer Anapol says:

    I love that God sees us as individuals, even though there are so many people in this world. He still sees me❤️ I pray that I would trust in his goodness and obey whatever he calls me to do.

  30. Margaret W. says:

    I have always found it ironic that Abraham was given the Promised Land, but he lived his life as a nomad. The only part of it he ever owned was the tomb he bought to bury himself and Sarah. I also noticed today that in his travels, he stopped and built altars to God at several significant places in his journey.
    Finally, a praise: my son, who graduated from college just before the pandemic, has finally found a job in his field. He has been working food service far too long, and while that did give him some management skills, it was never where he needed to be. I am so happy to see him finally getting a job he deserves.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      Praise! That’s wonderful for your son! My son graduated in 2022 as well.

      1. Margaret W says:

        Mine graduated in 2019. It’s been a long wait.

  31. Sara Lindauer says:

    I think what is standing out to me from reading this summary of Abraham’s story of faith is how God is all knowing. He promised Abraham he would make his offspring as numerous as the stars and to think about that promise then in contrast with now when it has been thousands of generations since Abraham and his offspring are still being added as more disciples are made. I’m in awe of what a master planner God is!

  32. Mercy says:

    What challenged me in this reading, and in many other stories, is that God keeps His people in the unknown. He is mysterious. And when we want to know God, or draw close to Him, and co-labor with Him, we have to be comfortable with not knowing, yet still trust.

  33. Sophie M says:

    Gods is saying to us all “ please, just have faith in Me! “. I see a Father reaching his hands out to his children and saying “ I love you, have faith. “ how loving is our God. His promises he kept to Abraham and Sarai.
    I was having a conversation with my mother in law recently about in the middle of hardship remembering to praise Him. Gods plan for us is not over, sweet She’s. I pray that whatever burdens you have today place them upon the Lord and trust in Him!

  34. Susan Burley says:

    God remained steadfast in His promise to Abraham! He didn’t grow frustrated when Abraham kept asking when the promise would be fulfilled. Instead, the Lord kept reminding him that the promise would be worth the wait!

  35. Stephanie says:

    God has been challenging my perception of faith lately, so this study is so timely. Today I was reminded again that faith is about more than just believing in the existence of God. It’s about believing that God is who He says He is. He is good. He is faithful. He is unchanging. When things get stressful, or I start worrying, I hear Him asking me “Do you believe I am who I say I am?”. Father, grow in me a faith like Abraham, that I may trust in your character and be obedient to your will in my life, even when I don’t know where you are leading.

    1. Christy says:

      Amen ❤️

  36. Erin S says:

    Faithfulness – Genesis 12

    God called Abraham to leave his homeland to follow him. He obeyed and trusted God with his faith, and God blessed him. In our lives, we have to have faith and know that God is always by our side.

  37. LindaK says:

    An aspect of God’s character that I see in the readings today is that God is faithful to His Word!

  38. Carolyn Nowotny says:

    Hey ladies, I’m trying to get in the habit of commenting here and joining in this community. What struck me today was how tender and sweet it was that God took Abram outside and showed him the night sky. He gave him such a beautiful visual of what the promise was. God did not have to do that for him and it just shows me how loving and tender God is towards us

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      Yes, beautiful!! He is good! Keep commenting, it helps in our faithfulness! If no one commented we wouldn’t have anything here, right?

  39. Donna Wolcott says:

    May I, when called, be willing to step out in faith even if I don’t know the where, what or who.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      It seems like you have done that well Donna with all your missionary/ministry experiences you share!!

  40. Cindy Hanna says:

    Oops ! Posted before finishing. To continue my thoughts. Noah and Abrams stories meshed together in my mind today. I was struck by the “God said” and Abram (& Noah) believed statements. Kind of made me stop and think about how we discern what God is saying and then our (my) response to that discernment. I wonder if there has been missed opportunities? A daily walk of trust is so important to not missing God’s best.

  41. Cindy Hanna says:

    Good comments this morning. @ Linda in NC. Sweet testimony. I got a little behind so had to read about Noah before reading Abrams story so those two example of faith

  42. Lauren Hayner says:

    When God reveals a promise he has for us, he keeps that promise. We may not know when; we may not know how, but he keeps his promises.

  43. Amanda Noble says:

    A few months back, I was really frustrated. My entire adult life I have known God as “the one who provides”. Financially I have always struggled. I was tired of being the charity case, always having to say, “no, I can’t go to that, or no, we can’t afford this.” I was complaining to a dear friend about the many facets of God, and how I really wished I could get to know these other facets besides The Provider. With a sinful heart I was whining because I was tired of this lot in life. She said “do you really want to know the great physician, with that comes sickness, or the protector, because with that comes danger?” Her words broke my heart open. The blessings God has given my daughter and I are too numerous to count. He gave us faith, he pulled us from the familial cycle of abuse, he transplanted us 2100 miles from our abusers. We’ve been in what I would call exile for 11 years and now he’s called us to go back home, and let me tell you our obedience had looked alot like kicking and screaming. God’s direction has rarely looked like a blessing until after the hard things have passed. When I realized it was time to go back home, I cried and asked God why we needed to be put back in the same area of those who have hurt us? What I “heard” was, I have strengthened you, I have nurtured you, I have shown you what family can look like, what a father should look like. The time of mourning, loneliness, and exile is over. You’re ready to be my hands and feet… Things haven’t been easy trying to be obedient, trying to line everything out, but God has patiently moved us step by step. Even when I haven’t been patient. He’s faithfully provided even when I haven’t been faithful but questioning, and stubborn. Ladies count your blessings, and you’ll see rainbows everywhere.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      OH Amanda…It is wonderful to hear this from you, for I remember your struggles, and we really wanted to gift you, but couldn’t contact you!! This testimony is just beautiful!! I would love for you to come to our FB She’s page and tell us more!

    2. Mercy says:

      Hugs dear Amanda. You remind me of Joyce Meyer’s testimony. Obedience is really not easy. Prayers over you and your daughter.

  44. Annie says:

    God keeps His word. May I trust fully and without holding anything back, obedient to His will.

  45. Barb D says:

    God really puts us in a position where we MUST trust Him. He only gives us enough light for the step we’re on; He doesn’t lay out every detail of what lays ahead.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      Yes! Barb, I always refer to the verse about the lamp at our feet…it is at our feet for one step at a time in trust, it does not provide a flashlight! Good to remember!

  46. Lara M says:

    What stuck out to me is that God can always be trusted. I’ve been teaching this truth to the K-5 kids at church. God always keeps His promises because He is faithful. To be faithful means He can always be trusted and depended on. What also struck me is that Abraham was not justified by works but by his belief, just as we are…and even our belief (and his) is a gift from God (Eph 2:8-9).

  47. Kris says:

    Sometimes I feel like Faith is like walking out off the end of a plank and just believing God is going to catch me before I plunge into the water. It’s hard. You really have to believe in your God to do that. Do blindly follow God believing that everything He is asking you to do is for your good, even when you can’t see around the corner and have no idea how it’s going to turn out… Oh, Father, let me have that kind of faith

    1. Kris says:

      **to blindly (not “do”)

    2. Sophie M says:

      Amen! Thank you for sharing Kris !

  48. Tammy Stecker says:

    Didn’t there used to be a short devotional here?

    1. Kelly (NEO) says:

      Good morning, Tammy

      It depends on the plan. This one is more interactive.

    2. Lara M says:

      Occasionally they do a study that is more contemplative and discussion based. The devotionals will come back with a new study.

  49. GramsieSue says:

    I can’t believe how timely this study has been!
    Well, I CAN believe it, because of God!!!
    This has made me think back over my life…all the crazy, funny, scary, good, bad, and ugly…
    But God…
    So now, as Steve and I try to wrap our minds around our current crisis, I remember all that God has done. All that He has carried us through.
    He is faithful.
    He is good.
    Have a good Wednesday, sisters. ❤️

    1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

      Amen! He is faithful – May it encourage you as you and Steve navigate through these “uncharted waters” you are going through. Prayers for you both! ❤️

      1. Rhonda J. says:

        Yes, he always prepares us in our past experiences for what is ahead!!

  50. Cee Gee says:

    Abraham held fast to his God and his faith through the hard stuff. After reading all of your comments I remembered this song. We do walk by faith, but we sometimes drag our feet a bit when we don’t see what God sees for our lives. Partial lyrics from Weary Traveler by Jordan St. Cyr:
    Weary traveler, restless soul
    You were never meant to walk this road alone
    It’ll all be worth it so just hold on
    Weary traveler, you won’t be weary long
    No, you won’t be weary long
    You won’t be weary long (weary long)
    Someday soon we’re gonna make it home

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      Oh Yes, this was a popular song last year they played a lot! I got to see him at a small outdoor venue last year!

    2. Mercy says:

      ❤️ Love this. Thank you CEE GEE!

  51. Kimberly Z says:

    How scary is it to trust our faith in God sometimes. I know I’ve been there more than once in my life. Happy Wednesday ladies. Praying for you all.

  52. Cee Gee says:

    This reading reminds me of God’s faithfulness AND His provision. He provided a land for his people’s inheritance, he provided a special offspring, and we know the provision that took place in ‘the rest of the story’ but just trying to stick to these verses today.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The passage in Isaiah CHALLENGES me – all readers- to ‘LISTEN to Me’ (caps mine).
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The passage in Romans ENCOURAGES me with the reminder that I am redeemed through FAITH ALONE, not works or anything that I may boast.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Obviously, I didn’t get back to write my comment yesterday, but I did get so much after reading yours!
    Prayers continue for those struggling with life after the hurricanes, for MARIA in landing securely after losing everything in the fire, for our beloved caregivers and their spouses, job challenges/woes, relationships, and the lost. Sending hugs with those prayers.
  53. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
    What stood out to me about God’s character? God is intentional. Everything He does has purpose, He always has a plan. We might not know his purpose, or understand it and may not even agree with His plan. But as we see time & time again – scripture testifies that God’s plan is good, God’s plan is always the best, and we do well if we listen and obey. There have been times when I’ve thought my way is better, but just as Abram (time & time again!) found out – it doesn’t pay to go your own way!
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Father God, help me to always listen to You and follow your plan. For You alone are the only wise God, whose way is perfect .
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Have a blessed Wednesday sweet sisters!
    1. Courtney says:
      Thank you, Sharon, for bringing to mind for me Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
      Though I know it in my spirit, I truly needed it to be reinforced in my mind this morning.
      Be blessed today, my friends!
      1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
        I love that verse, and need to be reminded of it always – thank you! ❤️
    2. Gwineth52 says:
      Amen & Amen, my sister!
      1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
        ❤️
  54. Linda J says:
    Abram acted in faith but had questions. And took those questions to the God he trusted. I often have questions and fail to see God’s purpose or his hand at work. Comforting to know I am in the company of God’s own Abraham! Praying for the maturity and courage to follow and ask and trust when life is uncertain.
  55. Cheryl Blow says:
    God is always faithful to His promise. He calls us to do hard things and to step out in faith. Obedience to God’s call
    Rhonda in NC, I love your testimony of God’s faithfulness!
    Praying for all.
  56. Beth Bruner says:
    In class I am currently teaching my students about Abraham. It is interesting to see and hear their 2nd grader thoughts on his faith. It’s funny because they are still learning but have so much faith. Following God is a no brainer for them. God blesses us and does what’s we need from Him, not what we want. God is great!
    1. Kris says:
      Oh, to be in 2nd grade again….. to have the faith of a child. That’s what I want.
    2. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
      ❤️
  57. Kristy says:
    The Lord said to Abraham: Know this for certain! Love that. We know that Gods word is CERTAIN but do we live like it is daily? There are few things certain in life but Jesus and His word are! Looked up the definition bc it is just such a strong word. To know for sure, established beyond doubt, having no doubt or knowing exactly that something is true. Jesus you are true! You are easy to believe and trust , your track record is perfect. Your promises are certain! but we make it so hard some days. Help us to be certain in who we KNOW you are! To take you at your word. To believe you like Abraham!
  58. Jane K says:
    Oh, to have the faith of Abraham and to go and leave when God called him. I can’t picture Abraham grumbling and saying while me, Lord. But that is what I often find myself saying. The verses today encouraged me to continue to care for my mom with her dementia and to stop grumbling to the Lord because my life doesn’t look like what I expected or planned. God is good and faithful and will provide all I need for this day. Patient endurance!
  59. Sarah Ritchie says:
    Like yesterday the same thought came to me: what an absolute blessing and gift to hear God plainly. To have a two- way conversation!!! How I long for that. My takeaway, in this liminal space, I need to pray to hear God clearly. I need to pray more for clarity of direction.
    1. Gwineth52 says:
      Absolute agreement, my sister!
  60. R says:
    Thanks for sharing Linda!! My husband and I did the same thing and our story is still
    unfolding.Hearing yours builds my faith and reminds me that the ONE who calls us is faithful!
  61. Maria Baer says:
    Sorry— for some reason my comment posted without me finishing. What I meant to write was:
    This has been an interesting study for me because one theme keeps resonating with me in my heart— how I tend to limit in my mind, the goodness and power of God. I’m always feeling like I’m asking for too much, or too many times, or that God has more important things to do. When in reality, if it is His Will for me- for us, He can do anything because He is all things, all the time, everywhere and never changing. He doesn’t turn off one aspect of His character to turn on another. He always IS. So, my continued persona prayer during this study is that the Spirit continues to reveal to me, areas where I am making Him less when it should be the opposite.
  62. Maria Baer says:
  63. Jenn Lundblad says:
    “Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭15‬:‭1
    God calls us to do hard things. But it that his presence is always with us. He never gives up on us. His plans are always better (even if we can’t see it, we must believe it) and things always work out for our good when we believe.
    1. Sarah Ritchie says:
      God calls us to do hard things. Loved this Jenn.
    2. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
      Praise God – He never gives up on us! ❤️
    3. Gwineth52 says:
      Yes, dear Jenn!
      When we believe!
  64. Gwineth52 says:
    Good Morning Shes
    “I will make you a great nation.”
    “To your offspring I will give this land.”
    “And Abram believed the Lord,
    and He credited to him as righteous”.
    Our God is a Promise Keeper.
    As in Abraham, God has a Purpose & a Plan
    for all His People.
  65. Rhonda J. says:
    God ALWAYS rewards obedience- and then also as true, our disobedience brings destruction and ruin. We have free will by way of our choices. We have hundreds of choices a day, big and small. And thus, consequences to those choices. We talk about this all the time in jail, how usually 1 split second of a choice led to their whole life gone in an instant. Meaning arrested in that moment- to no going home to their normal life and their loved ones to who knows how long. These ladies are ones that don’t have money available to get them out on bail, but have to sit, sit, sit and wait with an unknown. It is hard on them, and they think back to that moment in time when they could have made a better choice. We all make poor decisions and choices is the thing. That’s why we need our anchor, our north star—our Jesus. The WORD in our hearts daily. All though we can never be fully in control of our lives- we can know the one that is. He is faithful and true to his promises.
    @Linda G- Love that that story and Gene’s faith and yours now. I pray your faith continues to strengthen you. Your testimony encourages us.
    1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
      The women at the prison are so blessed to have you caring for them & teaching the Word – giving them hope! ❤️
    2. Mercy says:
      Thanks Rhonda, how true that free will can be a risky thing that God has gifted to man. In a split second, the choice can alter one’s life. May we choose life and have the discernment to do so.
  66. Adrienne says:
    I love that scripture interprets scripture… I never noticed the connection to Isaiah 51:2 before. Duh! Had you?
  67. Emily B. says:
    What stuck out to me today was how hard it must’ve been to leave Haran. Abram’s family had been there for years, and they were doing well. But after his father died, Abram packed up his household and started the journey to Canaan again. Haran was not supposed to be their final destination. If they’d stayed there permanently, they would be disobeying God. It makes me wonder how many times I’ve stopped on the road of obedience. Getting started again might be difficult, but it’s always worth it to follow the path God has laid out for me.
    1. Anna Faith says:
      Amen!
    2. DW says:
      I had that same thought. Why did they stop? How would it have been different if they’d journeyed on to Canaan.
  68. Carla says:
    Abraham KNEW God. How did he know Him? He sought God and when God told him to do this thing, Abraham could trust Him because he knew him. May I continue to seek God and know Him.
  69. Tami says:
    What aspects of God’s character stood out to you, challenged you, or encouraged you from today’s reading?
    God makes good on His promises! Our job is to trust and obey Him. To wait patiently and remain in faith even when that promise seems so far out of reach. The Lord gave us a promise for our daughter in a vision to my husband a few years ago. That promise carried me through her 1st year of college that was NOT even close to what we had expected. It was such a scary, dark time for all of us. We came close to pulling her out for a medical leave. I called on that promise to God so so many times, on my knees in her bedroom, “Lord You said… it doesn’t look like it but You said it so I’m going to believe it”. That promise was a life line to me. As hard as it was, I am starting to see the fruits of that time and a glimpse of the promise. We aren’t quite there yet, but we are not where we once were. Tina, I always think of Abbi. How is she doing? That time brought me to another level of trust and surrender because there was nothing I could do. I had to “surrender all” to Him. Have a blessed day ladies!
    1. Laura says:
      This really blesses my heart. I too held onto a promise about my youngest daughter who was estranged from us for 8 years. It was the hardest time of my life. But I kept holding onto the promise that we had trained her up in the Lord and He would bring her back one day. And she is back! Thank you for sharing your story!
  70. Jody Striker says:
    I love how God calls him out and invites him on a journey. I don’t love the discomfort and faith that I experience when God does this with me. But, it’s beautiful and powerful as I watch it play out with Abraham. God, give us eyes to see how we can keep trusting you as we follow you by faith in our stories. ❤️ Help us believe that they will be just as powerful and beautiful someday!
    1. Gwineth52 says:
      Yes, Jody! You said:
      “I love how God calls him out and invites him on a journey. I don’t love the discomfort and faith that I experience when God does this with me.”
      The verb, “ invites”, is beautiful. Neither “forces” or “compels”. Instead, extends Grace.
      1. Vicki M says:
        ❤️
  71. Mari G says:
    From Genesis 15:5 “He took him outside and said…” God’s physical presence is real. He was with Abraham. God is present all the time. I pray that I recognize Him and trust that He is with me.
  72. Sarah Carmona says:
    I love the faithfulness of God on display ❤️ One definition of faithful: •firm• in adherence to promises. He made promises to Abraham and then fulfilled them.
    Lyrics from Maverick City Music come to my mind: “and let my heart learn when you speak a word it will come to pass”
    1. Gwineth52 says:
      Amen & Amen, Sarah!
  73. Katy S says:
    Gods plan is always better than our plan. His ways are always higher than our ways. I saw something yesterday that said God, please relieve me from this pain/grief/situation whatever it is and also, I know that you are using this for my good. Help us to remember that each part of our life is being used to refine our hearts. Happy Wednesday!
    1. Sheryl says:
      ❤️
  74. Jennifer Fees says:
    Righteousness is a result of faith and not by works. Faith also requires us to seek God. I needed this reminder. Lately I feel like my priorities have been misaligned. God is showing me that I should seek before all else and everything else will fall into place.
  75. Ariadne T says:
    God heard Abraham’s concerns and answered them. Abraham spoke to God and expected help. He then believed what God told him. To God be the glory because He’s definitely a waymaker when things seem impossible.
    1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
      Amen! ❤️
  76. Linda in NC says:
    Reading Abraham’s call always reminds me of Gene’s call into ministry. Eleven years out of college, good paying job, two children,a cat and a mortgage! We sold the house and everything that wouldn’t fit into a 22′ Ryder truck and our car and headed to that “strange” land of Texas with no job or place to live! We embarked on an incredible journey of opened doors of provision and multiplied grace as Gene went to seminary. Too much to tell here.
    One cute thing, our daughter (11 yrs old) was in SS one morning when Genesis 12 was the topic. The teacher asked ” how would you feel if God called your Daddy to do this. She raised her hand and said “my daddy did this exact same thing”!
    Here we are exactly 50 years later in a land we know not of dementia and care giving. He is still faithful! 2 children,
    8 grands, 3 bonus grands, 15 great grands!! The Lord always honors His Word.
    1. Penny says:
      Linda, I love this! What a great testimony! There’s nothing like following God in this journey of life!
    2. Tami says:
      Wow Linda how amazing! What a great testimony!
    3. Maria Baer says:
      Linda, what a beautiful testimony of obedience and God’s faithfulness. Thank you for blessing us with this story.
    4. R says:
      Thanks for sharing Linda!! My husband and I did the same thing and our story is still
      unfolding.Hearing yours builds my faith and reminds me that the ONE who calls us is faithful!
    5. Kristy says:
      Beautiful testimony! Makes me think of the song All my life you have been faithful and bc He has showed his faithfulness you can trust Him in this new unknown land. Hugs!
    6. Cee Gee says:
      How beautiful this is to read now, though, like another sister mentioned in comments, it must have been so, so challenging at the time! And yes, He is there with you in this uncertain time. ❤ Thank you for encouraging us with your testimony!
    7. GramsieSue says:
      Linda, this is such a great testimony!
      I didn’t know anything beyond the journey you’re on now with his dementia. So good to know that God has carried you through so much, and continues to the end!
      Hugs to you ❤️
    8. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
      A wonderful testimony of God’s faithfulness and love!
      I don’t think I realized that you and Gene were in ministry – Jeff & I had a similar experience! God called Jeff into ministry just 2 months after we were married. 4 months later we quit our jobs & packed up everything we had (which wasn’t much!) & moved from RI to SC. We had no jobs waiting for us, had no idea where we were going to live, and knew only one family that lived there who we barely knew! But God! He is faithful & He guides & provides!!
      1. Linda in NC says:
        Amen!
        “All my life you have been faithful
        All my life you have been so so good.
        With every breath I am able I will sing of the goodness of God”
    9. Vicki M says:
      Linda, thank you for sharing this. Such a beautiful encouragement of God’s faithfulness.
  77. Aimee D-R says:
    God was so near to Abraham and it continued to strengthen his faith.
  78. Danielle B says:
    The passage in Isaiah is a great reminder that it is God’s will and timing how He fulfills His promises to us. We need to hold to God and His promise because He is faithful and trustworthy. How long was Abraham one before the nation of his bloodline was born? It is easy to become weary and lose sight, But God He is not weary. He is loving and faithful to His promises. Just what my soul needed reminded of this morning.
    I agree with Kelly (neo) everyone’s feedback is so encouraging!
    1. Sheryl says:
      Yes! He is God and I am not! I just need to trust His promises, not try to fulfill them! He just asks me to be faithful and obedient.
      Help me, Lord, to trust You like Abraham and Noah did!
    2. Sharon Jersey Girl says:
      ❤️
  79. Erin R says:
    God counts our faith and obedience as righteousness, not works. This challenges me to strengthen my relationship with him so that I have eyes to see where He is at work and ears to hear what He is asking me to do.
    1. Sheryl says:
      ❤️
  80. Katie Megee says:
    Faith in God made Abraham righteous. Faith in Christ makes us righteous. So simple, and yet we make it so very complex!!
  81. Kelly (NEO) says:
    God’s plan > my plan.
    .
    God’s timing > my timetable.
    Loving the interaction here so far in this study Ladies. Thank you for taking the time to respond. So much richer with your contributions ❣️
    1. Searching says:
      Agree, KELLY! ❤️
    2. Sheryl says:
      I agree, Kelly, I usually don’t get too much out of these studies without the written devotional from a SRT writer, however, this study has been so good! So many shared thoughts and insights, songs and corresponding Bible verses have made it a great study! Thank you everyone who posts, it helps us all!
    3. Sarah Ritchie says:
      Kelly, have been reading your posts for years and did not comment. This month, in October, I committed to commenting everyday. Wow, what a difference in the richness of mynmorning study. Appreciate all of you with fresh eyes.
    5. Gwineth52 says:
      Yes, Kelly.
      A sweet summation!
  82. Sally B. says:
    Like Tina, I am reminded that Abram’s journey was not quick or straight, but he continued pressing forward towards God. God’s timing is not our timing. We watch Abram’s journey over 25 or so years from God calling him out of Ur to Canaan and telling him that his descendants will be as numerous as the stars of the sky, yet the child of that promise is not born until Abraham is 100. We know Abraham and Sarah did not do things perfectly during those years, but God knew Abraham’s heart towards Him and God continues to patiently work out His plan in His timing.
    Father help me to wait patiently, with active obedience, on Your plan in Your time!
    1. Kelly (NEO) says:
      “Active obedience”❤️
  83. Tina says:
    What I love about Genesis 15 is that Abram was real with God. He poured out his heart, his fears, his hopes dashed…. BUT were they? God never gives up on us, never! It many seem like it, in our mindset..BUT GOD.., If He has said it, then He WILL do it!
    .
    To be able to hear Him, there needs to be a relationship with Him.. A trusting Him in the good and the bad.. Abrams journey was not straight forward, far from it, but He hang close to God, ‘He believed the Lord’ even in the things he could not ever have imagined, and I’m guessing as he got older seemed to be out of reach…
    BUT GOD..
    .
    He is a God of promise and truth, grace, hope and goodness..
    .
    Lord, thank you that you are my champion, that you are with me where ever and whatever I face. Lord, teach me and guide me to be as obedient as Abram, in My pursuit of righteousness and to trust you in my days, whatever they look like. Lord, you are my rock, and I pray Lord God, that I remember this, in My choices and trust in you!
    Father God, I pray that one day my name will be there in ‘Christians 11:? By faith Tina, when she was called, obeyed in faith, with hope even in her trials, she believed God..’
    .
    AMEN.
    .
    Happy Wednesday dear hearts. Happy Wednesday, as always covered in love and prayers continued..❤
