“ 1After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”” What a great reminder for us today.
These passages demonstrate the power of God and his Son. He provides for us. He listens to us. He heals us.
John 5:16-46 just about grabbed me out of my chair. I felt the power of God in those words, in Jesus’ convictions. How blessed are we to honor a God who sent his flesh down from heaven to teach us and guide us in honoring our good God?
Jesus loves every single person. If we had seen that man by the pool, I wonder how many of us would have avoided him in his brokenness. Jesus picked him out of the crowd to heal and love. One of us is not more broken than another, even though we are different in the way we show our brokenness. But Jesus love us, brokenness and all.
28‘Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.
Works…we must know the Word as a whole or scriptures like this are taken out of context.
14Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.” This one really stuck with me!! Jesus is so kind and loving that when we are cynical of his power and sovereignty that he waits on us to come to understand and simply respond with “See, you are well!” in such a loving and friendly way. Almost as if to say, “I still remember you and your struggles, and I still love you and was waiting for you to find me.” So much grace and love in such a small phrase.
“And He brought him outside and said … ‘number the stars, if you are able to … So shall your offspring be’. And he believed the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness” (Genesis 15:5-6). Abraham believed God when His promise seemed humanly impossible. God’s promise was more sure than everything he could see around him. He believed in the face of common sense that says, “it’s just not possible”. Oh God, give me such faith.
