I, too, have struggled with Jeremiah. The repetitive “gloom and doom” nature of the whole book is very hard to continually read. I’m hoping the big take away is God will punish those who consistently denounce Him, and reward those who are steadfast in their faith.

Hi Ashley! I really like and agree with your take away for Jeremiah. It really helped put things in perspective for me and the tiring repetition that goes on in the book.

The words of ladies above really express my heart today too. Today i think i read some of the most challenging words of scripture for me to understand: 21 With you I will smash the horse and its rider;
with you I will smash the chariot and its rider. 22 With you I will smash man and woman; with you I will smash the old man and the youth; with you I will smash the young man and the young woman.
23 With you I will smash the shepherd and his flock; with you I will smash the farmer and his ox-team. With you I will smash governors and officials.— but i know all scripture is God-breathed and to teach and instruct me. I plan to watch that video referenced above. I will wrestle through it until i gain the insight God intended. I’ll appreciate any insight others can bring here as well. Love and prayers to all of you! -
Pray for me ladies. I am so glad I’m through with Jeremiah. (That kind if negativity is not good. ) I’m trying to finish strong and catch back up before the end if the year. I just didn’t glean anything from Jeremiah. I hope I can try harder in the next OT book.

You’re not alone Leigh Ann, I also found Jeremiah challenging to read and I’m also very glad to have reached the end. I found it repetitive and I couldn’t understand a lot of it, think that’s why I struggled so much. God is aware of this and if it’s His will then I’m sure He’ll provide an opportunity for me to gain a better understanding of Jeremiah and learn about it in its proper context. Praying the same will happen for you, don’t be disheartened.

Reading all of the curses prophesied for Babylon was tough today, but reminded me of a sermon my husband just preached on Psalm 137 about how we as Christians should respond to evil. Recently been feeling a lot of anxiety and trouble sleeping. I’m asking God to show me whatever pride or sin is in my life. He revealed to me that I need to fear Him more than man. He wants to be first in my life.
