On this day of my birth, I will pray and vow to work harder on etching the words of God on my heart and doing as the word says. Not just reading but also putting the teachings to action for the glory of God.

I like that this scripture in James breaks down the idea of “real religion”. I’d never read that passage before I don’t think.

i love james 1. “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:2-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬
all of this is just good. it’s great reminders that i need to be reminded of when i’m going through different trials in my life.

it’s so easy for us to encourage others but when it comes to ourselves we tend to forget what we should do. we see that in job and his friend said ““In the past you have encouraged many people; you have strengthened those who were weak. Your words have supported those who were falling; you encouraged those with shaky knees. But now when trouble strikes, you lose heart. You are terrified when it touches you.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭4:3-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬
his friend had to remind him of what he’s told others.

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. – James 1:27
