I found a little reminder in this passage. God has a purpose for each of us. Maybe we don’t feel as great as a disciple but what about the guy carrying water? God had him carry water at that time so the disciples would know where to go. Obedience in the small things!

    Prayers needed please.

      Praying for you Olivia!

  3. Julia Smith says:

Praying that my faith would not fail when Satan sifts me.

  4. Lyndsay says:

The fact that Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith might not fail, jumped out at me today. To think Jesus prays for us and Hebrews tells us just that, He is interceding for us before the throne. Wow!

      So powerful!

Notice how the disciples couldn’t keep focused…. in one sentence they are worried about which one of them would betray Jesus, and in practically the next breath they were arguing over who would be greatest in Jesus’s kingdom -as if the first question really wasn’t important. I should examine myself and my attitudes to guard against being self centered like that. I need to be a servant and give the glory to God, not be seeking it for myself.

That hit me today too… Like a lot of side conversations at the dinner table, or maybe like a small group of women out together for appetizers. Is it weird that there was no question and answer time that they are all on the same page? Like straight out asking Jesus what’s the guys name who will betray you? Who is it so we can talk him out of it! Which one of us is going to be the greatest? Idk… It was just weird thinking what that last supper might have looked like today.

This is a great passage today, reflecting on the Lord’s glory and grace. Katrina and Shirl pointed out something good here: Both passages do some foreshadowing too into what we will see soon:

The verse Shirl pointed out hints at Solmin’s downfall, combined with the mentioning of his wife, Pharoah’s daughter. Israelites were not allowed to marry foreign wives according to the Law. Then in Luke, there’s the clear foreshadowing to Judas’s betrayal and Peter’s denial. But despite this, Jesus continues to establish his new covenant with them, even though he knows what is going to happen, and that just shows how gracious out God is.

      Great connection!

  7. Katrina P says:

These chapters are both so powerful. From the house of God being build to the betrayal of the Lord by one of his own deciples being foretold. What is destined to happen will be done.

  8. Shirl says:

12 “Concerning this house that you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and obey my rules and keep all my commandments and walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father. Solomon obeyed the Lord, but Subsequent rulers did not. It is impossible to always do right because we are sinners. Thank God for His son who died so that we pull be with Him.
