  1. Linda says:

I am distressed that Neco king of Egypt had a word from God and Josiah, the good king did not recognize it, costing him his life. What happened here?

    1. Erica says:

I have been taking a Bible class and I have learned that though Josiah did disobey and it was wrong it was part of God’s plan because it saved Josiah from the terrible things that were about to happen to his people. God had promised that Josiah would die peacefully.

Seeing the ages of the Kings reminds me of how powerful young people are. I pray that we use it for good and not evil!!

Love this… V30-31 (Josiah)did right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of his father David and did not turn aside to the right or to the left. Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord to walk after the Lord, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant written in this book.

Me too… Chronicles spans a huge amount of time – from united to divided kingdom to captivity to return – so I made a running list of the kings of Judah (& Israel when mentioned) and wrote down next to each if they did good or evil before the Lord. It’s quite the list with only a smattering of good kings throughout Judah’s existence. Very interesting to see who was godly and if there was indication of why. Wish I had done it thru Kings too! Oh well :/

I love this idea! wish I would have seen this sooner :)

    3. Could you turn it into a google doc and share the link??

I keep telling myself I’m going to go back and do this too.. A bad king could reign 55 years. Thats a lifetime for his subjects! Many areas of the world suffer like this. And even some states in the US- (not kings- but high ranking politicians! ). we have to stay focused on our God- suffering under ungodly leadership is nothing new.

  5. Katherine says:

Is anyone else struggling through 2 Chronicles? It is difficult for me to concentrate through all of the names, and keep the Kings straight. Maybe it is just me!?

    1. Shari says:

      I feel the same!

    2. Sam says:

      I feel the same way!

      1. Rachel says:

It helps to read summaries online beforehand so you have a better understanding of what’s going on. It also helps to put it in NLV or a more modern version of the Bible. I also like to take notes as I go just so I can keep the names straight as to who did what!

“Because your heart was responsive…” 2 Chron. 34:7

  7. Becky says:

I pray that I would have this same confidence in speaking with unbelievers that Jesus had when answering the Pharisees. He was merciful, yet truthful. He was so confident in His position as the true Son of God that He said, “even the stones would cry out, if these people don’t.” I can speak the truth in love and gentleness, because it is true…Jesus is the only way to God.

  8. Alexis says:

    Luke 19:42
42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.
Dear Father, I humbly pray that you will keep my eyes open, my ears hearing, my heart softened and my intellect hungry to learn, so that I will know the peace you have for me each day. In Jesus name amen.

    1. Nailah says:

      I love this!

    2. Jennifer says:

      Amen!

    3. Ariadne says:

Yes!! A great prayer that rings true for me as well
